The moonlight illuminated the waters of the beach, couples would stop to take in the view and other people, tourists would take photos of the vast. Just then, behind them, an orange light in the distance illuminated the buildings, just ahead, when observing dark silhouettes, which from time to time were illuminated by an orange tone. Some recognized it right away, others had to squint hard, but it was soon clear… They were the Loonactics! The heroes of Acmetropolis! Huh? What were they doing up there? And... Why did one of them seem so... out of control?
The yellow hero was thrown away, clutching his chest, their symbolic triangle singed, and in general, all of his clothes had burn marks. He almost fell if he hadn't been caught by the red bird, who put his arm around his shoulders and quickly pulled him out of the sight of another scorching ball. The maniacal laughter did not cease, much less the flames in their hands that were soon launched, one against the green hero and, then, the purple hero. The heroine in pink, who was standing apart from the rest and carrying a civilian, looked from a distance at what was once her colleague in a state of instability and insanity, with the human in his arms whimpering and cowering.
— DUCK!
— the pink rabbit called with heavy breathing, trying to get closer to her colleague
— Please…
— Intense tone, in contrast to the clenched fists, tears fell.
— You need to stop this.
—...Stop?
— The bird laughed faintly for a moment.
— STOP? NOW! Now that I should stop?"
— His lungs filled, the substance passing between his teeth as the air escaped with laughter.
— HAHAHAHAHA!!! You really dream, Bunny girl. I will NEVER stop!
— His voice was far from usual, it was certain that it had already disappeared as his eyes covered a pattern of golden spirals.
— I won't lose everything again, I WILL keep going like this UNTIL EVERYONE KNOWS MY NAME! — his smile grew.
— Maybe. Even this time the boss will finally PAY ATTENTION to my efforts! Respect is the least I can do... but in the end I will succeed. I WILL BE THE GREATEST AND BEST HERO THAT EVER EXISTED in the wor...
The orange hero's cough succumbed, his colors were erased by his rough movements, his saliva mixed with the viscous liquid, the duck forced his head forward despite the tears flowing. His ignorance was left with the sequence of coughs, dropping one part at a time until his knees dragged on the grass.
One hand on his chest while another hand is holding his body and a futile attempt to try to “stand up”. His eyes for a moment turned from blue to brown at the liquid coming out of his beak… The fresh smell… Intense… a liquid clung to his throat, mixing wherever it went. It was… It was certain that it was part of him coming out… It was certain that it was blood!
— W-wha-at-t...
— The bird's pupils widened until it realized the seriousness, coughs increased as its suit was damaged by the dirt that formed.
— Crap…
— The arctic fox removed his hair, the smile leaving as he adjusted the composure of his glasses.
— YOU IDIOT! YOU WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THIS! You won't get away with this, that's for sure!
— The hero in yellow gasped for a moment, then his fingers moved away from the sword's sheath and on the way he pushed the scientist.
The bird lifted its head, with a few quick movements, its vision of the Loonatics. Its feathers lost their black hue and its feet faltered as it saw, who were his friends one day and soon became the adversaries he was facing. His eyes opened and water covered his eyelids for the first time, they were from Rev to Ace, the optimism that he always carried on his shoulders was ripped away while the other, the leader, tried to keep him conscious.
And even the one who was most robbed of his efforts, the coyote Tech, and who was one of those who seemed to “hate him the most”, was equally in crisis as he tried to use his communicator. Were they… Saying something? What was it?… Were they… The call? Why couldn't he hear it? What was happening?
WHY COULDN'T HE HEAR? The darkness carried him closer, his senses soon seemed to abandon him, your body sagging on the ground and everything coming as a mere blur. The faces disappeared from this dark image, his last vision perhaps being that he realized everyone was running towards him, until he remembered nothing more.
— DUCK! No… No! No! NO!
— PLEASE! Come back to us! Please, Duck.
— DUCK! COME ON… buddy! Wake up! Wake up!
— You better not dare perish!!! You goofy, please…
— “DRUCKIN!”
…
As the scientist's watch fell, the hands marked the hour digits backwards. While the heroes were busy carrying their companion, their voices were silenced for the moment of departure to the past, certainly, to when everything had begun in that story.
…
The orange bird gradually opened its eyes, even with the cap over its face, the rays of light rose in seconds. A long, stretching yawn was given, stopping to look out the window that looked out over the horizon, leaned his shoulder close as the jet made its way through the approaching city. He scratched the back of his neck a few times until a name returned, was it by any chance called Bottown Bay? It was a curious name, not to say weird, anyway, it didn't matter!
In short, it was a coastal city—after all, what better place to spend a vacation? The exact image he'd dreamed of after all that effort! It took many… many… months for the duck to convince Ace and Tech to take (at least) a single week off, even if it was just to visit another city, which they did.
The rest of the team had no difficulty, just the words to answer Lexi's questions were accurate, it was time to enjoy a well-deserved vacation. The black bird immediately threw the cap, whistling into the choppy waters, before returning to the canine and pilot of the vehicle.
— Hey, Tech!
— Moved his neck, signaled with his arm as he got close enough to the other.
— Will it take a while to land or is it difficult to find vacancies?
— His gestures were accompanied by ruffled feathers, his eyes narrowed on the coyote, his tone of voice rigid and full of sarcasm until he cleared it as he fell back into his seat to one of the Slam tornadoes.
— I don't know if you've noticed, Duck... But there aren't many safe landing spots for the jet!
— Braced his arms as he held back his growl, his ears following the movement.
— Okie…dokie.
— He rolled his eyes.
— Whatever! Just speed it up!
— Supported the nose with one hand.
— Duck, be patient, it's not every day we get a sunny day. Let Tech drive without pressure.
— The rabbit's whiskers wiggled before moving the board piece, which only increased his joy as the other rabbit scratched her hair.
— Of course. Ace.
— Grumbled, his legs crossed before leaning his shoulders back and turning to the window, giving a slight smile even though his mood was low.
After a few extra hours, the aircraft parked at a point not too far nor too close to the city. Its area was covered by a long cloud of smoke, which gave way to the lunatics, each wearing the most casual clothes and carrying bags at their side. And by mentioning them, the duck came out whistling with an exaggerated amount of them in his hands.
What resulted from stumbling was that all the items fell right on top of him, his head was pulled out of the mess, tense grunting as he tried to drag himself out of the pile. Duck's fingers tapped, counting every thought about the situation until he noticed his colleagues' giggles, a weak smile escaping him as he tried to feign a little anger.
— Which places do you want to go first?
— The rabbit soon approached to get a better view, releasing her ears toward the bars as a small smile appeared.
The young woman pricked up her ears once more when she noticed the movement of the civilians, but that wasn't the reason why she was surprised, it was right below, and could perceive a group of anthropomorphic animals. They were all living together like any other, the eyes were on the side until noticing the lack of humans, in a certain, of a larger quantity in the usual city, something unusual to it.
— I don't know about you, but I'm definitely going to a salon!
— The bird lowered its sunglasses, marched with its accessories until it was held back to the group by the gray rabbit.
— First, maybe we should split into pairs to explore the area. We can do countless things before heading down to the beach.
— The coyote pointed as he dialed on a tablet, projecting a map of the small town for everyone until, without realizing it, he was caught in the roadrunner's jump.
— Is this what we're waiting for? LET'S GO! GONNA! I'm dying to die and I heard there are menus here.
— The roadrunner didn't even realize how much he was moving his arms, making his companion dizzy, which caused a few small laughs until he sped off with the coyote to some restaurant.
— REV RUNNNERRRR!
— The canine screamed as he held his snout, eyes dazed.
— Since we're going out in pairs, I'll take Ace.
— The beige rabbit would sneak past, patting the rabbit on the shoulder, which resulted in them both looking at each other before he returned it with another pat on the shoulder.
— “Leave?”
— Slam signed.
— I agree, Slam.
— He coughed a little before lifting his glasses.
— BYE BYE!
— His eyes averted to give them a tedious look, he soon marched to his first stop, with magazines coming out of his backpack.
— Let's leave the little siblings alone while we take the opportunity to explore the city and get a skin treatment.
The groups split up along the road, the rabbits taking advantage of the opportunity to race while enjoying their skates. On the pairs' side, Tech held his own head and the bag with his other hand, started vomiting again, and as Rev approached the hot dogs.
In the last pair, the duck stretched its legs as it did its nails, it didn't care about the plate that fell behind it as Slam explored the place. He, there, the bird just slouched his shoulders with the mask on his face. This one didn't stay on for so long until the Tasmanian devil ate the cucumbers. Which resulted in a blow with a magazine given by Duck, the other just laughed while the bird took a deep breath, went back to what he was doing.
Returning to the port runway, the rabbits sped off, dodging civilians, the tents remained intact as the laughter they said to each other was heard. Some snacks landed on the shoulders of the one in the yellow suit, with the one in the pink suit moving ahead of him. She played with a head accessory until she returned it to her owner without losing her charge, the urban environment disappeared until giving way to an atmosphere with narrow roots regarding the fauna that lived in the sea.
— I have to admit…
— The young man panted, holding his knees as he waved to her.
— This city is bigger than I expected, and look... look, I was still warming up to reach you!"
—I know well!
— The young rolled her eyes until she looked back at the other, a giggle as she stopped and pulled out her phone's camera.
The device approached a blooming flower, just as it was time to take the photo. The surroundings, however, created a heavy breeze for the visitors, which made the rabbits cover their hands over their faces until they noticed a figure above.
It wasn't a type of ship, much less a helicopter, their eyes opened until they tried to recognize the figure, It belonged to a young human woman with golden hair who was rushing past through the wings. The pair's eyes remained fixed on the feathers that shone like gold, the effect so hypnotizing until something fell right in the middle of them.
— HEY! COME HERE! YOU FORGOT THAT!
— The rabbit gestured, tried to scream for attention, without success, sighed weakly as he took steps back with his hands going to the backpack that was soon taken by Lexi.
— Wow! Looks like someone was in a hurry.
— rummaged around until he found the zipper, however, before he could close it, something fell to the floor. He picked up the notebook while flipping through a few pages and found the owner.
— Apparently, her name is Oriana Nadezhda.
— Oriana "Nadewva"?
—The young man scratched the back of his neck as he walked in to read the name.
—What kind of family writes without looking at the pronunciation?
— You know… Russian name?
— She flipped through the pages, one by one, until she stopped on a page with the traditional images and green notes.
"I think it will draw attention to the information..."
— Mom always taught me it's rude to see something that isn't yours.
— He joked before receiving the object raised in his face.
— No, really, look at the pages!
— Okay?
— He raised an eyebrow until he finally picked up the notebook. As he flipped through the pages, his ears pricked up at the news, bits of headlines, as he ignored the notes, he could not read enough, but he recognized the one belonging to the scenes of some type of criminal activity.
— Ha! Right now Duck is going to freak out about having a job opening.
— he closed the notebook, after a tug on the backpack he returned the object inside, then he resumed the race with the young woman, the skates positioned themselves until they went at full speed to where they would meet the human again.
Not far from the attention of the citizens, who moved from one point to another in a hurry, it was possible to recognize in the distance a police station with its bronze symbol. Some officers watched the movement, with the bears exchanging a humorous look upon seeing a figure with golden wings, they waved politely without noticing the closed expression on their faces.
The young woman removed the branches from the golden curls, she could slightly notice the change in color, however, that didn't matter as he marched along, brushing the dust and dirt off his puffy coat and trousers.
— I'm almost there... I'm almost there...
— The human tried to pull her belongings closer, gasped, tried again, failed again, until the result led to the entire weight being lighter as she reached the building.
After passing her hand over her forehead, she waved to the bears in uniform as she rolled up her sleeves, then she climbed the stairs with the countless objects, pulled a card from around her neck to check the door before passing through. The rest of the crowd of officers stared until she bumped into the office desk. The young woman arranged her golden curls until a pile of documents was placed where she could find a poodle lady who was drinking coffee and had a tense expression.
— Sorry for the delay!
— Tried to stop laughing, his laughter dropping an octave as he tensed up to the point where he was pulling hard on his collar.
— Sorry I'm late, unfortunately I missed my bus and had to use these darlings…
— wings flapped, the light reflected completely before taking on a gradient from blue to green.
— Hehehe, you know? It's not like it's easy to carry so much stuff, that's why I use the car so much…
— Hmhm.
— The canine signaled with her hand, which immediately silenced her while she reviewed the paperwork.
— Do you have any photographs of the hellhound case?
— Sure!
— Her cheeks gained color until she took a deep breath.
— Are the tracks left at the science center documented?
— Absolutely!
— Kept his hands behind his back as he nodded.
— And where are all the documents?
— In the…
— He quickly swallowed the dryness, while rummaging through his backpack he kept his little smile with all his efforts. He signaled with his hands for one more minute as he finished taking things out…until there was nothing left.
— She meant, in the NOTEBOOK?
All eyes went to the door, but the pair with ears and whiskers waved as they approached, not noticing the white that passed by the woman in white. The guards were in a good mood until they left the material on the bench.
— I had made it clear that this was a solo job.
