The Day I Became An Artist (Kinda')

Summary:

Recently, many authors have posted their own art dumps. I decided to swim along with the current. Why not? I shall post the artworks for my fics here.

Chapter 1: Artwork For FeltBaru fic

This was my first artwork which I had made last week for my FeltBaru fic.

I spent the last six hours drawing this. My head hurts, my wrist and fingers are sore. I wanna sleep—!

Summary: Subaru's always wanted to get isekai'd, obtain overpowered skills and become a hero; which is why, he didn’t expect to wake up as a blonde girl in a Mr. Too Handsome's arms.

It turns out that Subaru is some Royal Candidate for the throne and has to compete against four other ladies. Alright, she can deal with all this. Sounds fun, even if being in the wrong body is a bummer...

What Subaru never even imagined was how complicated and dark this world was. MaBeasts, Witches, Psycho Cultists, World Ending Monsters, War, Traitors, Calamities...

At least Reinhard is with her. She'll be fine.

...right?

This is something I drew on my phone, in 6 hours, and considering this is my first time drawing something like this, I'm quite satisfied. But damn, my fingers are sore, wrist hurts and my eyes are heavy.

 

Drawing Reinhard was ridiculously easy but FeltBaru was something else. I wasn't sure what pose I should do but then I thought of making some dramatic gesture like Subaru— quirky. After a lot of work, here we are. In the background, we can see Reinhard far away.

 

As you can see, FeltBaru looks almost exactly like Felt but her theme is different— orange, white and black themed.

 

This is a story, though. From next chapter onwards, we will get to read the story. This chapter is simply a sneak-peek. The theme is just like Re:Zero itself, there's a bit of everything.

Chapter 2: Artworks For JinchurikiBaru fic

Notes:

Summary of the story: Four hundred years ago, a Witch of unfathomable power appeared, devouring half of the earth, destroying everything in her wake.

Three heroes challenged her in a a battle so fierce that it reshaped the world; finally sealing her away, saving the world.

At present, a boy with nasty eyes wakes up with no memories of past, only a name. He knows nothing about what happened to him and where he is from.

Nobody knows him.

Except the voice in his head that whispers, "I love you..."

Or, Satella is sealed inside Subaru and he has to deal with the chaos of this world while suppressing the Witch of Envy trying to take over him.

This is an epic tale, unlike my other Re:Zero stories. Hope you will like it.

As you can see, I kinda' messed up the coloring and the eyes look weird. It's my fault.

To sharpen my non-existent skills, I challanged myself to draw something much more difficult. So spending hours trying...I made this:

It's faaar from perfect. What do you think? Oh, and the tiny figure in the head? That's Subaru—!

  • Why not golden like Eternal? 

Well, in my story, gold is not the theme for Subaru or Satella. It's purple/Amethyst, my favourite color. Hope Eternal wouldn’t mind. 😝

  • Same plot? 

The only thing same is "Satella is sealed inside Subaru". Nothing else is the same. In fact, it's going to be my biggest Re:Zero project yet.

  • Did I draw all these?

Shockingly, yes. I did. A bit of motivation, some references and a lot of patience is all you need. The most difficult part was drawing Satella's avatar. Took me twelve hours of non-stop trials, I finally did it.

I couldn’t draw Subaru's face. At all. It looked too much like Okabe for some reason. So I decided to trace and practice directly from the anime. After two days of relentless efforts, I had finally managed to draw his face properly.

This is my 2nd favourite here! Took me the shortest amount of time to draw this.

Definitely the trickiest to draw. But worth it.

Chapter 3: Magical Girl Subaru Art? New fanfiction?

Summary:

I decided to draw something... Magical. So here we are.

Notes:

This version of Subaru is the result of Satella trying to help Subaru in the new world and Subaru's inferiority complex— both collided and thus CrescentBaru was created.

