A Spot of a Different Color

Summary:

Spot Splatter Splash, Bea Spells-a-Lot, and Jewel Sparkles discover jars of paint at the field, and paint themselves to feel the joy of looking different. (#ULFW24)

Notes:

Inspired by the Peep and the Big Wide World episode, A Peep of a Different Color, which released four days before my 4th birthday. This was a fun one to put together, and looks like the Lalaloopsies sure had fun with their paint! Even Jewel too, even though all that paint mixed to create a brown color she didn't like that much, but at least it cleaned off with water!

Enjoy this fun little Lalaloopsy adventure I put together about paint and color mixing!

Work Text:

Spot Splatter Splash and Bea Spells-a-Lot were looking through the dump to find things. "A dump is a great place to find things. A bottle, a tire, a bouncing weasel, or even a plain old ball," I narrated as Spot and Bea found the respective things I said. "Yellow! One of my favorite colors!" Spot said as she noticed the yellow ball. Spot kicked the ball, and it hit the washing machine, then it hit the tree, then hit Spot, knocking her down. "Oof!" Spot said as she got knocked down by the ball. "Oh, Spot, let me show you. You have to kick it just right," Bea told Spot, as Spot nodded. Bea kicked the ball, and it hit the washing machine, then the tree, then knocked Bea down this time. "Ow!" Bea said as the ball knocked her down.

The yellow ball bounced through a giant pipe then landed in a jar of red paint, turning it red. "Hey, it turned red! How did it do that?" Spot asked, as she and Bea approached. "Hmm, let's try something else!" Bea said. Bea went and grabbed a brown stick, then headed back to the jar of paint. "Now it's brown," Bea said as she dipped the brown stick into red paint. "And now it's red!" Bea said. "Oh!" Spot said, seeing it now. Spot went to get a green leaf, dipped it in the paint, and it turned red. "Everything Spot and Bea put in the paint came out bright red," I narrated, as Bea got a white flower, dipped that in the paint, and it turned red. "Including Spot," I narrated, as Spot jumped in the jar of paint, turning herself red all over. "Spot, what are you doing?" Bea asked. "Hey, you're all red!" Bea said as Spot popped out of the paint. "Yeah, I know! Let's go show Jewel!" Spot said.

Jewel Sparkles was shown near a pond, drying herself up. "Hello, Bea! Hello... completely red Lalaloopsy I haven't met before!" Jewel said. "No, Jewel, it's me! Spot!" Spot said. "Huh? You can't fool me! Spot has golden yellow hair and isn't all one color!" Jewel said. "Spot was all different colors, now she's completely red," Bea said. "No, I don't believe it! I won't believe it, not until I hear it from Spot herself!" Jewel said as she turned around. "Jewel, it's me! I'm red!" Spot told Jewel. "No, I wanna hear it from the real Spot, not some red imposter!" Jewel said as she closed her eyes after. "Come on! I'll show you!" Spot said. Spot and Bea left the scene, as Jewel slowly started following the two over to the jar of red paint Spot painted herself in.

"See, I turned red and so can you!" Spot told Jewel, as Jewel stood near the red paint jar. "I can't! I can't, I can't, I can't! Can't, can't!" Jewel said, averse to the idea. "Try one foot," Spot said. Jewel took off her shoe and sock, and dipped one toe in the red paint. "Well, I'll be a monkey's aunt!" Jewel said as she saw the red paint on her toe. Jewel wiggled her red painted toe at Spot, as Spot giggled. "Hey, Jewel, look at this!" Bea said offscreen, as Spot went to go see what was going on there. Jars of white, pink, yellow, and blue paint could be seen, as Jewel approached. "They're beautiful!" Spot said about the paint jars. "You know what, I wanna be blue!" Bea said as she jumped in the jar of blue paint, and out came a completely blue Bea as she giggled.

"Your turn, Jewel! Pick a color!" Spot told Jewel. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Who said I'm changing color? My favorite color may be pink, but I was sewn with all kinds of different colors, and by golly, I'm going to stay like that," Jewel said. "Jewel, I've never known how to say this, but sometimes, you look kind of uh... pink and green," Bea said. "Green? Me? Ridiculous!" Jewel said. "Maybe you're just a special shade of pink," Spot said. "She's got pink and green," Bea told Spot. "I heard that! I am not green and pink, okay? I am pink, and only pink!" Jewel said, as she wiggled the red paint off her toe. Jewel then ended up falling into the jar of yellow paint. "Uh oh," Spot and Bea said as they went to check on Jewel.

