My Vampire Boxer

Summary:

“But Sunghoon, I’m scared-“ hesitation takes over his words. He’s not sure if he’s ready to commit such a big risk.

“Please Niki.” Sunghoon begs. He hands finds his ways to Niki’s, interlocking his smooth palms with the younger’s rough ones.

“You need this..”

I need you.

Or

Sunghoon is a vampire, disguising himself as a doctor, working at a small clinic for an illegal boxing arena which is located under a club. He deals with one of the boxers, Niki, who is one of the most strongest fighters that works in the arenas, never losing any of his fights, is also completely head over heels for him.

He held his little secret of craving for blood for a decent time, but his real self is caught in the act. What will he do?

Chapter 1: Whoops.

Summary:

Sunghoon expects his shift to start and end like his usual. Enter the clinic, clean, help the patients, maybe have 1 or two bags of blood to drink, pack up, get out.

It sounded simple, and it was simple. He does this every single night. How can it go wrong?

Chapter Text

The city's lights were filled by the lights of cars zooming past one another and the lights of indoors were illuminated under the moon’s bright glow. Roads were filled by vehicles of different sizes, pavements being continuously trolled on by large pacts of people. Shops like restaurants nearby closes, whilst the others open, attracting hungry customers at night.

But a local club stays open. Thousands of people coming in with nice attractive clothes enter, whilst small groups of others with their clothes slightly messed and ruined with a lingering smell of alcohol and lust leaves.

It smells like absolute dog shit in here. Sunghoon scrunches up his nose a bit as he enter the building, cringing whilst he’s overwhelmed with the smells of different alcohols stuffing his nose.

Sunghoon is tall, handsome man; he had nice, smooth, black hair, his eyelashes long and eyebrows thick over his brown boba eyes, white skin with moles scattered around his face, particularly his nose and cheek, emphasising his feminine, yet sharp facial features. His body seemed huge under his casual huge clothes, but was actually surprisingly slim, though he did have a few muscles. His two canines were sharp, making him look like those vampires from fiction books, them being his alleged trademark.

And as much as he liked people practically drooling for him, his ‘trademark’ wasn’t exactly good news for him, as he was an undiscovered vampire, meaning if someone caught him feasting on a corpse for their blood, he’d be dead.

He wasn’t scared of death, well, not necessarily. Everybody suspected him as a normal guy and no one had caught him drinking blood. He has nothing to be scared of, so why should he be?

His face doesn’t seem afraid, hidden under a bland expression as he walked deeper into the club, trying his best not to bump into anyone, and if he did, no one will be able to hear him apologise as the inside was being blasted by loud disco music.

His footsteps were unheard as he walked down the stair which led to the arena he worked at. And at the entrance, was Jay, another vampire, who worked at the front desk to let people in.

“Sunghoon-ah, how are you?” Jay’s grin slowly grew as he saw his younger friend approach.

“Alright I guess? Just let me in.”

“Okay, Jesus, what got you riled up already?”

Shit, did I sound to rude? Sunghoon felt a wave of guilt, overthinking he sounded so inconsiderate.

“Sorry man, I could already smell a fuck ton of alcohol at the entrance and it gives me a head ache. I already know more people got wasted than usual.” He sighed.

“Ahh, that’s fair, I smelt it too. Maybe people are celebrating something? Who knows.”
Jay shrugs it off.

“Maybe.” He agrees before opening the door, walking into the lightened up hallways into the clinic so he’ll be able to put his bag in there. But what stops him from doing so is the crowd from the arena.

The fans roared and cheered for whoever was on, and booed for whoever they hated. In the arena, there was Min Junhyun, a great boxer, on one side and on the opposite, was Nishimura Riki, well known as Niki.

Niki was also a boxer, and was the one who always won in most matches, undeniably stronger, better. He was tall, definitely taller than Sunghoon, and had a great, much leaner body build. His bleached blonde hair stayed together , slicked with sweat, which trickled down his thick neck and onto his toned chest. He wore a troubling grin as he stared down his opponent. As much as Niki looked scary, he was actually quite friendly, well towards Sunghoon. He’d always come to the clinic after his matches and tries ‘talking’ to Sunghoon, though it never actually manages to long last. Sunghoon’s tone is usually cold and rude, whilst Niki’s is flirty and energised. And it bothers Sunghoon how Niki can just simply fight, get blood trickling down his body and go to Sunghoon, with a jolly smile on his face like his matches were so easy. Maybe they were. He’s seen Niki win countless of times, maybe losing a few rounds, but it always ends with the younger winning.