She is an alter ego of him. He transforms unintentionally and remembers nothing afterwards. She has a twisted sense of justice and is a sadist.

She is agile, fast, has great endurance, has a huge scythe and likes to stab people. She is a battle maniac and a psycho. Has a certain authority too.

And yes, I drew her inspired from Ruby Rose from RWBY.

The fanfiction will come out after the PanBaru fic is complete.

Subaru the Sadist

Notes:

Drawing her was... Almost Impossible. I spent three days trying to get a rough picture but failed. On my fourth day, I finally cracked it and here we are on the fifth day.

Wearing skirts is easy. Drawing skirts is not. I'm traumatised.

Coloring is extremely difficult. I love the bucket tool!

Shadows are viewed poetic, but they are not! They are evil! Uggggh—! My head trembles!

Drawing her hands was very tough. Especially fingers. Her other hand was too difficult since I never drew from the side view.

Drawing Satella was easy since it isn't detailed that much.

There's two pictures. Which one do you like? The one in light or the one in night?

The air in the long, sterile hallway grew thick, as if someone had just dropped a G-rank monster right into the middle of a high school festival.

Subaru's "Tail—!" protest got stuck in her throat, a choked sound as an incredible, almost suffocating pressure slammed into her. It wasn't the kind of pressure you feel when the teacher calls on you and you haven't done your homework; this was the kind that makes you question your very existence. It felt like staring into the abyss, but the abyss was staring back, not with cold, empty eyes, but with a vibrant, pulsating light.

Wait, was it glowing orange? It seemed to flicker, a fiery ember in the dim light. No, a second glance showed it was a deep, shimmering gold. Then, it shifted again, back to orange. The eyes, framed by shadows that looked like she hadn't slept in a week, were a glorious, impossible mix of both.

"Gorange," Subaru whispered to herself, the word tasting weird on her tongue. "Totally, definitely, absolutely... Gorange."

A sneering, contemptuous sigh echoed down the hall. "Ugh, this is so stupid. All I did was just... you know, slick off his di—" The girl stopped mid-sentence, her mouth twisting into a tight frown.

Her glowing gorange eyes narrowed to a menacing squint. "You..." she hissed, her voice low and dangerous. "How dare you wear my face. It disgusts me." She punctuated her disgust by pointing a perfectly manicured, gloved finger at Subaru, who was still trying to figure out what "gorange" meant. "As punishment, I'll skin you and sell your hide to a shady leather merchant in the slums of Arc 1!"

But Subaru was too busy for threats. She was conducting a detailed, up-close inspection of the newcomer. She looked... exactly like her. The same long black hair, the same pale skin, the same lanky, sort of-but-not-really-athletic build. But the eyes were all wrong. And the dark circles. But most importantly...

...a sudden, painful, but very clear observation had to be made. "Whoa," Subaru thought, her brain processing the data at a thousand frames per second. "She's... more blessed in the chest department."

The thought was barely finished when the new girl's knee shot up, connecting squarely with Subaru's gut. The air whooshed out of her lungs in a pathetic gasp, a sound that probably wouldn't even be heard by a mic on a shounen anime. "W-what the hell?!" Subaru wheezed, doubling over.

The girl stood over her, a smug, superior look on her face. "You pathetic mockery of me, the honored one? I feel... utterly and completely disgusted." Her chin was tilted just so, the gorange eyes boring down. "Who are you? Is this McPhoenix finally making another pathetic copy of me? Pathetic!"

Subaru straightened up, rubbing her stomach. "You... you don't know me?" Her own eyes, which had seen more pain and death than a hundred lifetimes, narrowed. "Did you literally live under a rock or something? Like, were you sealed away in some ancient tomb and just woke up?"

The girl scoffed, tilting her head as if considering a particularly ridiculous idea. "What, you're supposed to be some kind of celebrity? The star of some no-name show?" A grin, sharp and predatory, spread across her face. "I am the Vanguard of Justice! The one and only Magical Girl Crescent! And who, might I ask, are you, you little impostor?"