— The officer adjusted the glasses and quickly took the item.
— But…
— She tried to argue, but she only sniffed heavily as a little rain cloud formed in her little head.
— Oh? Oh! Don't worry, we just came to return it!
— The boy in gold winked, smiling so much at his colleague that he didn't even notice the atmosphere around the young human.
— Lucky strike. Nadezhda.
The canine closed the notebook, signaled a dismissal notice as she left for the office with the information, closed the door, the other officers continued with their tasks until the human took a deep breath and pushed the cloud away.
— (Ofiget) офигеть…
— “I can't believe this…” said softly, returning to the ground while putting his belongings back into the recovered backpack, without noticing the lagomorphs' initiative to help.
— Can we have a word?
— Nodded as the umbrella left his hands and continued to gather the objects around its owner.
— Well, what would it cost? It's not every day you find…
— His eyes widened in realization.
— Loonactics? TWO Loonactics… — The young woman finished putting her things away, hurriedly threw her backpack on her back, and there were a few little jumps until she approached and shook everyone's hand.
— Oriana! It's a great pleasure to meet Ace and Lexi Coelho in person, isn't it?
— Oh, have we met before?
— She blurted out, immediately clearing her throat before correcting the way she found her body language.
— Sorry... but yes. I've heard a lot from you, and if my prediction isn't wrong, you've LOOKED at the documents in the hellhound case, haven't you? And if... I'm not wrong, you'll try to get involved in the case…
— the human took a few steps back to give the pair space, her mischievous smile widening as the nervous giggles came, She immediately gave a proud smile before looking back at them.
— Hehehe, I like this girl!
—the one in the pink outfit held her waist and her smile grew.
— The enemy of indiscretion, huh.
—The one in yellow nodded while rolling his eyes playfully, he could turn his attention to the other when he saw her taking flight.
— By the way, what's this angel performance? It even has little wings.
— Technically…
— Oriana scratched the back of her neck as she processed how she would tell it, paused, and returned her feet to the ground before coming with the bomb.
— Even though I'm the daughter of a spectacled bear who always smells like laundry, I'm REALLY just a "hybrid.” And the reason for the ducks in my bag or countless photographs is not at all strangely removed from work, everything is connected... is it all right?
— She held her arm, her eyes falling before receiving a small punch, which took away the human's worries.
— Hey, what could be embarrassing? Everyone has something interesting to do besides a pile of criminal documents.
— And… It’s a silly subject, most of my colleagues know, but I really…— she jumped a few jumps.
— I'm really happy to have met you guys! Well, two of the lunatics, but IN COMPLETED HAPPINESS!
— The laughter faded and he soon took the opportunity to hide the rest of his next steps, for a moment he took the backpack off his face and shook her head.
— That would be an easy Duck flattery.
— He drew a few giggles from the girls before snapping his fingers around to the main topic.
— Well…— Cleared his throat.
— About this Hellhound, what exactly is he up to? Is he some kind of super villain? A monster? A vandal?...
— Judging by the pattern of his recent opponents, he is a super villain, level five and extremely destructive.
— spied on the movement of his colleagues around him before putting his backpack down next to the other bags, for a moment he stopped to think about what his next step could be.
— Could you tell me what he's after?
— Oh…
— She scratched his neck before looking away.
— Unfortunately, I can't give you too many details. It's the rules here, and if I had another job, which, in this case, I DON'T... Hehehe...
— Her mood, however, didn't plummet.
— BUT, a visit to the science museum here will provide some answers. It's at 479 Nevermore Street. If you need help, I'm walking sideways."
— All right, buddy!
—The Loonactics glanced at each other before turning to her.
— Maybe later we'll try to fly together again.
— The rabbit repeated a soldier's gesture as he watched the young woman soar higher into the sky, his eyes fixed on his companion.
— We'll need to gather the others, there's no way we can go alone.
— Good point, Lexi.
— he connected the communicator to the call, with each team member's face over his device while their mustaches remained straight, the others noticed both his expression behind the mask and the atmosphere nearby.
— Guys, time to put on your mask, we have a villain here.
…
The science museum was closed at that time, but it wouldn't be enough for the figure to pass through the electric bars and enter through the ventilation. The mystery surrounded the visitor and, after a few attempts, he soon opened the entrance, respectively, the noise brought the attention of a guard. The guard adjusted his hat as he shone his flashlight around, Their footsteps slowed until the lights began to flicker violently and the ceramic pieces fell from the crack that covered only part of the room. A grumble could be heard.
— What could this be? It's really strange, I swore it would be closed even with the accounts up to date.
— The canine approached the electrical box, his fingers following the buttons until he moved away and let the lock close on its own.
When turned around, he found a silhouette leaning against the wall, showing a type of canine by its shadow until the pair of hair imitating ears was visible. Or maybe horns, the unexpected visitor ended up making the dog nervous, this one, without caring, continued with a crossword puzzle, the guard's ears pricked up as he approached with a baton in his hands.
— HEY! You shouldn't be here, the place is closed until March!
— Signaled with the stick until it touched his chin and he found the human figure.
—March… March…
— He scratched his chin with his pencil until he returned to the page.
—Oh! March Hare, good one!
— The boy wrote on the card before returning the notebook to his coat. Without realizing it, one of his gloves fell off, forcing him to remove all the dust from the coat.
The fur remained gray despite the effort, so he bent down to pick up the glove and put it back on his fingers, even as the restlessness followed his feet. Cautiously, he touched the stick that was pointed at his face, keeping a serene look as the object took the form of rot.
— HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THIS? THIS IS ABNORMAL!
— The guard lost his balance and fell to the ground. He threw the baton away, watching it crumble into dust. He continued to tremble as he tried to pull out some other equipment.
— Aw… Sorry, I'm not great at keeping things together, you know?
— The human man said with the slightest tone of sarcasm, his eyes turned to the officer who was trying to point the laser gun, his teeth remained sharp enough to scare the dog itself.
— You will surrender, regardless of the hole you came out of!
— He shouted as loud as he could, even though his arms were failing him every time he misaimed the "bandit."
— Oh? What's this.
— Adjusted his hood and followed the provocation of evident panic.
— I swore I'd be a good friend for competitions, but don't worry. Let's try again. I'm... I'm hellhound . The one who will never be forgotten wherever he sets foot, and I'm a local messenger. What about you?
— Don't you dare take another step.
— The guard signaled, impulsively grabbing the human's arm.
— WAIT!
— the man tried to stop him, desperation making him press his fingers together without realizing it, it was too late when he pulled away.
— No more jo…
— Dropped the gun, his eyes turning pale until he noticed his hand losing its color and quickly turning black, his chest swelling to the pulsing veins.
— AH! WHAT… what!
— He fell to his knees, the whimper coming from himself as he felt dust falling from his shoulders to the floor.
— Drat..
— The boy stopped as he approached the wall, then moved away as the room began to shake.
He shook his head as he ran around the place, finally finding what he was looking for and breaking it at the touch before taking a deep breath, his eyes shining white before putting a scroll away in his coat.
Soon the heroes arrived at the museum and, almost immediately, noticed parts of the ground and pieces looking like remains, divided, burned and even rotten. But what scared them most wasn't even the place in ruins, it was a police officer lying on the ground, agonizing in pain.
— Sir! Are you okay?
— The hero in yellow approached the fallen canine, his eyes locked on the man's arm.
— A-Ahm… Like this…?
The labrador's arm was burned... No... It seemed to go into a state of instant death… the arm seemed to be slowly crumbling away like dust, while the man was whimpering, begging for the pain to go away.
— What the hell happened? Who did this?
— The orange hero exclaimed, his feathers ruffled and he stood up just to observe the scene.
— I-it was… It was that crazy guy… He touched me and…
— The canine cringed, a small scream escaping as splashes gradually appeared on the gray fingers.
— But… How is that possible…?
— The green hero tried to maintain his composure, despite the obvious tremors in his body. He approached and activated the tablet…
In a morbid, noisy, perhaps comical irony, the answer came with a loud laugh, the tone distorted as the sound of footsteps approached them, which made everyone look at the figure in question. It was as if it were a human… However, It would be easy to mistake him for a wolf just by his furry clothing and the almost predatory appearance that followed his announcement in the environment. The shadow watched the heroes without much haste, raising his eyebrow, which could perhaps be perceived as surprise.
— Hm… So, you guys are the Loonactics?
— The villain asked with a wry smile, accompanied by a short, dry laugh.
— I didn't expect you to be in my city... I thought you were in another galaxy or something.
— WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT?!?!
— The pink heroine took a step forward, ready to shoot a psychic ray at him if he saw any suspicious movement.
— Oh, what? I just wanted to say hello… But he didn't ask if it was okay to touch me and… this happened.
— The man raised his hands in “surrender,” but without giving up his superior air.
— Unfortunately, I think my powers have a sense of kindness when it comes to holding hands or anything.
The source of the voice reached the surroundings, the lunatics held their places as the shadows swirled around the points, slightly their colors changed as boot steps came heavily towards them. The boy's eyes were reflected in white, the steps stopped and the shadows returned to his back and the wings opened, a function of what looked like a real little devil if it weren't for hair instead of horns. The team of heroes widen their eyes, some lower their ears, while in the case of one, Duck, he coughs in the midst of his near fall.
— I'm hellhound and it's a huge disgrace to meet the cheap Justice League cast in person.
— Ih… You're thinking too much of yourself in that outfit, boss!
— The one in orange stood firm, despite his fearful expression.
— What's the name of the Met Gala you're going to? Because you look worse than a street model in that!
— Hm… Met Gala? No, no… I'm not going to the runway…
— The criminal raised his eyebrow, his expression changing to a more frightening one.
— I just want to get ready for someone's funeral.
The heroes widened their eyes, the white covered their faces and the glow disappeared from their pupils, with those in front taking a slight step back.
— Oh… My condolences on your loss! Is he a relative? A friend? I bet he'll be a knockout at the funeral! Although, to pay a better tribute, you should wear a suit and less ripped clothes.
— The red bird chattered a little, however the looks of his companions soon made him realize the real situation, soon his face turned pale and a tense laugh came out of him, perhaps sluggishness.
— … Ah… He… He was talking about us, right?
— The roadrunner swallowed hard and took a few steps back as the boy smiled even wider and more pointedly, his eyes seeming to shine frighteningly…
— No problem with the values, I will delicately make your tombs.
— The mutant quickly energized the powers in his hands, a dark energy growing into a black aura, covering his eyes and the tips of his fingers.
The human went all out against the heroes, each one finding a way to avoid his touch. Like slow motion, as the fight continued, everything went black and white in his vision as he hunted his opponents.
The one in yellow counterattacked in an attempt, one attempt after another to immobilize him until hellhound pulled the cloak to the ground, a pair of wings went to the sky. The next step was for the roadrunner to follow, and they exchanged attempts to hit each other. Rev would land a successful kick until he was thrown along with him by the human.
The duck activated its powers, the essence reached the boy's face, his little smile fell when he noticed the essence evaporating and revealing the opponent's pointy teeth. hellhound pressed the ground until he threw the bird against a piece of furniture. The one in the pink suit lifted it using energy waves. For a moment, the human relented between his attacks until he launched an aura at the rabbit. As he lowered the wave, the cracks soon began to dissolve at the mutant's touch.
The man in the purple suit came from behind, he followed in circles until he formed a tornado. The human was trapped in the circle for a moment, however, he stared at the surroundings until he snapped his fingers and pressed the ground. The lunatics held their heads and tried to protect themselves as the cracks reached the entire building, the floor, the walls, the ceiling lost its lights, everything was broken, the fog rose and took half the place.
A silhouette in the distance of the commotion, near her house, soon dropped the keys. It was Oriana, and her face went pale until her hands quickly dropped the bags. When she regained consciousness, she hurriedly locked the door and rushed to the scene. As the fog cleared, the criminal wiped his suit with his coat and his hair blended into a shadow as he approached. His steps were like those of a predator, each step heavy until each of the lunatics regained consciousness.
The faces of each of the members fell in terror, nervous laughter until a dark essence was formed once again in the hands of the human who almost touched it until something hit him in the chest.
— Stop! I WON'T LET you touch anyone else!?
— the young woman gasped, for a moment she stared at the human until she ran to the guard agonizing on the ground, she noticed the wound reached her shoulder until her hands kept the golden touch on the wound. “It will be fine”.
— Look, do we have a new duckling in the pond?
— The criminal laughed, rubbing his hands together as he approached, his gaze fixed upon noticing the pair of wings on her back, his smile widening as he followed the trail towards her.
— What's your entrance called? Duckling, you came to the party for sure!
— I don't want to die.
— The guard sniffed, his eyes narrowed until he heard a melody and stared at the wound.
— What do you think you're do…
The gazes remained fixed on the human, the lunatics gathered quietly, but without looking away for a moment, Oriana's hands were covered in white energy.. The essence passed from his hands to the dark skin, the rot disappeared, the blood took on a white hue and before his eyes a light covered the lost area.
When the lights went out, there it was, the arm was brand new, the loonatics soon got up, certain of what they saw, with the spirit extending to the villain's shoulders until he walked and got up.