Jewel popped out of the paint and screamed, seeing that she's no longer her favorite color, pink, but she's now all yellow. "I'm yellow!" Jewel said, as Spot and Bea giggled at her. "I'm sorry, Jewel, but you do look nice in yellow, just like SpongeBob!" Bea said. Jewel looked at herself, and Spot nodded yes. "Well, you do have a point. I do look nice, don't I?" Jewel asked after looking at herself in yellow. Spot nodded yes. "You know, I have an idea! Follow me!" Bea said. "Bea thought it would be fun to try and fool some of their friends," I narrated. Bea, Jewel, and Spot went on over to Bea's owl, who was sleeping up in a tree as it was daytime. Spot giggled loud enough for the owl to hear. "Hello, Owl!" Spot said, as the owl opened an eye to take a look. Bea's owl was confused by all the colors, and went back to sleep, as the colorful Lalaloopsies giggled.

Bea, Jewel, and Spot then went on over to Jewel's cat storing some items in a tree hole. "Hi, Cat!" Bea, Jewel, and Spot each said as they approached. Jewel's cat got all confused, and ended up looking in the tree for some glasses to hopefully see properly. Jewel's cat put the glasses on upside down, and saw the colorful Lalaloopsies walking by, all blurry. Spot, Jewel, and Bea then approached Spot's zebra, who was sleeping outside. "He'll never guess who you are!" Jewel told Spot as she giggled to herself. Spot went on over to her pet zebra, and tried to get his attention. Spot then went inside the house Zebra was sleeping in, and took out a bone, which Zebra smelled and caused him to wake up. Spot's zebra made some noise, immediately recognizing her owner. "How did you know it was me?" Spot asked. Spot's zebra sounded that he knows everything, as he went back to sleep and chewed the bone.

Bea, Jewel, and Spot were walking across the green field back to the jars of colorful paint. "It was getting late, and Spot, Bea, and Jewel decided it was time to go back to their old colors. It's fun being different, but it's nice to go to bed as plain old you," I narrated. Jewel jumped in a jar of blue paint, and Spot jumped in a jar of yellow paint. The yellow paint didn't clean Spot, but instead turned Spot orange. "Orange! I'm orange!" Spot said as she looked at herself. "And you're green!" Spot told Jewel as she saw how Jewel looked. "I don't like this! Something funny's going on!" Jewel said. Bea jumped in the red paint, and that ended up turning her purple. "Huh, just as I thought!" Bea said. "What? What did you think? That I'd be green? Leaves are green, grass is green, frogs are green! I'm frog colored!" Jewel said as she looked at herself.

"No, I think the old paint and the new paint mixed together and made new colors!" Bea said. "Well, I think that's all fine and dandy, but I want my old colors back!" Jewel said. The green Jewel got in the jar of white paint, and Jewel ended up being mint green. "Aw, now I look like a sick frog!" Jewel said. Jewel went in the pink paint, which was her favorite color, but it only turned her a shade of brown, and falling in the yellow paint turned her a different shade of yellow. Jewel went back to the blue paint, which turned her a shade of moss green, which she did not like. "If I can't return to my old colors, I won't feel like Spot anymore!" Spot said. "It's not so bad, Spot. A lot of things change color. Leaves and grass and the sky at night," Bea said. "I tried them all, and now I'm brown, like mud! Bea, this is all your fault!" Jewel told Spot, as Jewel returned, all mud brown. "How is it my fault?" Bea asked. "I don't know, it just is! I'm going home!" Jewel said as she left.

"A brown Lalaloopsy, no thank you! I was sewn on March 13, 2010, before our doll line was even introduced, with pink and green, and raised that way! You ever heard of a big brown Lalaloopsy? Impossible!" Jewel said. Jewel then walked into the pond of water, and washed off the paint. "Although bears are brown, but they aren't Lalaloopsies. I wonder how they feel about that," Jewel said. "Jewel, you're back to your old colors again!" Spot said as she noticed. "The water must have washed it off!" Bea added. "Look at that! I'm my old self again!" Jewel said, all excited. "What are you waiting for? Come on in, the water's fine!" Jewel told Spot and Bea. Spot and Bea went in the pond, and their colors came off, as they both giggled. "And that's our lesson for today. It's fun to be different, but it's even more fun being blue, and red, and yellow," I narrated to end off this episode.