Subaru puffed out her chest, recovering her usual brash confidence. "I'm Natsuki Subaru! Made by the one and only Cardinal, loved by all, a hero to the masses!" She extended a hand for a handshake, as if they were just two long-lost twins meeting for the first time at a family reunion.

Crescent gave the hand a deadpan look, as if it were a piece of trash she had just found on the floor. "Do I look like I care?"

"You should!" Subaru shot back, retracting her hand. "I'm more popular than you are. In fact—" she leaned in conspiratorially, lowering her voice, "—I have a cult of my own. Well, 'cult' is a strong word. 'Extremely devoted fanbase with a few questionable rituals' is more accurate. But, uh, not that I approve of their... more questionable activities."

A loud, almost theatrical laugh erupted from Crescent. It was a beautiful sound, but filled with a cold, mocking edge. "A cult leader? I have slaughtered more cult leaders than you've had hot meals! I'm from Arc 9, by the way. And killing you... would be nothing new to me. It's Tuesday."

"Ho?" Subaru's eyes lit up with a familiar spark of challenge. "You think you can kill me? Little Miss Vanguard of Justice?"

Crescent's smile didn't falter. "I can solo your entire verse. The whole thing. Even Reinhard. Probably."

At that, a new voice, impossibly smug and confident, entered the conversation. "Pfft. You cannot defeat me?" Tail Black said, her voice a low purr.

Crescent's gorange eyes flickered toward the source of the voice, a smirk playing on her lips. "Pray tell, why?"

"Because..." Subaru said, drawing the word out, savoring the moment, letting the tension build like a climax in a shounen anime.

"Because...?" Crescent prompted, her scythe shimmering into existence in her hand, a scythe made of pure, raw magical energy.

"Because..." Subaru finished, throwing her hands out wide in a grand, theatrical gesture. "...plot demands my victory!"

Crescent's shoulders slumped, and she let out a long, weary sigh. "Enough talk," she said, her voice completely drained of its earlier menace. She raised her scythe, the sharp blade pointed directly at Subaru's head. "Say hello to my little friend whom I have killed. And then... say hello to him."

"Who—?!" Subaru's eyes widened, but it was too late. Crescent brought the scythe down in a vicious arc, a whirlwind of gorange energy.

—which harmlessly passed through her. The blade sliced through the air where Subaru's head had been just a moment before, leaving behind a lingering scent of ozone and disappointment.

Crescent blinked, her expression a mix of confusion and pure frustration. She tapped the handle of her scythe. "Is this thing malfunctioning? Did I forget to turn it on?"

Subaru, who had been completely unphased, just shrugged. "Happens all the time," she said, pulling out a small, unassuming bracelet on her wrist. A faint green light emanated from it, an ancient magical ward that made her completely intangible.

Crescent tch'd, her eyes glowing with gorange light. "Fine. I don't need a weapon to erase you. My fists can do the job just fine." Before she could unleash a torrent of magical power, a jarring, electronic beep-beep-beep rang out. Crescent's face contorted in a mix of irritation and bewilderment, and she pulled out a cheap, generic-looking flip-phone.

"Who is it? Ooh, do you have a boyfriend?" TwinTailBaru asked, leaning over Crescent's shoulder with an uncomfortably close level of curiosity.

Crescent just ignored her, putting the phone to her ear. She listened for a moment, her scowl deepening. "Now where's this freaking stylist?!" she groaned, hanging up the phone with a loud snap. "They said 'ASAP', and I am a Magical Girl with a schedule!"

"Hair stylist?" TwinTailBaru blinked, her head tilting to the side. "Wait a minute..."

"Apparently some freak was supposed to give me a new hairstyle," Crescent grumbled, a grim, humorless grin on her face. "And here I thought I could have some fun with him. Maybe turn him into a grotesque piece of modern art."