— Aw, so you can at least clean up my mess. Thanks, Duckling!
— The human clapped his hands, one slower than the other until he was face to face with the human, his eyes lingering on the long golden curls and the green eyes that growled silently at him.
— HM!
— You better leave… things are going to get ugly.
— She waved as the officer walked away, then for a moment she turned back to stare before quickening her steps to the opposite side.
— And DON'T call me duckling…
— She pressed her fingers together as she got into a fighting stance.
— Duck…
— The provocation came, however, and was soon rebuffed.
— DON'T CALL ME DUCKLING! YOU CRIMINAL!
— She went all out in his face and he took a few stumbling steps.
— OHHH! CALM DOWN!
— The man held his chin before smiling at the corners of his mouth.
— I need this beauty to win the maiden's heart.
The young woman gritted her teeth until she landed a kick, followed by a series of blows. Even with the young man's defense, he was thrown against the wall by the other woman's forceThe villain shrugged, his gaze fixed on him. The next step was when each of them was shooting energy at the other, a source of energy passing over the humans.
hellhound tried to hit her, failed, his eyes covered in red energy as he flew after her, the lunatics as they tried to escape the gunfire. Oriana followed the tallest one, eventually making him follow her as they approached, hellhound took advantage and kicked her, she was dragged across some rooftops until she pulled out one of the dropped bottles, hitting him enough before throwing him towards the ground.
It was close to the wings opening, both of them in the air as they tried to shoot each other, they followed one after the other, the wings almost collided until the blows became shots of their respective powers. Oriana rolled up her sleeves, and with one wrong step she was hit by dark energy. The other's excitement was ripped away as the source of darkness was reshaped, the criminal was shocked, in the midst of his distraction he was given space to be hit over the light source.
The human coughed dryly, the liquid splashed over his mouth, even so, he maintained the same expression as before, the smile took on a sarcastic tone until he raised his hands in the air. The human closed her eyes before pulling on the pair of handcuffs that kept them on her belt. Soon he was handcuffed.
— I like the style, Duckling.
— The human laughed until he was dragged by the shoulder.
— Oriana for you.
— Her eyes were on the side while his face remained red.
— Stressed out? Hmm! That's my type…
— Keep dreaming, no chance of going out with you.
— One chance? Leave it to me!
— The man winked until he was tapped on the shoulder. As the lunatics approached, he glanced at the handcuffs, then back at the meeting before activating his powers.
— HOO-OO!
— The yellow hero applauded as he approached.
— Nothing special, until I can do this…
— The duck said softly, soon receiving a pat on the arm.
— Don't be rude, how could you swoop down into the sky without wings? Technically you could, but of all the birds that…
— The roadrunner pulled at his own collar when he noticed the other's tense gaze, moving a little away from his space.
— I'd love to say a few words to the police station…
— The human gave a push as he approached the young woman, being careful not to touch her as she ended up in front of the lunatics.
— But I have places to be. You know what I mean? Then we'll get back to the game!
— Ahm!
— Oriana was left on the ground as the lunatics grabbed their weapons.
The team tried to advance against the criminal until an aura of energy threw them. Everyone was pinned to the ground until the one in the orange suit teleported there.
— LEAVE IT TO ME! I'll catch him.
— Duck jumped on him, and unfortunately, he dragged his face across the concrete after the human disappeared in black smoke.
— Well... that one's a quickly.
— The bird lifts its face, spitting out the stones that come out of its beak.
— Ahm. Hi?
— The young woman cleaned herself, and even though she was afraid, she offered the duck a hand, her body trembling until he shook hers.
— Right! Mr.… Danger? Danger Duck? Duck? And… hi! What 's up?
— Only Duck, for you?
— He looked away as she stood up, letting go of her hand as his face studied hers. He could see his classmates surrounding the new girl as they tried to get her attention.
— But after all, who are you on the resume, my sweet? You got the best of the troublemakers there like nothing else!
— Crossed his arms, his eyes quickly turning crimson.
— And… hehehe… Oriana Ov’e Nadezhda! I came because of the conversation I had with Ace and Lexi, I'm Walter Nadezhda's daughter and I was taking some classes as a police secretary.
— Walter Nadezhda?
— The coyote stopped for a moment, corrected his tone of voice when he noticed the looks, and waved as he approached with a red face.
— Oh… sure, I just wanted to ask if he could answer me about his addition to the theory of relativity, a little about his inventions… maybe, but of course it could be at any time…
— He whistled as he held his arms behind his back.
— I can't believe it... I was suspicious we'd find a mutant!
— The pink heroine held her hands out, her eyes already shining.
— “Hey! Miss?”
— Slam scratched his neck nervously, then for a moment returned the look of curiosity, while the young woman remained at peace with everything.
— YES! Please, I've never seen anyone fly that fast... sure, I'm one of the fastest mutants, well, I used to be the fastest. There are still many, whether in fiction or not...
— The roadrunner stopped talking as he received a pat on the head, his face softening with energy as his eyes shone like a puppy's as he waited to hear.
— Hehehe… I'd love to.
— Oriana spoke softly, her eyes darting around as she noticed the extensive damage. She moved away from the team until she touched something amid the wreckage.
— What did you think there?
— This is the address for corridor W-2AA. It's the local lab!
— Her voice dropped as he turned the flyer over.
— Is that what would be so much in this laboratory?
— The duck stared, took the paper before he even threw it, and the paper was almost caught by the green hero.
— Don't you know? That was the department that discovered the three chemical elements! Wow, I haven't heard of that place since college…
— The coyote swung its tail as it approached, leaning against the human's shoulder until it noticed her intense gaze.
— A few years ago, approximately half a century ago, three researchers were responsible for studying and testing the three new and most dangerous chemical elements…Positian, Electrorian and the only one that could stabilize was the Neutrian source.
— The human breathed as she recognized the names.
— I know the last one left of the old cast…
— Who is?
— Cain Armour…
— She blurted out before shrugging her shoulders.
— Looks like we're going to have to have a little chat. Okay, should we come along and answer some questions?
— The yellow hero approached, who, without realizing it, made the others follow him while she seemed to think for a bit…
— No problem!
— "No problem… ”
— The black-feathered bird walked, however, this was the one furthest away from the group, he could notice the lack of comments about his attempt to arrest the villain.
However, what kept the bird with its feathers ruffled and its eyes closed was precisely the attention its colleagues were giving the civilian, it could feel Rev and Tech pulling at her as they wanted to ask more about…
Who was the guy talking again? Nothing made sense anymore as Duck scowled until a door opened after he slammed his mouth shut. He sat in the kitchen with his companions. Even with a suspicious expression, his bright orange eyes changed to baby eyes when he noticed the snacks. Okay, after trying to be suspicious, at that moment he stopped to fight for the pistachio cookies against Rev and Slam's stomachs.
— HEY! Don't worry, there's more!
— Oh, Slam!
— The birds patted their colleague on the head until they were knocked back into their chairs, both sticking their tongues out at Slam.
…
The calendar had its days numbered, it was already a Thursday morning, the case had been started by the heroes. After another counter-response, the door that would give the answers was immediately knocked down, a cloud followed them as the guards entered with slow steps. The green hero grumbled until he was thrown onto the nearest sofa, then his purple colleague fell onto the arm of the sofa. The yellow hero let out a long yawn as he approached Oriana, who was pacing back and forth while marking data.
— So… was that the last trace of the criminal?
— She stroked her head as her feet stepped back, found themselves near the table and her face back to the rabbit, her eyebrows gradually falling.
— We couldn’t follow the last confrontation, in a way…
— He turned his head, his ears curling as his little nose pressed. Despite the greater risk, he could find some, small, but some patterns. His gestures continued to move as he continued his speech.
— He is still a bit uncertain about his goals, he often seems to do things unrelated to another. One moment he was robbing the research center, the next he was robbing jewels… And this last one was coming back from substances! What will be next? A snack bar? Uncertainty…
— It seems like one of those agent types to me, They have always had the tendency to do odd jobs to get some money for certain materials…
— He shrugged.
"But it's just a guess. The opportunity in the future shouldn't be that difficult after years of public service."
— the bird pointed to the side, well, which could be read as it continued to chew the biscuits from the tray on the table, soon being pushed back after the other bird's stare.
— an immense naivety y…
— Duck gestured with his fingers before pulling the last biscuit from his colleague's hands, sighed before taking a bite and settling down on the carpet, ignoring Lexi's gaze as he swung his feet.
— Actually…
—the canine cleared his throat as he removed Slam's arm from over his head, then walked over to the mural, his eyes glancing from the photographs to the fingers as he removed one.
— Maybe that's exactly what we're almost missing! Considering Hellhound's powers... he probably needs a way to stay so active, also… if we are not ignoring exactly the points that had to balance the theft to the search for data.
— his tail wagged until it came to a sudden stop with the movement of one of his colleagues on the mural.
— So…—he blinked a few times again.
—Would you venture to say there's a greater mind behind it all? Some sort of boss or commander of the invaded places.
— Certainly.
—He scratched his neck nervously and returned the image to the board.
—I'm just unsure about his motivation or the deal he MADE in exchange for providing so many samples, perhaps a revenge scheme.
— “HAHAHAHA! CLASSIC”.
— he pointed as he settled himself on the sofa, then he quietly removed a sweet from the walls of the little table, being careful as Rev and Duck were exchanging bottle caps.
— You guys talk too much about work! You're so frivolous! We're supposed to be relaxing, and we're already on day five of chasing that criminal. Come on!
— The bird corrected its feathers, then returned the tray to its hands before changing its facial expression as it noticed the provocative look of the other bird as it finished the last biscuit.
— And... is there any way I can get some more cookies? Please, the glutton here has made a loss.
— Look? Look who's talking!
— He stuck out his tongue as he buried his hands in his arms.
— Hm!
— He pulled one of the pillows before throwing it at the roadrunner, his face reddened from having missed the blow.
The photographs scattered across the room, the cushion stopped on the floor as the dice almost momentarily took the rabbits, their ears lowered as a door opened. With the orange bird noticing a ball of wool passing through the carpet, while the others stared at him, the roadrunner took the opportunity to spy on the door, which caused the other items to fall right on top of him during his espionage.
— Rev!
— The pink rabbit pulled him out of the pile, pushing some paintings and notebooks with her foot until she found the bird underneath.
— Is everything okay?
— Heheh… I remembered my little grandmother from Texas, hehehe!
— He held his head as the stars danced overhead, grumbling as he tried to regain his balance on his feet.
— Oh…
— She approached, rummaged through some things on the floor, then pulled out one by one of the sewing equipment, and when she found them all, she put what she found in a box. She quickened her pace when she noticed some things in question on the floor, which caused the human to almost trip over her own boot before rushing back.
— What help there?
— The yellow hero approached as he pushed some things on the ground, his eyes went back and forth from the ground, of the expression softening as she noticed the photographs and the items in question that the other was concerned about. She took on a humorous tone.
— NO!
—she took a deep breath.
—I mean… no, no, it's okay!
— her smile remained on her face until she fell to her knees after putting most of the items back in the closet.
Oriana took advantage of the position she was sitting in to correct the position of her earrings, after the hands continued to remove the dust from the sweater until the pupils dilated when they noticed something too familiar in the duck's hand. Her cheeks flushed as she saw he wasn't the only one with something in his hand. Silently, she covered her red, freckled face with her hands.
Her spirit left her body as he shrugged, a few chuckles would catch her, Duck, meanwhile, was busy putting a cape on her miniature bird. She returned to earth after being poked by Slam, Tech, and Lexi, who poked her head.
— Hum? I didn't know you were so well informed about us.
— The rabbit lifted its head before offering a hand to its companion. The headline remained on the ground until it gathered itself and the rabbit accepted the tug to get up. The one in yellow kept his good humor even with the other's grumbling.
— This is so embarrassing, I did this a long time ago…
— The young woman rubbed her face, keeping her fingers on the small image until it moved closer to a gap in the chair.
— At least he didn't notice…
— She pointed at the one in the orange suit, keeping a chuckle in her cheeks as he kept himself busy with both the doll and irritating the roadrunner.
— Don't worry, it's nice to meet a fan, and even better one who isn't the... crazy type, but relax! That's not the case.
— The young woman stroked her ears before giving the other girl a comforting pat from behind.
— Ha! Look at that, my new squire!... Duck Junior!
— The one in the orange outfit lifted the doll up, he could see the sparkle in her eyes before she turned back, the giggles and her face slightly red.
— Sure, sure, don't worry, maybe the purveyor of this beauty will one day notice the other lunatics…
— Adorable, big head in socks!
— The roadrunner pointed before receiving a blow from the pillow, coughing weakly as he tried to defend himself from the blows.
— I hope it's not a problem, he stays wi…
— What? Pff! I feel praised for the work.
— Oriana pointed before retracing her steps to the closet.
— Very good!
— he broke up the little fight.
— I think we've already made at least a mess at our friend's house, what do you think about us stopping by the pizzeria? Relax.
— The leader rolled his eyes playfully until he finished packing up the dropped items and handing them to Oriana, then he waved to the team.