As for right now, Sunghoon believed it was his second round, maybe his third, considering the blood that streamed down Juhyun’s nose, stopping just right at the mouth.

The whistle began, and both made moves. They walked in opposite directions whilst looking at each other, dead in the eyes , clearly intimidating the other.

It happens too fast for Sunghoon’s reaction, but Juhyun snaps forward and tries to make a hit on Niki’s untouched face, which fails miserably as Niki just ducks down on time to miss the blow, perfect position for him to hit the target straight in the stomach.

Pow! One blow.

Pow! Another blow.

Juhyun can’t catch up and takes devastating damage, which causes him to curl and hunch his back forward with his head down, looking where the pain rests, but Niki doesn’t allow that to happen.

Kick!

Unfortunately for Juhyun, his head was in the perfect place to get knocked out by Niki’s unpredicted incoming foot. Juhyun lets out a pained grunt as he tumbled onto the floor, weak and defeated.

“Niki wins!”

The crowd’s cheer gets louder to the point it starts irritating Sunghoon’s ear. He goes back to opening the door and steps foot into the clinic.

It’s nothing much but with the essentials: sink, cupboards, beds for the patient, first aid stuff, everything he needed. Sunghoon light throws his bag onto a near by stool, walking forward so he can rinse his hands to remove any excess dirt left.

Time doesn’t let him get ready as he is brung a guy on a bed by another male. The male looks older, was he in his fifties? Oh but the guy on the bed definitely looks like Juhyun, so that means the older guy must be his coach.

“I got uhh.. a patient for you doc.” The guy speaks, his voice low.

“Okay, set him on the bed for me, will you?”

With a hum, he lifts the corpse from the now blooded bed onto the clinic’s one with a slight struggle.

Sunghoon comes closer to the corpse whilst he puts on his stethoscope and places the other end on to the patient’s chest, directly to the heart. He hears it:

Bump. Bump. Bump. He’s still alive.

“He’s just blacked out, nothing too special. He’ll wake up soon.” Sunghoon spoke, taking off the stethoscope before placing it onto the counter to look at Juhyun’s coach.

“Oh, alright. Thank you, doctor.” He speaks as he quietly leaves the room, the door closing with a loud thud.

Sunghoon’s attention turns to the patient. Blood. It’s just all around his nose and head. It’s shining, glistening under the lights, which flicker from time to time.Oh Sunghoon isn’t able to take his eyes off the red coming from the boxer’s nose.

It looks so appetising, so appealing to him.

Sunghoon’s throat becomes dry, gulping whatever he has left down, fighting the urge to begin sucking blood out of the male’s neck. All of a sudden, he thinks when was the last time he ever drank blood.

Monday? It’s Friday today. Four days. That’s reasonable.

His head swiftly turns to a cabinet and he starts by opening his mini fridge, which is located in one of the bottom cabinets. Inside is scarce amount of blood bags available, roughly three blood bags and a half left for Sunghoon. But he doesn’t have time to think about it and takes out the almost emptied bag, turning around from the fridge, kicking the door shut as he hungrily rips the bag open and brings it to his mouth to feast on.

Oh shit it felt good. The sweet, irony taste of someone’s blood goes down Sunghoon’s gulping throat, the crimson liquid staining his what was before pink lips, now pooled down his chin onto his neck.

His pupil’s grow bigger, loving the taste of blood as he consumes more. But the bag is empty, leaving a few droplets of red to land straight on to Sunghoon’s red stained tongue.

I need more.

He doesn’t think twice and takes another bag out from the fridge, opening it with desperate energy, and feasts. He growls. He can feel his heart pumping much faster blood into his veins, it’s visible on his hands-

“Sunghoon-ah!” A low, but what sounded like a happy voice suddenly breaks in. It’s Niki at the entrance, the door slightly opened.

“Sunghoon Hyung, I saw you at the door whilst I was on. Did I look cool? Did you see me win?” Niki opens the metal door with his large hands to enter the room.

“I know you saw me win, I saw you watch through the whole match, I know you definitely saw me-” Niki’s words get caught at his throat.

