The past three days were exhausting, the stability of SSS had begun the crack, and for Yuri, it was destroying him, it all started with a betrayal in the headquarters, multiple things had been leaked, files, active operation details, and the identities of at least three covers had either been gone, leaked, or sold to other people.
Yuri:'looking at a piece of paper, seeing that two of the assets he had personally looked over were now missing and compromised'
Then he looked up, he was behind the SSS building, and it was filthy, state beer on the ground and he swore he saw some mold move.
Yuri:’leans his back against the brick wall and sighs’
He had changed from his uniform to a soaked trench coat, his hands were shaking, he didn’t know if it was from the cold or the rage he was feeling, and he had called one someone, he had called Loid forger.
Yuri:’sighs a bit’
He had no idea why he called Loid, but it wasn’t like he had any other friends that he could call, besides, Loid knew his secret and could trust him.
Yuri:’slowly looks up hearing footsteps’
Loid:’eyes widened, looking at him’Yuir, what in the name that is our world is going on? What happened?
Yuri:’sighs as he brushes his hand through his wet hair, he groans, forgetting that it had rained, but he looks at Loid’
Loid: Yuri?
Yuri: I-i needed to see you…….
Loid:’helps him up’you’re soaked like a cat.
Yuri: hahaha, very funny.
Loid: don’t sass me, you can’t stand here in the rain, you’ll catch a cold if you stay out here, and you need a warm shower.
Yuri: no, I have to stay, we have to stay.
Loid: why?
Yuri: if i walk into the apartment, she’ll know, she’ll notice my mood, and she’ll worry, i can’t let her worry about me, not when i look like i just drowned in a bottle and acted like it wasn’t a big deal.
Loid: you said it, not me.
Yuri: screw you-
Loid: tell me what happened, now.
Yuri:.........fine, it was a leak, not from any of the organizations you and Yor work for, it was internal, someone in SSS has leaked information, we don’t know who did it, but we know it’s someone in a high position, it could be someone i trusted, a colleague, or maybe……..even a mentor.
Loid: explain the damage.
Yuri: an officer has been murdered on the job, and two more officers are killed, a border has been excused, failures have been happening more often, it happened multiple times, and evidence has been stolen or tampered with, which is causing problems…….it’s causing so many problems.
Loid: yuri……..
Yuri: People are relying on us, they rely on SSS, if we aren’t able to keep things in tact, how can they trust us to keep things safe?
Loid: And why are you telling me all of this?
Yuri: Because I can trust you, I know you won’t use this to your advantage, If I report through the proper channels of SSS, I'm going to make myself a target, and if Yor knew about this, she would worry herself to destruction.
They stare at each other for a moment.
Loid: Yuri, listen to what i have to say.
Yuri: huh?
Loid: you need to remain calm, for starters, and right now, we need to keep this on the low as much as possible, we need to protect everyone we know, if they know that we know, we will cause more trouble for all of us.
Yuri: I know.
Loid: i’m so sorry you went through this betrayal, Yuri, this isn’t just about betrayal, it’s destroying trust in everyone you work with, and that’s unforgivable, i heard that many people have had a rough time, and that they have people that are relying on them to keep them safe from danger.
Yuri: i know……….but-
Loid: I need a name, I need the method they are using, and I need everything you have access to, without compromising yourself further.
Yuri: y-you’re going to help me?
Loid: yes, i’m going to help you, and everyone else, but you must retain your position, you need to hide your pain, continue your routine to hide the drama that’s happening, just keep her busy while i work in the shadows, i’ll do what i can to fix things, to figure out how to fix this whole mess.
Then he puts a hand on Yuri’s shoulder.
Yuri:’tears up’
Loid: you’re not alone.
Yuri: L-Loid…….
Loid this is what's going to happen, you are going to give me everything I need to know, then you're going to go home, take a warm shower, and think of a lie about why you're late, and tell me what it is so I can help.
Yuri: good idea.
Loid: and then you're going to act normal, you're going to talk to your sister like you didn't just go through hell.
Yuri: I think I can do that.
Loid: I hope you can, or else we’re dead.
Then Yuri quickly wipes his tears away.
Yuri: but you know, if you try to leverage me by doing this, if this is all an act just to get my guard down-
Then he yelps as Loid flicks his forehead.
Loid: stop that, I'm not doing this just yet an advantage, i'm doing this to protect the family, which includes you.
Yuri: huh?
Loid: I understand that the Betrayal has left a lot of wounds on you, but you can let one betrayal destroy all of the relationships you have, and if you keep questioning everything you've done, you're going to destroy yourself, and I'm not going to let you do that, you’re my brother in law, hell, you’re the brother i wish i had.
Yuri:’starts to cry’
Loid:’rubs his back’sshhh, it’s ok.
Yuri: i-it’s just been so hard!!!
Loid: Now, tell me everything I need to know, and I'll make sure they regret putting their hands on your career.
Yuri: ya, make them regret it.
Loid: don’t worry, i will, i’m going to fix this mess so your coworkers can rest easily, and so our family doesn’t have to worry about anything, let us handle the work while they live happily, and they will live once we handle this.
Yuri:’stares at him’
Loid: Now, tell me who did this.
Yuri: It was Ryszard, he was the person who recommended me, he signed my commission, i thought i was seeing things but………
Flashback…..
Yuri: I trusted you!
Ryszard: Yuri, you are acting ridiculous!
Yuri: Do you have an idea on what you’re doing?!
Ryszard:’pushes him to a wall’
Yuri:’gasps and slides down’
Ryszard: get out of my sight, now!
Yuri:’shaking and runs off’
Ryszard:’huffs and walks off’
End of flashback…….
Yuri:’shivers and touches his sides’
Loid: evidence speaks louder than words.
Yuri:’frowns and nods’yes, i saw him moving files……but you know this isn’t going to be an easy job, he has a high position.
Loid: i know.
Yuri: and try to be careful.
Loid: i will.
Yuri: Loid?
Loid: yes?
Yuri:’hug him’
Loid: what the-
Yuri: Thank you so much.
Loid:'smiles and gently pats his head'you’re welcome, and i understand, also, i would suggest destroying that phone you used to call me.
Yuri: It's a burner phone, don’t worry.
Loid: good, now let’s go, and also, you really need to go home before you get sick, Yor will be suspicious if you are sick.
Yuri: oh, you’re right!
They quickly run to other directions, Yuri couldn’t help but smile, Loid was like a big brother to him, one that would protect him, no matter what.