The human locked the door and quickly hurried her steps as she tried to keep up with the Loonactics. The group waved and started talking again, with Duck rolling his eyes until he was cut off from his colleagues' attention, his mind wandering.
Upon arriving at the establishment, they continued on, and just as they were about to pass through, the door slammed into its beak, turning it over. The bird was boiling from the smoke escaping from its head, as their colleagues observed. The group stopped in loud, long bursts of laughter, correcting the position of their own beaks, He stood up abruptly and then slipped into Oriana's wake. For a moment, he rubbed his face as he received his seat when they were all together.
The following days were recounted by Duck, initially he might even have doubted that it wasn't due to paranoia, perhaps dramatic and perhaps a touch of envy. But it had only been at the pizzeria. He didn't know how to respond and could have been counting the moments too much, but he remembered them one after the other while holding a glass of water.
…
Duck slumped down in his chair, keeping his shoulders close to the fabric as he set out snacks for the start of a game, his hands almost wobbled with the controller, again someone knocked on the door, which forced him to open the door. At the same moment, his eyes rolled back, and then he recognized the face.
— Hi, Duck?
— Oriana waved loudly from side to side.
— Want to join a meditation session? We'd use our free time to train, fight, maybe... if you want, stop for leather recitation... that kind of thing, you know?
— she stopped waving as she held the pair of rugs, wiping the sweat from her forehead as her nervousness was broken the moment she noticed the indifference in the bird's gesture.
— That's very kind, but unfortunately I'm not available... you know? — he quickly moved to close the gate.
— ANYWAY! THANK YOU AND BYE…
— I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Dude, do you prefer to sing lead or second? How long have you been singing? Just asking... out of curiosity.
— the cream-coated rabbit came down, almost immediately stopping in front of the door while holding the human's hands, her steps remained on the ground and high up as she jumped.
— Oh, Sure!
— quickly changed focus, waved goodbye before being pulled out of the building.
— It's nice to have someone to play music with. I haven't been singing for long, but I can play the guitar. What about you? Which instrument do you prefer?
— Oh! I was just talking here!!
— the bird turned to follow the girls, however he took a step back when he noticed the two combining a secret touch, a handshake was followed by a little lap around each other and a high five.
…
The next time, the man in the orange suit walked through the condominium to a more open area, his steps returning to the route until he noticed a motorcycle stored in the jet area. He soon shrugged his shoulders, wondering what his presence at such a late hour meant, and headed towards the place, As I expected, Tech was moving the parts.
— Have you ever thought about resting your head for a moment? Bro!
— The black-feathered bird folded his hands, watching the coyote from the back as he repaired another motorcycle on the team, he leaned against the wall with his eyes rolling as he received a brutal silence.
— I'm busy fixing my darlings, Duck.
— He remained focused, at some point he turned to face the other, and without realizing the gesture, he made the other grunt.
— Of course, of course, of course…
— Her cheeks puffed out, unaware of the volume of her voice.
—If it were the little angel asking, you wouldn't even think twice, would you?
— Yes…the darling angel. As always.
— What do you mean by THAT?
— The canine turned off the blowtorch, lifted his mask as he rummaged through the toolbox, still maintaining a rigid expression, despite trying to understand the bird's signals.
— What would I say? You ALL fall for her sweet talk because of all her SWEETNESS! FRIENDLY and the high COURAGE she has…
— He didn't even realize his eyes were averted until he pressed his eyes shut in denial, rubbing his red cheeks.
The exact moment when I found the feathered mutants flying around the area, even though the young woman's wings made no sound, I could see her slowing down as she noticed the other's difficulties in keeping up, she would calmly stop until she caught the roadrunner from falling. Duck, the bird could only follow with his face marked by gnashing teeth.
— Duck. Please. Oriana is one of the few allies we have. Why would she be pretending or trying to have ulterior motives?
— He scratched his beard until he realized, his ears swung with the scenery, he gave a wry smile as he went back to work.
— Of course, envy? HA! Is the duckling jealous of a half-duckling?
— OF COURSE NOT!
— The sentence came out of her mouth, and in the few seconds she tried to compose herself until she was knocked down by a sonic flight from the mutants.
— REV! Be careful! You might hit something.
— Just on the mark for second place!
— The bird laughed before passing through the ease of the rooftops.
— Okay, is that so? Then so be it!
— The human adjusted her sleeves and walked past him. For a moment, she nearly knocked things over until she spun around the ceiling and stopped for her arrival at an elevator in the Loonatics apartment, He danced his victory on the balcony, then waved gently as he watched the other grunt in defeat.
— Lucky break…
— Best of three?
— She teased.
— Best of three? Definitely!
— The bird quickly takes to the sky.
— Me? Will I be replaced by her? It's impossible, isn't it?
— He swallowed hard at the silence, he lowered his shoulders as he walked out of the room, ignoring the laughter, then raising his shoulders at the feeling of resistance that came. He wouldn't let the exchange happen so soon, that would be the first step, he should confirm with Ace first, right?
…
— Knowing, it's cool, it's helping you guys. It's the last time I don't have to take on extra paperwork to pass the time.
— Oriana leaned against the bar as she watched the dusk sky, her locks swaying in the air, her eyes lowered as the lights came into view in Bottown Bay..
— Technically, you could make more of this if you tried in Acmetropolis, there's a lot of activity that deserves to be investigated by our police, you know?
— He rubbed his gray fur as he stood with his back to the bridge. His calm gaze could be seen, she would playfully pat the other on the shoulder when she noticed her composure was lower, a little downcast.
— Are you serious?
— She corrected her voice, coughed a little, then looked back at him.
— Of course! There's always room for everyone in the big city.
— He beat his chest before correcting his gesture, picking up his sword from the ground, and wiping his feet, covered in dirt.
In a part close to the roof, I could hear something strange, slow feet climbing the stairs as the conversation continued. It turned out to be the Lunatic in an orange suit while carrying a headline in his hands and the same one that was being crumpled, as far as he could hear.
— I'd love to go to Acmetropolis! I... I just didn't want to abandon my life here, you know? I basically grew up here since I was a little kid… My father still has trouble staying focused, which would be a disadvantage, and in a way, my contract remains active until hellhound 's arrest.
— “What does she mean by that?”
— It's fine.
— The rabbit moved toward the stairs, stopping before opening the door.
— I won't force you in any way. It's your freedom, and if you see that you have reasons, know that we'll always have a spare space."
— Thanks for the invite, Ace. It's best we close this case as soon as possible. In the next fight, I'll make sure none of the criminals escape my sights.
— “Invitation?..”
— Duck crumpled the leaf in his hands without realizing it, his eyes closed as he walked down the stairs with heavy steps as the small leaf was blown away by the wind. He didn't notice his name being called in the distance... was it wrong? Will they change it to ANOTHER?
— What a strange noise…
— The rabbit scratched the back of its neck until it noticed something on the ground, retrieved the leaf, and then shook its head for a moment.
— Ace? Listening to planet Earth?
— the young woman joked until she had to cut the joke short when she saw his expression.
…
It was the period when the stars came out, the clouds hid their steps with each ray of light. For a little while, the mind was stuck observing the great stars. The human boy kept his eyes fixed on the moon, his eyes closed and, with them, his wings carried him once more close to the ground. Finally, he stopped on solid ground, the wings soon closed like a cape, only for the sirens to make him open his eyes and quicken his steps.
The officers tried to follow the criminal's trail, however, the boy kept pace, the police car followed behind, but he held on to the wall before taking a step to pass through the stairs. The only detail that could be found in the place was the fur on his coat, which disappeared, his steps were cut short until silence remained.
The lanterns moved back and forth until they met a bank of smoke, the ashes rose softly and which made the officers present shrug their shoulders before leaving for another area. However, at the signal to march, the line of ash soon headed across the sky, there was the impression of eyes being visible on the shore until they closed and went out.
A little while ago, not so far away, it was visible to find a young woman hurrying through the city, his eyes drifted back to the ground as he tried to speed up to get to the subway. However, it was almost inevitable that her luck would return. The human tripped over one of the newspapers, halfway up the stairs, the last passenger arrived until the doors were locked. The grumbling could be heard as the young woman looked at the weather, She then opened her coat before revealing her wings, the golden feathers reflected the light from the poster, as she took off, unfortunately she hadn't noticed the smoke that was following her closely.
— Hm! Hmhm! It's good to feel this chill...
— The young woman twirled around in the sky, her light voice ignoring the sound of raindrops as she approached her destination. Her eyes, however, opened again as she recognized a small noise in the room, faint laughter, even as she blinked, it was almost unbelievable to her, the second she felt fingers poking her shoulder.
— I would be careful with the amount of rain, you will get a cold if you are not careful.
— the young visitor waved, even though he had made it for himself, he couldn't contain the little face he had found in the light scene.
— Hey, duckling!
— Hellhound!?
— she shook her head before correcting her own composure, trying to instantly attack him until she missed one time after another until she almost stopped flying.
— O-oh! Calm down, you little skewer, what do you think you're doing here?
— She moved in front of the clouds, rubbing her shoulders for a few minutes until the earth formed a wall.
— An unexpected visit to my favorite flyer, an unexpected walk, hours.
—I kept my wings open, despite having joined the pause between the walls.
— You should have more sense than to think I'm going to let a criminal escape from having his cell!
— She pouted as her cheeks puffed out before her eyes became watchful over his movements.
— Hey, I'm not that bad…
— He gestured, despite the opposing movement of his wings.
— It's just my line of work, it's how I make my living! No one's judging, a secretary tries to act like us, doesn't she?
— Say what you're looking for right away.
— Well, it's you."
— He blurted out, amused, and it follows that the young woman's cheeks remained rosy from the speech.
— But answering with a bit of seriousness, I was just letting you know that you better not interfere in my work… of course, it’s not for the visits, I’ll love to have your company even if it costs me face.
— Pff! Excuse me, sir! But why would you be so concerned about my safety? It's almost like you're being an accomplice to a serious guy.
— You don't have to try hard to always be right,
— He gestured with his hands, lowering his fingers at the exact moment he had a circle formed by his fingers around her.
— I know this isn't the first time in that fight you've been on my trail. You were following my work, surely?
— Maybe.
— She turned around as she sat down, her composure loosening in parts as she noticed him respecting the distance, however, her eyes strayed across the buildings to the human beside her.
— But really, why would you be here this time? You've always been the type to steal auction merchandise.
— I found something here that might work well for me,
— He joined her, but sat on the other side.
— Since this is a small town, it's easier to find suppliers or comparators, and in a way... my new banker is paying both in cash and in tools.
— “Tools”?
— Technically, when you have the cursed touch you have to find a way to neutralize the impacts.
— He would say it shortly, he wasn't trying to be funny or even make a joke, his eyes remained closed when he had to say the last piece of information.
— Well…
— Oriana cleared her throat, trying to comfort the weight she caused the other, but soon covered her mouth with her own confusion.
— I think there's always a good option to try to control mutation; often the main thing is just our mind. Right?
— My powers aren't exactly the easiest thing to deal with based on words, I think it's clear enough how difficult it is even on the most...fragile things.
— Ah?
— She gave a provocative look at the question, however, she continued to gradually approach the boy, her fingers moving before being next to his hands.
He pulled his hand up, but it was accompanied by the moment his fingers slowly lowered the palm he grabbed, the mutant kept his eyes glazed over the other, for now… for now I had to try to stop early.
— Ahn. What do you think you're doing!
— He turned his attention to her as he realized the situation, his body paralyzed as he realized she was holding his palm.
— If it's really true... why haven't I turned to dust?
— She raised and lowered the tip of each of her little fingers while holding the other's hand.
The boy hid his face with his hand, the color passing over his cheeks as he tried to get rid of it immediately. However, he couldn't help but stare as she pulled the glove from the same palm. He took shallow breaths until he realized that… nothing… nothing was happening, she was still whole.
— So, doubt cleared! You don't need to worry about addictions if you want to avoid harming any little creature on earth, right?
— The human returned the glove to its place, after tapping the boy on the shoulder, and then returned to the seat.
— “She was still in one piece.”
— He stopped for a moment, his face pressed against the penthouse floor, his hands passing over his forehead as he tried to blink. He held his hands, took off his gloves for a moment, as he stared at the image of the past, it was ripped away.
hellhound could return to hearing the cries after an accident with his touch. He could hear the officer that night screaming at the top of his voice as his fingers were covered in darkness, the dust slipped along with the canine's own tears.
In a more distant time, I remembered the screams I encountered along the way, the smell of ash rose, nothing but smoke covered his consciousness as the years passed after the great explosion that had occurred in the United States a few decades ago.
He stopped for a second, his eyes opened when he heard heels on the counter, made him get up and look for the other mutant and grumbled when he found nothing familiar until he murmured at a blow from behind on his hood.
— HEY!
— HAHAHAHAH! SORRY!
— She held her hands over her mouth as it flew closer with its wings in front of it.
— I couldn't resist... in a way it's already too late to stay, but it was really cool interacting with the “much feared and gothic” hellhound. If there were another occasion, it would be nice to know…the real one, the real one before the bad guy.
