Pasta's hands were shaking almost violently around the handles, her gaze was forward, and unfortunately, it was late at night and she could see nothing. Maybe a few miles out, there were speckles of light from the city, but she wasn't near the city. She wasn't even going toward the damn city.
She was supposed to be dropping off the plane, but this was also the fucked up part. She didn't know how to set the plane down nicely, and certainly not in the water.
"I'm going to die, I'm going to die," she whispered under her breath and into the comm where she's been talking to Lui for the past ten minutes. He kept going off comm's to speak with Nogla who was out in the woods with Brian and Evan. They were there to do the meeting while she's dropping off the parcel.
Everything was going wrong in her mind.
"You're fine, you're fine," Lui said, finally reentering her ear.
She whined, fingers tightening around the handles, "No, Lui! Please, you have to help me! I've never done this before!"
Lui snickered, "Do you realize how many times you've said that and you did fine before."
"I crashed that one plane, remember?"
"That was supposed to happen, besides, you also learned how to jump out of a plane with a parachute."
She didn't like that experience either, and recalled her hand grasping the door and watching in shock as each of her friends jumped without hesitation. She had to go next, screaming for them to help her.
"Don't worry, I have someone to help you deal with your flight fear," Lui said.
She also knew he was in a plane, but his task was far different than hers. And then she heard a thump above the plane, her breath becoming more shaky as the plane moved up and down like the waves far below her.
"W-What was that, Lui? Something is on top of the plane!"
She heard a tapping on the glass, and turned to see someone wearing goggles, hair flying about as they gripped the side.
"That's Emerome, let her in before she flies off and the parachute is destroyed through the air," Lui said as smoothly as ever. Nothing seemed to phase him besides a failed mission.
Pasta swallowed thickly and reached over to open the door. Em managed to clamber in, gripping the upholstery before tugging the door closed.
"Oh God, why are you here? Is this Lui's fucking idea?" Pasta whimpered.
"Get out of the chair, Pasta, let me do this," Em said.
"Do you even know how!?"
"Sort've."
"Sort've?" Pasta did as she was told, unbuckling herself and climbing out of the chair so Em could take her place. She had pulled the rest of the parachute off of Em as she began to fly.
Emerome played with the radio for a second and they heard Lui's voice come through. "I'm in the plane, going down toward the drop off point."
"There's a drop off point?" Pasta wondered.
"Okay, the rest of the team is left, and soon, you'll be making your drop, don't miss," said Lui.
"Roger that," said Emerome.
Pasta was confused, gripping the seat belt. "What is going on?" she asked her.
They were told the meeting was over, and the rest of their friends was a pretty good distance away, and Emerome flew the plane close enough toward the water. She pressed a button, and several things fell from the plane, making it easier to lift them back into the air.
Pasta watched out the window as the small house down there by the beach was blown up. "This is going to make a forest fire, what the fuck?"
Lui laughed in the radio, "There's strong winds and a rain cloud coming this way in a few minutes. We should be fine by then. No one really expected us to move the date so close to a cloudy night."
Emerome smiled at Pasta, "You alright?"
She nodded slowly. "And what, I wasn't allowed to know the true plan?"
"It was far more fun that way," said Lui.
Emerome leaned over and turned off the radio. "Come on, you're fine, we're both fine. Let's just get out of here and make these guys order pizza."
Pasta agreed, enjoying the thought of pizza, "Okay, but next time, you better tell me if they ever have a secret plan again."
"It was a surprise," said Em.
"Yeah, sure, how surprising," Pasta said, playfully rolling her eyes. "I want to be in on the action. No planes!"
"No planes," Emerome promised.
