Chapter Text
“Have you found anything yet? I looked through the cabins on this island, yet there is still no information.” Purple questioned Sixty4, tugging onto her purple leather jacket as they wandered the forest.
“Barely,” He sighed, “I don’t think there is any Vampires here like what they hypothesised.” He held onto the bark of a tree as he scouted around it, Purple exhaled as she kicked a barrel down. The mere cylinder object rattled while rolling, hitting the ground with a thud.
“What about you Ace? Have you gotten any information?” Ace perked his head up, his lack of concentration had made him stutter. He was just as jittery as a squirrel. “Oh, yeah! I mean, no not yet…” He gulped, hesitantly speaking up once more. “But there’s a lot more to explore on this island!” He smiled coyly towards Purple and Sixty4.
As they explored deeper into the woods, Purple caught a glimpse of a new passageway. Flashing her flashlight towards it, it illuminated the pristine new area, her eyes widened with hesitation to do more exploring, yet she was determined to find out more.
She turned her head back to the others as she directed Ace to head back to the campsite. She couldn’t possibly risk the life of a friend who was still new in hunting, one who was not cautious enough about the dangers and risks ahead. “Ace, I need you to head back to camp and check if any of our resources have had been stolen. This certain walkway is far too risky for a neophyte like you and I wouldn’t want you to take that risk.” Ace nodded, the thought of his friends not wanting to risk his well-being made him solaced.
Ace’s leather boots thudding against the dirt. The sound of leaves rustling in the trees from the breeze of the wind while dried up shrubbery were being crushed with each tramp on the ground. Ace couldn’t help but feel uneasy, the dark starry nights gaze fell upon him while he made his way back.
When soon, the orange firey-flame that was ignited glowed against his face, the warm heat projected onto his skin which sobered him before getting up to open the box full of resources. The casing of the box creaked open as he rummaged through what they’ve had. “One…two…three…” He counted each object to their amounts, grazing his palm against the fabrics of each one while letting out a huff. What do they need so many scent eliminators for?
The sudden static noise from his PTT murmured the sounds of the voice of Sixty4 and Purple, “We won’t be back in awhile! We found some things we can research about!” “Yeah dudes! And, we also found out that Vampires do stay here! Anyways, hope you’re safe at camp!”
Ace sheepishly smiled, the resources seemed to be in good condition. Some were pretty dusty, they only opened it when they were in need of something.
A sudden rustle in-between the bushes could be heard, but not just a normal rustle. It was the type where someone lurks through, moving against the shrubs. Ace turned his head to the left in one swift motion, he let out a raspy gasp before hesitatingly turning his head back to inspecting the objects. The same sudden rustling was then heard again, in a split second Ace turned his head again. But this time he caught a glimpse of something, no, someone.
The faint brown hair that had sprinted while hiding in the shrubs made him uneasy. Someone was watching him, someone was there and it certainly wasn’t his friends. Ace knew he had to act quickly, he grabbed his crossbow and emerged from the shadows. Scouting every corner and bit of the Campsite, inspecting the bushes and seeing if this so called person had left any traces of footsteps engraved in the dirt ground.
His breathing slowly became heavy as he came closer to his tent, taking a peek behind it. He looked around only to find nobody, he let out a sigh and turned his back against a tree. Suddenly, rustling was heard from above. Ace swiftly faced the tree before staring at the apex of it, a silhouette of a person casted down onto the dirt ground.
He let out a small gasp and stood rooted to the ground. A yellow-skinned vampire with brown silky hair, sharp wings juddering with each gust of wind was above. The orange helmeted man brought his crossbow up, holding it closely to his chest prepared to aim. When in one swift movement, the yellow vampire tackled the other down.
Ace dropped his crossbow beside him, the wooden gear just being a few inches away from him. So close in his grasp, yet so far, he shuffled and stretched his arm, fondling with the edges of the crossbow with his fingers almost obtaining the grasp of the mere object.
The vampire took note of his behaviour and snagged onto the pure-white skinned boys wrist, immediately pulling his arm away from reaching the weapon. “I don’t mean any harm! I don’t intend to harm you nor ruin your campsite!” The vamp hissed, sharp fangs reflecting back.
His tone was convincing, yet he sounded irritated. Ace gulped, unsure of what the other wanted, he hesitantly pushed the Vampire off. “What do you want?” He impeached, hyperventilating, “What are you trying to get from my Campsite?” The vampire gawped as his stomach growled, about to take flight away afraid that he’d get hunted down.
Ace tugged onto the other’s cape, “I,” He hesitantly took a deep breath before speaking out, “I have some red apples, I can share. Just wait here okay? I’ll be quick” As the orange helmeted hunter got up, he briskly made his way back. Opening up his food storage, taking a few red apples before closing it. He fleeted his way back hoping that the vampire hadn’t flew away yet, but thankfully, he didn’t.
“Here, these are some apples, red apples to be more specific. Be more cautious…” He spoke up in a iffy. The vampire took note of his behaviour and thanked him cheerfully, immediately taking a crunch out of the apple. “Eat them all, I don’t know how many you’d need. But you need to hurry up and leave, my friends are Vampire hunters’ and I don’t know what they would do if they saw you so you have to go!” Ace exclaimed, he didn’t want his own friends to find out he was with a Vampire.
Furthermore, he didn’t know when they were coming back. The vampire nodded and immediately flew away, face glistening in the moonlight before disappearing into the night. Ace sighed, before looking down in the dirt only to see the words, “ZACH”.