— Hmm! I made you feel a bit too confident, didn't I, little duckling?
— He crossed his arms, before giving a small smile as he observed the beloved golden bird.
— Well… you can just call me Oriana, or, Oriana Nadezhda…
—…Draven Drummond.
— The human responded with a hand pointing at her bag, he let out a sigh and then waved back in farewell…
— Bye-bye, King Midas!
— Bye-bye, hateful bird…
And she left, but what remained for Draven was only the silence of his own conscience, his fingers remained on his bare fingers, Unfortunately, the noises came back to him and each day he had never resolved the doubt.
He should ask someone for advice.
…
Time ticked on the wall as a black silhouette disappeared into the shadows, its tracks merely the marks of a predator's appearance, this one that returned to its cave. This was the vision of the young bird, in which they were once again defeated by the criminal. As he walked away from the base, he turned to look back and a long sigh came out of him.
— I can't believe they would actually trade me... she's not even that!
— The bird in orange kept his hands in his pockets, his face furrowed with eyebrows until he stopped in his tracks, leaning against a sink to observe the long view of the sea.
— I really have to find a way to prove that I'm still capable, I CANNOT be left behind after everything we've been through.
Not much was revealed, a fox of discolored hue took the watcher's view in the distance. Almost a sudden step, his claws hid as the face of his phone went out of range. Over a slight smile, He soon left his things nearby and went to the bird when he recognized the hero's composure.
— I see you have problems, young man.
— The canine waved subtly, keeping only its claws hidden as it waited for the bird's reaction and, as it stared, it noticed a kind of positive in its hand.
— Ha! It's not too hard to see how much trouble I'll be in if I don't find a way to improve my powers.
— His hands moved abruptly until they stopped when he noticed the other man focused on the device.
— May I ask what yours is, my sweet?
— He covered his hand over the device as he stared at him.
— Cain Armour, at your disposal !
— He undoes the reference, then leans against the bar.
— I just wish I could understand why you'd be in so much trouble, see... you have too much potential to just accept being a player to download. Don't you?
— The canine lifted his glasses as he studied her movements, keeping his ears straighter as he noticed her indifference to his name.
— Hum? How strange... I feel like I've heard it somewhere before.
— The boy scratched the back of his neck as he tried to process the name, he had heard it somewhere, but he didn't remember it until he heard the most important part of his interest.
— I'm just having some problems with my team. I get the feeling they want to trade me for a fake bird, you know?
—he returned, giving me a severe look.
— But out of curiosity... what do you want for that? Oh, curious!
— Maybe, yes, maybe not, you can't know if you're not answering my questions... and me? Oh! I'm just a businessman and my main activity is to sell what will avoid problems and bring you energy!
— The fox moved the case over his hands, for a moment his eyes took on the tone of a violet stone before stopping in his hands and some bottles appeared before the other's eyes.
He watched the briefcase with his eyebrows lowered, his fingers approached for a second before quickly withdrawing. He wouldn't be sure about that... he looked back at the canine before he closed the case, he remained silent and judgmental before walking around the bird.
— You don't have all the value to be your most improved version! I've noticed this fact from afar…
— His tail swished sideways before his eyes were visible over the lenses, at which point his gaze was as unsettling as the movement of great disappointment.
— Hey! Of course I can… I can change, change since I know myself in everyday life…
— My work isn't just for any skewer who thinks they're entitled to all the effort I put into pursuing my work. But you know what? If you really want something effective, you need to have courage…
— He fidgeted with his collar as he tried to hide something about his behavior, however, it wasn't very visible, at that moment the other took his words into consideration.
— Do you really have the courage, the big duckling?
— They hurriedly revealed themselves the moment they had the answer.
— I DO!… I, I do…
— His free hand soon returned to his arm, his eyes raised as he received a nod from the canine to follow.
— There is only one little rule here.
— He stopped him, pointing with his index finger at one of the claws.
— Once you're in, you never come out the same way you came in... and to get more, you'll have to fulfill the agreements, okay?
— Okay, okay, whatever you want, let's go.!
— the bird marched ahead of the canine, head straight as it stared at him, rolling its eyes before hopping a few steps forward.
— “Much manipulable, it seems.”
—the phrase was whispered, a line of smoke passing by the fox's feet as it camouflaged itself until night fell.
The lights intensified as the door was opened, then it was more noticeable to be an office environment, the orange bird passed over the presence around the books and documents and avoided the glass one. After removing something from his feet, he would relax in the swivel chair until he noticed the canine preparing a substance with the laboratory equipment, which caught his attention until he realized he would change the basin for a kettle and put powder on the fire, the schedule would stop at medium.
— What exactly is this?
— the bird rolled its shoulders as it tried to get the details of the process, it was stopped by the blow of the door slamming, before long it returned to the same position until the fire was turned off.
— Enestantina.
— He said in a low tone, his ordinary glasses were placed on his face after finishing production, he threw on his gloves before collecting the kettle and filling the boxes one by one right to the edge.
— Is it a type of tea?
— It's considered the same formula, but the tea isn't as potent as what this beauty makes.
— Ha…
— His throat sounded dry.
"Hahaha, I'm supposed to be honing my skills, and here I am listening to an old man who does illeg… illegal?
— His feathers stood on end on his neck, his eyes returning to the canine before his memory took effect.
The bird remained seated in the room until he tore off the paper on his feet, his eyes fell when he realized that the image in question was one of the pictures in the human's apartment. He recognized the figures in the photograph, except for the paper that was falling apart in his hands. His regret would come when he looked up at the chair next to him. A cloud of smoke covered the chairs in the aisle. With his legs crossed, he recognized the wolf's silhouette as the boy drank the shot.
— So, this is the kind of henchman you get? I should have posted earlier that I would have the least suitable option to defeat them.
— He let out a smirk, his eyes slightly taking on a ruby hue before returning to their usual violet eyes, although if that really was his usual…
— hellhound !
— The bird jumped from the chair to the table, its legs trembling from side to side as it moved until it stopped back in its seat after being knocked down by a blow from the mutant's foot.
— What the hell are you doing here! You're not David... Are you?
— It's Draven…
— He corrected, his teeth grinding, then returned to a sip.
—It's DRAVEN Drummond for you, duck boy.
— So... are you working for him after all? What exactly would he get in return... he can barely keep a clean office…
— He let the comment slip, it was too late by the time he received a glare from the canine and a short laugh from the boy, which brought him back to the lowest point in his own seat.
— It's times like these when it wouldn't be a bad idea for the little angel to show up...
— He mumbled until he received a human elbow.
— Oh! That hurt!
— shut…
— The human stopped until he noticed the canine's gaze.
— Oh! It's good to have remembered…
— He turned from his seat to the human.
—Could you finally tell me which of the officers ATTACKED you?
— It doesn't matter...
— His fingers stopped on his head, rubbing his hair as he could see his veins moving until the bird's coughs changed color.
— Are you saying you didn't mention getting beaten up by the golden human?
— The bird let out, its arms supporting its beak until it noticed the other's mood intensify with the black essence that rose over its hands.
— Who is this human? Don't tell me it's Nade…
— YOU DON'T CARE!
— The mutant's pupils disappeared as they both reacted and noticed his change. Ele respirava o mais fundo antes de se lançar de costas para behind, he pulled his cup before returning the dry container.
Each one was huddled on the ground, even with the situation the bird remained ready to defend itself against the movement that held a bubble of energy as its body trembled in front of the mutant. The bird, one step behind the other, let the energy descend onto the bench, the acid burning the wood in parts until it took away the canine's interest.
— I…I really did that?
—not even he believed the question. He returned to his chair to carefully examine his hands, then grabbed the back of his neck before noticing a cup in front of him.
- What are you doing?
— Hum, What do you think? Experience.
— the fox rested his hands on the table, his fingers held in place with gloves and tweezers. For a moment he remained focused on the collection before he dusted off his sleeves and placed the material in the glass container.
— If my hypotheses are correct, there really would be a way for this formula to not be so unsuitable for other mutants. It would be a complete improvement for anyone who took it!
— Ha!
— The man coughed, leaving his fingers in his hair while the shape of ears remained in the topknot.
— Don't be overly curious, old man. That little duck wouldn't even know how to fly if it had wings, let alone with that formula in its body and affecting the little sense it DOESN'T HAVE."
— And… what if I didn’t take it?
— The bird poked the cup with its fingers, his pupils slightly gained a violet light as he noticed the hands of each of the residents crossing until he directly received the cup in his hand.
— You'd miss a lot...
— The canine signed as he pushed the mutant.
— You wouldn't miss something you never missed. Maybe you'd learn to miss something that never should have been.
— The human recruited, stopping the moment he noticed the taps on his face, which drew a growl from him to the other.
— You would lose something by agreeing to leave... this negotiation is the last way to regain your dignity!
— The fox controlled himself, but the instability in his voice was visible.
— What are you talking about?
— The human kept trying to remove the gloved hand from his face until he was knocked off his chair, muttering softly until he realized the scene. Instead of an angry face, he looked away before lowering his hands to brush off his coat.
— Then you're heading down a path of no return... duck boy.
— I can't lose my place...
— The bird blurted out.
— Let's go. The only straw that will get everything back to the way it always was: you get your job back, I get MY JOB back, and that kid over there is no longer my dependency...
— The fox's hands remained on the cup, gradually the claws caught on the support as it approached the duck’s face.
— Everyone will win. In return, it won't be a big deal; I'm just researching more scientific updates; everything will be put back in place now. Don't you want things to go back?
— drat
— The human murmured… His hand lowered as he saw him going.
— Once won't hurt.
— the orange hero closed his eyes before taking a drop from the cup, his body shivered until his feathers took on a bright color among the black feathers, his eyes slowly opened.
The bird's brown eyes were taken to a pink light, a look of satisfaction was given by the fox as it turned back, but Draven sighed before looking at the cup in his own hands…his eyes slightly turned red again, it left the container half full on the table as I let my thoughts come to me while I stared at him.
…
In the morning, business hours continued as usual until, suddenly, the alarm went off around, a small group of criminals rushed to the getaway car. However, the Loonactics who were not so far from the scene prepared at full speed to interfere.
The guards arrived on the scene after a blow to the van's tires. The one in the yellow suit grabbed his sword and continued to herd the bandits into one space, while the ones in purple and red handled the heavy weaponry. The one in the pink suit dove underneath the group to create energy waves to counter the beams, one of the criminals while loading his pistol, setting up the base before it reached the barrier.
As the fight progressed, a figure in an orange suit followed, watching from afar as he clasped his gloves between his fingers. The bird, after stepping forward, continued down the stairs and used the moment to recharge his powers and thus achieved a collar aura over the main shooters.
The team waved to the one in orange, one moment he pulled out an arrogant wave , he stopped to dodge some blows and then teleported back and took down one by one that he could . The duck jumped one after the other, its feet dodging from shot to punch, the team kept pace as they collaborated to end the counterattack against the heroes.
Looking from a distance, the red bird cornered the escape attempt, trapping them in a circle of energy. These bandits were soon hit by a bubble of glue. However, the money continued to float from the falling bags until Duck teleported it back in parts. He wiped his hands as the group gathered after a long struggle.
The orange bird waved to the officers who appeared, leaving the money in their hands as the bandits did on the door of the police car closest to the new arrivals.
— Ha! What would you say? I worked on the training sessions.
— The orange hero suit puffed out his chest as he wiped the dust from the sleeves of his suit, he approached with an excited look until all the mood fell at the expression of his colleagues… they were… Were they surprised? Indeed, they didn't seem disappointed as they began to celebrate their first victory. A silly face covered their beaks, that was enough.
— That was amazing! Duck, I had no idea you could modify the matter of your power. What have you been up to for the anti-work?
— The Red hero,he jumped up and down as he passed from one side of the bird to the other, his fast pace was momentarily interrupted by the duck until he received a little punch on the shoulders.
— Knowing how it is, Rev. Nothing happens overnight, I've been training to perfect this detail that I found these days.
— The duck rubbed the handkerchief over the triangle of the suit, a little while after throwing the cloth over his shoulders.
— Hmm.that's strange... I don't remember seeing you training on the jet's camera, was it somewhere else?
— The green hero suit raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed before he had to leave.
— "Hahahahah! Slam is happy for Druckin, the little guy finally got his day to shine, ha! How about teaching him a few more moves, huh?"
— The purple hero rubbed his fingers over the bird's head as he laughed, soon followed by a few rounds of applause.
— Hahaha... thanks a lot, Slam.
— The bird smiled despite having difficulty moving under the Tasmanian devil's arms, escaping from his grasp, rubbing his fingers together to fix his hair.
— What do you think about us taking the opportunity to celebrate a little? I'm sure you'll love learning Duck's little secrets.
— The yellow rabbit patted the duck on the shoulder, with the latter smiling foolishly as he slowly followed behind his companions.
The bird's eyes lit up as he noticed all his colleagues keeping him in the center while asking questions, or the next, just going on to have a relaxed conversation. Not so far away, a silhouette remained hidden in the shadows. Its red eyes became violent as it became suspicious of the change. The main activity involves the bird's welcome reunion with the group. The individual disappears after a vehicle passes by the alley, and time passes several hours after the event.