"Wait, by 'fun' you mean—"

"None of your business."

"Well it is!"

"What?" Crescent finally snapped, her voice rising to a shriek.

"I'm the hair stylist!"

Crescent stared at her for a long, quiet moment, her jaw hanging open. "You gotta be kidding me."

"Nope!" TwinTailBaru said cheerfully. "Come on, sis. You may have a bigger chest than me, but flat is the actual Justice. And besides, I have a new style just for you. It's called the Magical Girl Twin-Tail of Ultimate Justice! Ta-da!"

"Pfft, as if—gah! Stop it you as—how come I can't move—ugh—no—SATELAAAAAAA!" Crescent screamed, her body suddenly paralyzed as a green glow enveloped her.

"There! All done!" TwinTailBaru said a moment later, a triumphant smile on her face.

Crescent looked at her reflection, her hair tied up into two ridiculous, utterly humiliating twin-tails. "I... I'm going to find a way to kill you that even a thousand different timelines can't save you from. I... I freaking hate you."
"Smile!" TwinTailBaru chirped, holding up her flip-phone. "Say cheese!"

Crescent, her arms crossed over her chest, simply glared at the camera. "Just die."

Surprise?

"We need to give the sauce too," TwinTailBaru said.

30% of the time I try to browse AO3, this message is displayed.

Due to this:

I had 12 drafts of the same chapter, I had to delete them one by one.
My stories' chapters are uploaded promptly even though I don't intend to, which annoys people.
Stories get refreshed.
Yesterday, my new FrierenXNaruto crossover had been posted twice.

Is there any solution? I'm not very good with tech stuff. Does this happen to you, too?

Chapter 9: FemBaru or MuteBaru

Summary:

FemBaru or MuteBaru is a version of Subaru I have a draft in my Google Docs. I will publish it soon.

She lost her parents in an accident and trauma took her voice away.

She grew up alone and was a star student in the school. Despite being mute, she was 'loved' by all and she always lend people her hand.

...even if they took advantage of her.

...or talked ill behind her back and mocked her.

Despite this, she kept a smile plastered on her face and was always there for help.

However, in truth, she was highly depressed with her life and cried alone.

Thus, she decided to end her life, jumping from her apartment building, she thought this is it...

...until strong arms wrapped around her and a man with aristocratic features asked in a worried tone:

"Miss, are you alright?"

She would have screamed if she could.

I challenged myself to draw something in an hour. I decided to draw this, FemBaru.

She is a girl from birth, not gender bender stuff.

It took me almost one and half an hour to draw this. What do you think? Looks not much like Subaru, tbh. Obviously it's not perfect, still, your thoughts?

Chapter 11: Stickers For Discord Server.

Summary:

CrescentBaru stickers for my Discord Server.

Notes:

I spent a lot of time drawing these stickers. Sorry for the bad quality. I wanted to remove the background which resulted in lowering the image quality.

Drawing eyes is easy but keeping all of them parallel is tough.

The fourth one...her teeth looks a bit off, I think I tried too hard...

During this project, I discovered that Ibis let's you copy drawings and paste them. With this feature, I drew CrescentBaru's body only once and applied it to all. Same goes to other aspects.

You may notice the lack of the underskirt, well even I realised it too late that I had forgotten to draw it. Well, I was too exhausted to draw anymore. So assume that it's being covered by the upper layer and it would be visible when wind blows(ridiculous...)

Also, the first one looks a bit emotionless. I messed up the lips and eyes. I tried various lines but failed... I tried for like an hour before I gave up.

By the way, the last one is my favourite.

Note that I was inspired to draw these after seeing what Eternal had drawn for Cardinal.

Okay, so I've been writing for like almost 2 years, stashing up story after story and only two have ended. I have like 3.3M words worth of projects in my Google Docs, published or not.

...I'm definitely not self-glazing.

I'm simply sharing the ones you have seen or will see soon.
