The sun was setting, the tall snow tower painted to soft orange tones. Thomas had grown used to always being pulled to the side by the chain, but it was off now.
For a bit, Thomas even felt free, even if he wasn't trapped before. He knew better than to get attached to someone he knew is going to stay by his side only for one session, but he had to admit; he enjoyed every moment he spent with Micro, every laugh they shared and every time they saved eachother from danger.
Micro wasn't the best player, and not the worst- Thomas quite enjoyed helping the other out at times. And he was sure Micro loved the moments they had together aswell.
Thomas couldn't help but think if this was a cruel joke by whatever gods are ordering this around- making people attached to one another, just to pull them apart. Atleast Jaw and Wobb were lucky enough to be together once again next time. He wasn't entirely sure if you can call dying lucky, but they died together, didn't they?
Thomas sat atop the unfinished snow tower, his scarred face fixed straight ahead, staring at the setting sun. He turned his head back when he heard footsteps, seeing Micro getting up the tower aswell.
"Hey." Micro murmured, plopping down somewhere beside Thomas.
Thomas nodded silently. He turned his eyes towards Micro, the other's gaze on the sky.
"You think we'll be partnered again someday?" Thomas raised a brow. Micro hummed, a small smile on his face.
"Maybe. I hope we do. Not everyday you get partnered with someone so good at minecraft!" He chuckled.
Thomas smiled back, rubbing the back of his neck. "Okay." He replied, almost prideful.
A beat of silence passed before Micro spoke up again, turning his head towards Thomas.
"Even if we're not partnered next time, we can still be, y'know.. friends, teammates, whatever," Micro paused for a moment. "We don’t have to part ways fully. Well, of course, we will have our new teammates but.. We can still visit eachother."
Thomas nodded. "Yeah. Sounds nice." He kept his gaze fixated on Micro, speaking up again after another short silence. "I don't really want another partner. You're pretty cool." He scoffed.
"Well, we cant do anything about that.." Micro chuckled aswell, tapping his fingers over his knee. "Dont die though. Hope you're not partnered with Zam next time."
Thomas snorted. "You think I'm gonna die? God." Micro snickered lightly.
The two sat in silence for the rest of the time, staring into the sun as it slowly began disappearing behind the snowy mountains. They knew that as soon as the sun set, they'll have to part ways, and eventually be assigned a new link. Thomas, honestly, dread that time.
Before the sun set fully, Thomas stole another quick glance at Micro, his eyes meeting with the other's. Micro gave a slight smile, both then getting kicked for the time being.