— Yes, the samples found have already been sent to the department!
— She pulled out her phone, leaning it against her shoulder, legs crossed as she walked with a pen in one hand and the other holding the pins.
— Don't worry, the witness in the Barbiera Hills case has already been scheduled for the next hearing on Friday. Please hold, there's a new number on the line…
— The human ends the call before dialing the next number, her hands held on the back of her neck as she takes a deep breath, rubs her cheeks, and squeezes her forehead before dialing.
— Oriana!
— Oh, one moment!
— She pointed the phone at her seat, swiveled her chair toward the voice. She raised an eyebrow, realizing too late that…
— How could I he…
—she shook her head from side to side, a snort coming out of her nose. For a moment, she was about to return to her post until she noticed a note taped to the computer.
“I need to warn you about someone, however I can't give you that information without telling you that someone you know very well has ended up in the hands of Cain Armour.”
She poked the sheet with a pencil until it tore off, her pupils getting smaller as she finished reading the entire note, she only stood up while the sheet was crumpled between her fingers and passed the documents to their places. Then, Oriana pulled her coat over her back, continuing to fly while trying to reread what was written on the sheet, a direct danger warning!
Duck walked around the dormitory relaxedly, putting his socks back on his undershirt while singing until his eyes met the marks that were left on his body, the towel fell over his feet as the boy crawled to the mirror.
— Hell…
— His fingers trembled for a while until they touched one of the colored veins, the hue changed from white to violet, he immediately grabbed the beak when he heard some knocks.
He sorted through his belongings, throwing anything useless along the way until he finally found something that covered his body up to the neck, hurriedly pulling down the zipper while stretching out his sleeves.
— Duck! Come on, I know you're not a big fan of Oriana, but let's at least get an update on the hellhound case. Could you come down a little faster?
— The yellow rabbit wiggled one of its ears before turning its back upon finally seeing the face of the black-feathered bird.
— Hahahah…
— He tugged at his collar as he followed, twirling the garment until they reached the outside of the building.
— Sure, sure, sure.
The team headed to the east side row of apartments, which resulted in a group of animals standing on the doorstep as they waited for evidence of existence through the door or windows. Ace walked away from the door around the group's approach. Rev and Tech played chess until Rev realized he needed to face the orange bird again, which in small steps raised concerns at home while Duck tried to appear not to care.
— Oh, you guys were waiting around here?
— The human rubbed her eyes as she gathered up her keys, opened the door as she watched the group, raised an eyebrow when she noticed Duck in his coat, her gaze immediately returning back
— Yeah. For that coat.?
— Nothing else…
— Duck, what do you mean? “Nothing else”? Why the hell are you wearing a coat? It's like 28 degrees here.
— The canine got ready as it approached, for a moment it was pushed away by the past until the bird rolled to the side. He could faintly see purple marks over his veins, almost as if they were pulsing more than normal.
— I-I… Eh… I just woke up cold!
— Are you sure? Your eyes look different than usual. .
— The human pointed to what she was pulling out, lowering her head as the bird looked at her. For a moment, she thought she was observing the boy's physical movements.
— Do you have a fever? Have you caught the flu? If you need it, do you have any medicine? One of the symptoms of a fever is feeling cold even when there are no external factors acting on it! Don't worry, we have some antibiotics that…
— The bird in red pulled pages from a notebook, which ended up floating with the use of super speed until his hand stopped on his colleague's shoulder.
— Rev…
— His teeth ground together at the undue proximity, and even with his blurred vision, he couldn't help but remove his hand from her shoulder.
— CAN YOU DO THE MOUTH CURVE? IDIOT! I'M FINE!!!
Unease covered the group's lips, no one would open their mouth as they stared at the birds, with the canine helping the human to help the one in red to get up, which soon drew a frown from some people regarding his behavior.
— H-hey! What's up? I was just offering to help…
— The red-robed bird held onto the arm he'd shoved.
— What did I do?"
— What did you do…? What did you do!
— He laughed dryly, brushing his shoulders off as he ignored the fact that he had pushed his colleague.
— It's that voice of yours! That annoying voice that always rings in my ear nonstop, saying the most annoying things possible! How the hell do you even put up with yourself? It's almost impossible to understand what you spit out.
— Duck, that's not even a nice thing to say…
— Oriana kept her arms around her waist, she tried not to move too far away from the bird in red and turned to the duck, without realizing that her eyes shone with a golden light.
— We are concerned about your behavior… and that just means we are concerned about checking it out!
— Look at my little flower here, it's not a flowerbed for any weed to pass through,
— He took a firm step forward, his eyes flashing a violet light for a moment as he growled at the girl..
— After all, what do you really want by being here? She could have already solved the problem with hellhound if she wasn't interested in maintaining her pathetic chance of being something outside the police department...
— Oh, her eyes returned to normal, the brightness of her pupils filled for a moment before disappearing.
—I didn't think I was that much of a problem, I thought I was giving you guys a little help enough…
She had her eyes on him before turning away, keeping herself stuck in her shoes.
— NOW IT'S TIME TO GET THERE! Duck!
—Tech bared his teeth as he walked in front. He could see Rev was hurt by the comment, which only increased his anger.
— Look, I understand that you're stressed... But taking your anger out on anyone does NOT help your mood, you know?
— Pfff… Look who's talking! You? Talking about feelings?
— He laughed until his voice grew thick.
— Speaking directly to the person who cares LEAST about other people's feelings? The person who claims to be the greatest genius and who, in the end, only cares about themselves! The same person who left their colleagues in the Vel…
— He realized what he had said, for a moment his consciousness had not yet realized until the yellow rabbit tried to hold his shoulder.
— I didn't… I didn't do this for me! I was supposed to release Rev and Lexi…
— The coyote flattened his ears as he felt the eyes on him, but he only turned away to hide his hurt.
— Duck! I'll just ask you to apologize once. You have no right to treat your FRIENDS and COLLEAGUES that way.
— Ace stared at him until he received the same look.
—And why would you obey the big boss? It's always like this every single day, don't you ever get tired of maintaining that perfect composure? I really doubt you have emotions when you only give orders for what you are NOT supposed to do, the boss must have found you in some dirty alley and probably below your authority…
— Reality dawned on him the moment he noticed the glow fading from the rabbit's eyes.
Duck turned around, realizing that the human was trying to comfort the others, but she had already drowned her crying face in her hands in the middle of her conversation with Lexi, wait, Was Rev sobbing too? The others followed with straight eyebrows glued together in shock as they watched their hearts break.
— … I have to go!
— He disappeared with a single teleport.
— DUCK! WAITING!
— The pink heroine tried to keep up with him, hitting her face directly against the wall when the teleport was about to act, she got back on her feet when Ace helped her.
— There's something very strange, Duck has never been like this!
— The rabbit pointed as he patted Rev and Oriana on the shoulder.
— Unfortunately, there's not much escape... Draven was right...
— She trembled the moment she could sense the signs…
— What… what did he say?
— The rabbit pricked up his ears when he noticed her closed eyes.
— What if he was under the influence of something? What if he was experiencing the after-effects of something like…
— The human pulled out the note once more, and could tell it was part of a prescription as she reread the information.
— A drug, a potent drug?
— How could he have lost his mind to use something like that? Why would he go so far as to use something like that… and more importantly, how did you know that?
— The canine scratched his neck, but looked at the person.
— … I had a conversation with hellhound to look for answers to each of the crimes, he was the one who came to warn about Duck's action.
— She said, keeping her eyes on everyone while awaiting any kind of punishment… her eyes widened when she noticed a touch on the canine's shoulder.
— Okay, at least we'll have something to catch whoever's in the final scheme...
— He grumbled before punching her shoulder.
— But the time ahead is too precious to waste.
— So let's go! Okay, Team, let's go after Duck!
— The hero waved, the group following suit, as they considered where he might be at that moment. He sighed, his hand over his ears, as he reflected on his sorrow.
At the last location, the duck teleported to the roof. He stared at the hands that slowly spoke over his eyes, soon he was holding his head as he could feel the marks creeping up his neck.
The only thoughts running through his head were exactly how much he had caused in less than a few lines. He had no right to say that and that fact was driving him to his knees in the middle of the door. Each of his pupils turned completely purple as he forced himself to move, his feet trembling.
He, for a second, knocked on the door, which turned into punches, until he saw it open and could see, attentive to the screams, He rolled his eyes as he silently followed the central room to the back. The bird's feathers became discolored with each passing moment until, upon finding what it was looking for, it created an acid bubble.
— I DON'T GIVE A DAMN THAT SHE'S YOUR EX COLLEAGUE'S DAUGHTER! The problem is all yours, thinking that you would let another person get destroyed in front of me.
— Draven bared his teeth as his powers took on energy balls.
— Just because she's getting in your way doesn't mean I'll follow your stupid rules to the letter.
— Hahahahah…
— The canine took off his glasses, his fur standing on end as he approached with a stick in his hands.
—So you'd really surrender? You're going to throw away all your efforts for freedom to surrender to the cops? It's a shame because YOU wouldn't have anywhere else to go.
— He slammed the staff down on the human before dispelling the energy from the other's hands.
— A MUTANT LIKE YOU WOULDN'T HAVE THE COURAGE TO ACCEPT THAT I WOULD ACCEPT YOU WITH YOUR HISTORY! Find any reason why you could grant THAT which I never learned to control? YOU HAVE NOTHING IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF THIS agreement.
— It 's wrong.
— He cut off the approach by throwing the fox against the wall, in a single step he stood up before getting into a defensive position.
— I won't deny that I kept taking Enestantina because I thought it would increase my powers, but you know what? Nothing is achieved for free… I decided that I would end it at the moment it would be used for others... others who do not have the same conscience as me.
— His pupils lost their saturated colors, they returned to the crimson tone as he approached the canine and he retreated until he grabbed him by the collar.
— So that's it? Thinking that a nice speech will prevent you from getting a worse job than before!
— He remained alert, despite his hands in the air, he didn't move his eyes far enough from the mutant's gaze until he was thrown to the ground like nothing.
Duck reconsidered the matter, his eyes remaining on the mirror as he fully revealed his condition. How long would he stop being an embarrassment? A piece of comedy? He would have nowhere else to go if he left things as they were... him as he was... Duck pressed his hands together as his eyes turned purple behind them, His fingers returned to the bottles locked in the box. He still needed to prove he was enough; he didn't want to let this end one of the few things he had… He would knock down the window, pull out the bottles as he went to drink right away. He would hold his chest as he walked past the back without them noticing… It was just a choice to make to avoid the opportunity to continue on the team.
— No. It won't.
— He would turn, lift his foot to one of the bottles on the floor, his eyebrows raised until he noticed the damage to the cabinet.
— I think your guest has SERIOUS problems with his dosage. And if you don't do anything, he could get very sick…
— Draven pushed the bottle with his foot, and soon noticed the red drops. Despite trying to touch the container on the floor, he took a deep breath, "No." The human regained consciousness when he noticed the thin stains, his eyes returned to Cain and were sure of what was coming, he swore softly before pulling the other by the collar.
— Really?
— He grumbled as he was dragged along with the human, then grabbed the other's arms as he came to rest near the ground. The fox remained alert, his fur standing on end as he panted.
— CALM DOWN! MAN! YOU CAN'T JUST ATTACK ME TO SOLVE THIS!
— This is not a matter of YOUR choice.
— Very mistaken…
— He cut off the approach by throwing the fox against the wall, in a single step he stood up before getting into a defensive position.
— I won't deny that I kept taking Enestantina because I thought it would increase my powers, but you know what? Nothing is achieved for free… I decided that I would end it at the moment it would be used for others... others who do not have the same conscience as me.
— His pupils lost their saturated colors, they returned to the crimson tone as he approached the canine and he retreated until he grabbed him by the collar.
— So that's it? Thinking that a nice speech will prevent you from getting a worse job than before!
— He remained alert, despite his hands in the air, he didn't take his eyes far enough from the mutant's gaze until he was thrown to the ground like nothing. He replied as he swung the briefcase in his other hand, he accelerated the movement of his wings as he flew over the center. Soon he returned to the fearful fox on his arm.
— You'll get a cure for the drug by hook or by crook.
…
— Did you find any sign of him?
— The heroine lowered her ears, without a clear sign, once again as everyone stared at her without much enthusiasm.
— I hope you haven't done anything wrong or are thinking about doing anything wrong.
— That's still Duck, there's no way he could have carried so much negativity over something. Well... he was pretty angry.
— The hero in red would let it slip, then follow suit in the next moment, scratch the back of his neck and lean against a bench.
— Or maybe he was… I had talked to Duck, he was very different compared to ours with Oriana.
— The canine rubbed the treat until his eyes returned to the group.
— What if that was the reason he went so far as to consume something to change his powers?"
— Oh…
— The human lowered her head, turned her back as she tried to comprehend all the events, and then sighed heavily before placing the binoculars on her chest.
— I think all of this was my responsibility, right?
— Of course not! Oriana.
— The hero in red approached, with slow steps, and turned back to face the group.
— Don't worry, this was all a lack of good communication, there's no reason to be jealous if... if there is communication, right?
— I think that's... right?
— She let the question drop, even if for a second it led to an improvement in her composure, the attempt at comfort.
The Loonactics looked at each other, they returned a friendly expression despite the circumstances of that moment, the group headed through the city to return the location of the jet. However, halfway through the journey, the guards formed up when they heard voices behind them, and they all turned towards a flashing streetlight until the light made smoke take on a shape. And then he dropped a fox on the ground—the one holding its head before pulling the suitcase. The Loonactics didn't understand the situation until someone had dropped the line.
— Cain Armour.
— Oriana felt a shiver run through her shoulders, her fists clenching as she held firm for defense amidst the fox's dry chuckles.
— Look at that...
— He looked the human up and down before adjusting his glasses.
— Apparently, it wasn't just about trying to change the fate of others, it was about judging the brat.
— Leave your comments for later! What are you doing here?
— The hero in yellow walked forward, pointing his sword at the fox. The fox took a few steps back before returning to the front, patted by the human behind.
— Look, I don't know how much longer your school will have... but he will urgently need to be mobilized before he goes straight to the hospital!
— The boy in black gestured, trying to calm down until he moved away a little as he gained the attention of the others.
— Let's try one more time... Me, Draven, hellhound , or whatever name you want to use now. As a consequence of this irresponsible person here...
— He pointed to the fox that was held by the collar.
— He convinced the bird to help him in exchange for Enestantia, this substance is not one of the easiest to make, as it is NOT one of the easiest to recover from after consuming many doses.
— Let me see if I understand…
— The coyote took a deep breath as he took in the information, holding back the urge to scream until he could respond seriously.
— Duck took on all the instability because of THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IS IT ONLY NOW THAT HE, IN ADDITION TO THE RISK OF DOING SOMETHING STUPID, CAN DIE?
—That's right.
— Cain assumed, but in one movement, Oriana grabbed him by the neck. He would argue until his eyes were dull.
—Hmm! So this is how Walter raised him?
—he looked her up and down until he was suffocated.
— How dare you! You took advantage of his vulnerability to KEEP him as a PIECE for yet another dirty scheme. AND YOU STILL HAVE THE AUDAENCE TO TALK ABOUT MY FATHER? YOU'RE DIRTY!!
— Oriana left him after being held by Draven, she stamped one of her feet as she decided to still keep her calm, snorting through her nose.
— "And it's good to have a way to solve all this!"
— Slam warned, snapping his fingers, the others surrounding him, as the canine opened the case.
— Okay? IT'S OVER! I won't be able to try to stabilize him after so many bottles he drank, it will be a bigger challenge if they try to break me completely because of something YOU caused.
— He wiped his lab coat until his ears flattened at the word he used…
— Hahaha… I could clearly be wrong, clearly, hahaha…
— Stop messing around and go get the cure, every minute counts.
— Draven snapped his fingers before turning his face, he returned the wave to the team as he stayed ahead of the fox's every step.
— Are you going to stay on guard, Oriana?
— I'll stay, I know a little about recognizing when someone is faking reactions.
— She would confirm, wave goodbye, and then return to the back, where she and the other human would watch the fox's movements, each step he took.
With the confirmation, the team of The heroes went further, leaving the humans alone with the white fox. He muttered softly as he pulled out his tools and notes to begin the new formula. Amidst the noises in the neighborhood, a light was found near the roof of the city center.
The figure followed the steps in sequence to the waiting place, his eyes followed in spirals as he met the citizens below, fists and teeth clenched and at the moment he found himself, in question, Oriana and Draven were downstairs talking about something. The bird revealed itself from the shadows and, just as he was about to shoot, he was hit by pink energy. As Duck scrubbed away the usual dirt, he quickly turned to notice each of the Loonatics in front of him and ignored their worried looks.
— Duck.
— The yellow hero was the first to lower his hand, the glow in his eyes appearing for a moment as he tried to get closer.
— We just have to talk, we know what's going on and we just have to help you.
— Do you want to help me? HA!
— The orange hero rolled up his sleeves, charging energy through his fingers as he focused on the next step that was handed to him.
— I thought that if I tried the last option, I would avoid losing the last place I belonged to… I already lost it anyway…
— His shoulders slumped as the power intensified in his fingers.
— You haven't lost anything. You can still fix things, if you tell us what you're going through, there's no way we can change the real you.
— Even after stopping to rub his eyes, the one in red tried to approach a little more slowly along with the others.
— Despite the situation… we're still here for you.
— The green hero confirmed this with his gesture, despite taking stiff steps.
However, Duck looked away to the young woman below, his body shivering as the feeling took over his consciousness, he reactivated his powers while laughing uncontrollably . For a second, as it turned, the bird precisely hit one of the lamps until the one in the yellow suit caught it. It was tossed aside while the duck got back to its feet and played with its beak before trying again.
— It's great! But first! I have to avoid it as much as possible; it's still a threat.
— The bird's teeth opened before reloading its hands.
— Unfortunately, we're going to have to try to solve this the hard way, apologize, friend.
— The yellow hero pulled out his sword, tried to throw a few, but unfortunately he changed location with the teleport, with his eyes changing color before he can attack his “opponent”.
The fight continued to the lower floors, Duck launched the acid bubbles with everything. The others dodged as much as possible, the effects that ranged from causing, breaking the bars, to also boiling the areas that were hit, but this still did not demotivate the team.
The bird circled around, shooting from one side to the other, the smoke rose and without realizing it used the teleport to come from behind and there went the bird in red. The pieces holding the building together were coming loose from the stairs, and the stairs began to fall to the ground. Before an accident, the coyote used its powers to ensure the weight fell until, through a deflection of the attack, the attempt was completely undone and the bars fell, knocking down the glass structure as well as the trash cans.
Duck followed each of the rabbits' steps, Lexi held the ears before forcing the psychic control which seemed to be taking effect until she heard a pop, was prevented from falling by Ace. He ends up releasing his colleague's consciousness and then shoots them both, the two struggling as they try to get out of his tail. Which forced Slam to come and take them both in a tornado. After dropping them off, he waved to Duck, two pairs of purple eyes against each other as he tried to get closer, he was thrown by the whirlpool, aos few the duck surrendered by the balcony until hitting the hand against the floor and then teleporting right in Tech and Rev's jump to contain him.
In the midst of the confusion, the fox spat a lid from its mouth while collecting the container with a cork, giving it to the humans, the mutants waved before taking flight and took the opportunity to carry the canine right behind by the tail. They were soon noticed by the fact, which was soon going to attack their faces, they got out of the way in time.
The fox was left in a dumpster while the mutants set off on the cross trail, the bird's feet beat in stress until its eyes lit up with a brighter light and it went head on in Draven's path until it was pushed by the other bird that was falling freely to the ground. Draven followed behind her, without realizing the container in his pocket slipped from his hands and forced him to try to retrieve it.
Oriana's screams were cut off as she was picked up by Lexi, her face slightly returning to its normal color as she waved to her before returning to her feet on the ground, Oriana tried to move her wings until she felt a snap in her movements. The black-feathered bird approached, but before she could strike again, an intense fight broke out with bird, he got a pipe which he crossed one after the another with the blade until the sword was thrown to the ground. As the confrontation continued through the buildings, I could see civilians moving in the distance as some objects fell from the top of buildings, that was for some, not for the rest.
Respect is the least I can do... but in the end I will succeed, I WILL BE THE GREATEST AND BEST SECURITY GUARD THAT HAS EVER EXISTED in the wor…
Everyone moved around trying to call out, Tech and Rev remained in the midst of sobbing, stirring him while Lexi begged softly as the sobs came. It couldn't end this way, it couldn't end like this, they would have to try.
— Try the vial!
— Draven reached the ground as the container was ripped from his hands.
The coyote opened the container while trying to make the bird swallow, his heart tightening as the body was still unconscious. The purple light followed through the veins, her breathing slowed until Oriana opened her eyes once more and took a deep breath, stepping into the team's small space while holding the empty container. Then, with his hands on his chest, his eyes immediately lit up white.
— What are you going to do? REALLY THINK you're going to be able to heal all this damage? HIS DEATH IS CERTAIN!
— The fox spat the plastic between its teeth as it approached and removed the dirt from the suit.
— I don't think so... I just want to try, even if I don't know.
— The human replied softly, closing her eyelids as a bright light passed from her fingers to the bird's chest.
The light passed over the body of gray feathers, filling it with light until it slowly faded. The feathers returned to their black hue, but it wasn't enough. The veins still had a purple hue, the marks followed every feature of the fading face, a sign that brought them back to reality was that the heartbeat had increased in some parts.
— Let's take him to the hospital, they'll be able to stabilize him properly there…
— Oriana slowly rose, her wings moving slowly beside her feet until a hand was offered to support her.
— We'll take him, of course...but first...
— The canine turned to the three furthest away.
—Ace, Lexi, and Slam Ace, I think we need to take care of a certain matter.
Everyone turned their attention directly to the fox who was noticing the looks, which trembled as some ugly looks were given, he accelerated his feet to escape until he was knocked down by one of the red bird's blows.
— It's over for you, old man! Go to jail…
— He puffed up his pride at the sound of the horn, but then quickly turned his head before pulling him by the shirt towards the team.
…
“The memories came back to Duck.”
…
Many people moved from one point to another, the small groups were busy with their own concerns, in their minds there would be no reason to pause for a moment to get around them. In the middle of the crowd, an orange silhouette walked from one side to the other in a hurry until it reached the elevator.
The moment he went outside, he ended up hitting the ceiling and the boxes falling, he spent a few seconds stuck to the ceiling and then he was thrown on top of the packages he was carrying the moment before.
— Oh my goodness…there!
— the bird would hold its head, take advantage of the fact that it was already on the ground and gather the packages once again into a pile, then push the base back to its stopping point.
The young duck spent a little time pressing the packages, paused as he approached the apartments, and pulled out the note with the delivery information. Just as he was about to knock on the door, he turned to the right side of the page. He slapped himself in the face and returned to the elevator on the lowest floor, he had also missed the point of slamming it, apparently.
— Are you kidding? HOW was I supposed to realize I got the address wrong?
— the duck complained, then turned his cap backwards while pressing one of the buttons, his eyelid trembling in tics while this time he managed to get down the elevator standing up.
And there he returned, putting the packages back in the van, and after insisting for a while, he remained firm. He marched into the driver 's cab and was soon off down the road, his mirrors gleaming and his wheels keeping up a noisy rhythm. A little while ago, the day slowly turned from its baby blue hue to a more reserved and saturated tone, the delivery man rubbed the sweat from his head until he stopped when he noticed a little child jumping next to a little animal.
Duck rolled his eyes, without much indifference and his foot braked without difficulty, the little boy waved as he got up from the floor with the kitten, which in reality had made the driver stop once more and his eyes widened at the arrival of a pickup truck. When a driver suddenly braked, the truck ended up knocking over some of the objects and almost taking civilians with it, the alert sounded for the bird.
— Oh no…
— The bird turned its eyes back to the child, he wasn't in much danger until he joined the others his age, but when he looked back at the vehicle, his face was white with the wheels exploding on the road.
Duck was breathing rapidly in contrast to his frozen body, his feet were not moving, his eyes were silent, his heart was stopping until he heard the screams of the children's mothers. He loosened his hands on the steering wheel, the next step the truck turned… It opened up next to the boys and carried the three of them in its arms and reopened another gap behind the driver's cabin before disappearing. The vehicle crashed into a tree, getting stuck in the trunk while the fire started from the sparks.
— At least no one got too hurt, right?
— He tried to check their safety even though he was weak until the weight of the elderly and children was greater than him, in comic effect he took the shape of a pancake until he dragged it out once more, he got ready for the bike.
— Look, the boxes aren't even that crush…
His feathers ruffled the minute a flame fell on the packages, his eyes froze the moment both the boxes and the vehicle ended up turning to dust. The civilians hissed over their mouths, with the trucker patting the bird on the shoulder as it fell to its knees on the ground.
— The boss won't get that pissed off over some floats...right?
— he asked, his breath catching in his throat, the little smile that was slowly fading away, completely erased.
— HOW DID YOU LOSE OVER 200 materials?
— The little man, aka THE BOSS, slammed his hands on the counter as he noticed only dust on the bird's hands.
— I... lost my floats in the accident, a truck caught fire...
" He covered his mouth with his hands as he was pulled by the collar, the sportsman's whistle being used right in his ears in the process.
— Of course! Because you simply can't even keep packages at the right address. I've already received three calls from Miss Morello AND YOU'RE 7 HOURS late!
— The human face remained red, gradually the color returned to its hue, but it did not indicate a good future as smoke came out of his nose.
— But… bu…
— YOU'RE FIRED… And forbidden from returning to that pool!
— The human would rip off the hat as to the other's whistle, using the object to whistle in his ears before throwing it over the fence, not caring if it fell into the trash can, he just closed the window.
— That… that's not fair! It's not because I asked, that's more…
— His brows and chest loosened at the realization.
— Say I... I... failed miserably? All this while using the boss's favorite chair?
— The duck walked away from the building.
— Quack.
The bird, faced with the ashes from the buoys on his fingers, quickly rubbed his hands together as he walked in fear. For a moment along the way, he encountered the children, the boys waved as they appeared to be dressed as superheroes and a duck mask, a genuine smile came out of him until he left with his hands in his pockets. He would stop when he bumped into someone in the elevator, he would stop on the floor and immediately hold the back of his neck.
— Oh! Calm down, my son! I'm not transparent to…
— The boy stopped for a moment when he noticed a human figure, a woman with emerald eyes and long blonde hair. She cleaned herself up as he continued to stare at her, she stood her ground, but he shrugged until he stood up.
— Oh, My bad.
— He looked away.
— Really, I'm sorry. Ma'am, it's just…
— Hehehe… Don't worry, duckling. I think you've had a long day after your deed ended up getting backlash.
— Her tone was a bit harsh, despite her light words.
— Hey, I really liked seeing the kids back home. You know? Not everyone gets the chance to find a place to rest after a bad day.
— Admitted, scratching his arm while fixing his hair.
— Could I know your name??
— Ah, Duck?
— He raised an eyebrow until he stopped to think
— If it's not too much trouble, are you looking for an employer? It's not that I need one, I'm just curious. It's... and I don't know how I could refer to you without…
— You call me… Zadavia, Duck.
— She gave a pleasant tone to her expression, even with the aura rising over her shoulders. He relaxed for a moment as she returned the well-hidden smile.
— And mentioning that... I needed one more support person on a team I'm forming, É A little heavy, but I think for Danger Duck it should be a little more interesting than usual. Would you be interested?
— Ohm..
— He blinked again a few times, his pupils guided him from her face to her hands and then he returned the handshake after a silly laugh.
— Danger Duck is active!
— the boy jumped up and down, then received a pat on the shoulder until she let him accompany her to the next floor, they both went down the elevator, but her noisy childish aura could have brought out anything from an expression of indifference to a giggle from the girl.
…
“It was part of a time that seemed to have no error.”
…
The memories in the consciousness of the orange figure, the bird was lying on the bed while watching the dusty ceiling, for a moment it held its ears, the measure everything seemed so high…Duck then woke up, reality was visible once again. The bird held its hands over its eyes as it tried to remember what had happened previously, his arms fell back and he complained softly at the intensity of the lighting. The scene was changed from the shouting in front of the previously abandoned building to the presence of the vehicles and their officers on duty.
— DAMN BRATS! AND EVEN AFTER EVERYTHING?
— The fox struggled as the officers led him to the patrol car. He barely managed to push one of them away and pointed his finger at the yellow rabbit and the young woman.
— I should have taken care of one, BUT you had to finish the job, didn't you? ORIANA! It had to be you to finish everything I SHAPED
— Don't talk to her like that...
— The yellow hero stopped the moment he noticed the other's gesture, then turned back as he walked towards the canine.
— Miss Ov’e Nadezhda, for you.
— The young woman approached the fox, her fur slightly ruffled as the human kept her mood closed and most of her face still as she snapped her fingers.
— You just got back EVERYTHING you did for the American city, don't you dare blame others for your own ignorance. It is a failed theory for a GREAT SCIENTIST to fail to recognize the details he proposed in his research. Maybe you really haven't done anything great, now, if you'll excuse me, we have someone to visit and you better BEHAVE YOURSELF if you don't want to know the reason that made me come after this work
— Her eyes glowed slightly gold before fading, however, her pupils remained the previous shade of gold until she snorted air through her nose.
— Ah-ah-a!
— The fox lowered its ears, returned to the vehicle, this time, it remained cowering and its eyes turned and then closed in terror at the human's growl.
— I'd even make a joke, but apparently that's not the most appropriate.
— He choked off his own laughter as he walked away handcuffed.
hellhound , or, now, Draven Drummond, lowered his head as he walked with an officer behind him. They stopped until someone, the girl, tapped the boy on the shoulder, getting his attention.
— Hey… if you really want to say a few words, to help me start over, you can invite me over for a visit.
— She looked away, for a moment her expression was filled with excitement as she doubted the other's answer.
— Are you serious? Duckling.
— Soon, shaking his head as he noticed her wide smile, that wasn't expected after all, the little smile was proof that he would be carried away by the next answer... maybe a, yes, it will…
— I'll tell you…
— She nodded, walking up the stairs beside the rabbit.
—See you someday, don't mess up again! Or I'll hit you!
— A second rematch would be fun, come on…
— He turned his attention forward as he was pushed.
As soon as the last criminal was placed in the car, the police left as the group watched, the sky soon darkening as they headed into the hospital. They went on a long walk until they finally finished, opening the door and lying on the bed, there was the duck, Her feathers had brightened and her veins were back to normal, at least. Oriana sat on a bench, with the others entering and closing the door behind her.
For a moment, he realized the group, “the best friends” in times past he would say again sometime, however, his face fell down and a raw silence, his fingers pressed into the blanket as he waited for the worst to finally, until he stopped with a movement over his head.
— Is everything okay for now? Danger Duck.
— The one in pink clothes approached the little table, in the vase next to the gifts she carefully placed the flowers, then walked over to the patient.
—I…I-I am fine…
— the duck sighed, keeping his hands on his face as the tears could no longer remain still, his feathers stood on end as the sobs reached his clothes.
— It's all my fault...it's all because of another part of my ignorance, once again I let my ego take precedence over my heroic motivations, how could I have ever joined you? You guys are too good...you don't deserve me, not even a little bit. I hurt each of you...for nothing, NOTHING.
A silence accompanied the group, for long, long, LONG minutes until the canine withdrew from his corner, sat next to his colleague and held his shoulder so that attention could be given to him.
— Are you aware of everything you did?
— the canine lowered its ears as the bird struggled to respond, for a moment, it looked away from him until it looked into his eyes, in partiality, the ears raised.
— Overloaded…
— he whispered, holding his own shoulders as he kept his chest rising rhythmlessly for a little while.
— I really would never have used the words I used if I had known that at some point I would have the cowardice to use them.
— Hmhm…
— The canine wiggled one of his ears as he listened to him.
— I'm not just saying it for the sake of saying it.
— He closed his eyes before forcing his head up.
— Tech, you're the most centralized person I know. Just because you don't use it the same way as other people doesn't make you insensitive. And to Rev... I truly apologize, Man. I didn't think I would spout so much nonsense just because of a genuine suggestion you made to me…
— He finally found the yellow rabbit, his eyes looked away for a second before saying something.
— Ultimately, there are clear reasons why you're the leader, Ace. You've held the group together for so long, you're the one who was responsible for everything... obviously you would never say anything wrong out of concern for bringing down the other members... that's so admirable.
— Did you feel left out by us?
— Speaking clearly, Slam gave one of those looks until the bird on the bed nodded.
— Hmhm.
— He admitted, keeping his eyes forward despite the raindrops.
— I really should have realized that... she was the best thing ever, She's exactly what Lexi would want in a female companion. She's as educated as the boys and would easily win them over with her good humor and firm hand. And not to mention her high skill.
— The boy would stop for a moment and, upon noticing the objects on the counter, he would rub his eyes a little to avoid hurting them again by crying.
— Man… she flies more than any hawk that plucked my feathers on that trip to the island! It wasn't even impossible that the lost captain would think she'd be the best little duck anyone could ever want. Until the Draven got attached to that golden girl.
There was a moment of coughing, dry coughing, the bird raising its eyebrow for a moment as it noticed how everyone's expressions looked... confused? What was this…
This means the bird was shaking its head until he looked closely at the counter, he could see that the flowers were bright and colorful in Lexi's feminine style. The cookies, although some were eaten, all had the boys' identification on them.
— Wait. You really DIDN'T notice?
— He scratched the back of his neck, and then the next thing everyone knew, everyone looked at each other.
— Do you realize… what?
— He was lost in thought…
— Duck! She's a loyal fan of yours.
— The hero in red responded to everyone.
— QUACK?
— He questioned himself more than any of the others, he turned in bed for a moment as the brightness of his eyes filled, they assumed the composure of a duckling he blinked a few times as he tried to process everything.
— Boy. Let's just remember a little, almost every two times we went to her house, she was teaching us Pistachio COOKIES, the same ones you mention almost every time we go to the grandma's house that you've loved since you were a CHILD. And if you notice, she has countless headlines of ours, but she mainly keeps yours and she even made this little doll of you.
— The junior? She did... the junior? I thought it was…
— The boy sniffed for a moment when he noticed the little doll next to him, he picked it up carefully while pressing the button. “I love you!” he pressed again. “Danger Duck is in action!” he turned back a little as he hugged.
— And… is it okay if I come for a little visit?
— The golden girl waved, she let go of the doorknob as she marked her entrance, then rubbed her face after noticing the stares.
— Quack…Quack…Quack.
— He sniffed as he nodded.
— We can even try to be known again.
— scratched his neck before turning his eyes back to the duck.
— I know it's not the easiest thing after you thought you were being ignored... but I'm willing to start over with any of my new friends — OH! I called more than one of the Loonactics friends!
— She held back the tears, took a deep breath, shook her hands over her face as her makeup came off…
Duck opened his arms, in the same way, tears fell on him, with the two crying hugging each other, with his colleagues giving a genuine smile and joining in the affectionate hug.
— I swear this will never happen again. I'll be a better man! I promise…
— He rubbed his face, the dark circles under his eyes becoming more pronounced from the water.
— I know that, Duck. You're always honest... even though you can be a bit emotional sometimes, a bit too much, but you're not a liar enough.
— Someone joined the group after the knock on the door, a figure in white with blonde highlights was shown in the distance, waving as she walked towards the bird.
— Ah! Zadavia!
— The group looked at each other, some lowered their ears while Oriana remained completely immobilized. The orange bird tapped the human's head a few times until the Tasmanian devil manager noticed as they pushed the frozen human out.
— Hello, Loonactics. I needed to visit my team after the previous events. Can I have a quick word with the ducky?
— Ahm…
— The duckling took a deep breath, he would take charge, he would take responsibility.
— All right, boss.
— We'll talk later!
— The one in the yellow suit waved as he followed his teammates, the door blowing in the wind, the team gathering to listen to the conversation, they pushed a few times until there was some noise to be heard, they whispered silence until they got some opening.
— I think it's time to retire my identity, don't you?
— He held his arm in fear, his feathers remained ruffled as he tried to look into her eyes until he returned to the ground with his eyes closed to any discussion…
— No. I wouldn't send away one of my heroes.
— Ahm?
— He didn't believe it.
— Like this?
— He would get up from the bed, for a moment he would sit back down with a wrong movement that led to chest pain, and he would mumble.
— I made a lot of mistakes, boss. Yeah, this time it wasn't one of the easiest... I... I almost killed all my friends and an innocent woman for... for…
— By the intensifying effect of his grief and by the substance?
—The alien confirmed as she perceived the other's silence.
— I know the story, Duck, I know it from both sides. I know you're not one of the toughest members mentally. You often let your emotions get the better of you…
— Why wouldn't you remove my name from the team? You know… you know what I did…
— For the same reason that I had already chosen each member of the team, I consider each of them to be their strongest points.
— Oh, my duty is to be SUPER ignorant…
— He swallowed his words as he noticed the interruption.
—Please? Continue…
— Despite the countless situations, I always realized that one of his greatest strengths was precisely his persistence, even when everything was against his habits, against your colleagues or in victory, you never gave up on what was right at any moment… even with the trends, have you never at any time considered allying yourself with a villain?
— she looked at him with a neutral gaze, her hands resting on her lap until she stood up and held the boy's shoulder, making him pay even more attention to her.
— Despite all the trouble, some slip-ups, and, most importantly, after finally hearing the reality of my fear, I would have thought twice before falling for Cain's lies… I… I just didn't want to lose the only thing I still have, I never had anything to be reluctant about.
— The duck held the stuffed animal, stopping to analyze the stitching, the marks of each detail of the clothing until he noticed a signature with his name.
— But I still have to try to fix things, don't I? I can't let the circumstances that bind me to mistakes remain silent; I have to raise my hopes to do... the right thing.
— Sure, Duck.
— Even though it was rare, she still had a little smile on her face.
— But… is it punishment? Or is it extra work for a naughty chick?
— The bird raised an eyebrow as she walked away.
— For now… you are only exempt from activities until you recover and have time to reflect, only on the condition that you promise to change your attitudes from that day onwards.
— I…
— He shrugged, his eyes reflecting an orange light as he stared straight at the figure.
— I promise!…
— He added in a broken voice,
— Boss.
Zadavia's laughter was left weaker as the team fell straight to the floor as they forced the door open. The stars circled above their heads until they chuckled in embarrassment, which led the duck to stare at the plus in his arms and was soon gathered by the team. He sighed as he left space for the hug they gave from behind, for a moment he let his eyes close in peace, he was back, and he should be better from then on... for him. The departure of an angel and a demon from their days was certain.
THE END