“What the fuck.?”

Shit.

Chapter Text

They just stared down at each other so still it was like someone had froze time, one of the male eyes widened, mouth slightly opened; shocked, whilst the vampire is also as shocked as the human, same widened, eye same expression, their mouth parted in a way that showed their pointed fang-like canines. They probably were fangs, but only the vampire himself knew.

But something in their eye brows that was slightly arched in a more was scared way, showed that he was horrified. Afraid even.

The terrified lad was not in the correct mind space to even realise that the grip he had on the blood bag, which had a drop of blood slowly flowing down it, unconsciously loosened up. The bag took its time and had finally fell onto the white tiled floor, red, crimson liquid flowing out of it, causing it to pool and spread onto the surface.

Both of the male’s eyes followed the bag and watched it fall from Sunghoon’s hand, their attention now focused on how slowly the blood pooled out red onto the ground.

God, how is he going to explain to Jay he had gotten caught by a human, feasting on someone’s blood? What was Jay going to do? And quite frankly, what was Sunghoon going to do?

Sunghoon had finally realised the situation he was in and lifted his head, eyes landing directly onto Niki’s figure. And the younger must’ve felt his eyes focus on his body, because he was now slowly lifted up his head, eyes meeting up with the other as that exact same facial expression stayed, as if it was now permanently glued onto his face.

Sunghoon finally snapped out of his trance.“Niki-ah, I-I can explain!-”

Niki stayed still, frozen in place.

“I w-was just- I wasn’t- I’m n-not-”

“A vampire..?” Niki finally speaks up although his voice sounded hesitant and quiet, as if he was trying to be wise about his words and level of volume.

Sunghoon stays silent, not sure what to say. His eyes meet up with Niki’s, who no longer looked afraid, but was now either confused or concerned.

“Niki-ah.-“

“You’ve been a vampire all along?”

“I- uh-”

Sunghoon doesn’t know what to say. He doesn’t know whether to admit that he is a vampire to Niki or keep it hidden. But there’s no way he can convince someone who already witnessed a crime with their own eyes.

Sunghoon doesn’t have time to talk, but someone’s voice can be heard in the hall outside the metal door . Their voice is raspy, and it sounds like a voice a grown man would have.

“Niki-ah where the fuck are you at? Get your ass here now!”

The two boys’ heads turn towards where the voice comes from. The volume gets quieter, meaning whoever is calling Niki is getting further away. Niki’s head turns around, and it draws Sunghoon’s attention from the door to Niki.

“I.. have to go.”

And he runs off.

I’m so fucking stupid!

Sunghoon overthinks as he enters the club the next day. He’s been thinking — will Niki snitch on him?

He walks into the arena after greeting Jay at the desk, and walks nervously straight into the clinic. He doesn’t show it, but he knows that Niki is in the arena, in a middle of a match. But what he doesn’t know, Niki sees him for a split second, before barely missing an incoming swing.

The bag Sunghoon brung is thrown onto a nearby chair, which he sits next to, elbows in contact with the table, back hunched with his head in his hands that interlocks with his black combed out hair. His hands turn into fists, scrunching up his hair and holding it with a grip.

He’s stressed, stressed out about what happened the previous night.

Has Niki told everybody?

Has he snitched on me?

Does Jay know?

He ponders off for a while, puffing out a heavy sigh. He wants to calm down, and tries cooling off by taking out his phone from his back pocket, noticing how he’s got three unknown messages from someone.

He taps on the user and sees—

Unknown:

Sunghoon.
We need to talk.
And before you ask, I haven’t told anybody.

read now.

Sunghoon has a gut feeling that the user is Niki, but he’s not quite definite. He jumps to the sudden door which flies open; and it reveals Niki; but there blood oozing from his mouth. Sunghoon panics and rushes towards the younger.

“Niki! What the fuck happened to you-”

Niki doesn’t let him talk, but connects his lips with his. It’s sudden and unexpected, which makes Sunghoon try and push away, but Niki wraps his hands around Sunghoon’s waist, his grip on him is inhuman. Sunghoon’s hands land on the taller’s chest and tries everything he’s got, wasting his energy just to try and get away before it’s too late, but nothings works.

But then it kicks in.

Blood.

He can taste a sweet irony flavour of it on his tongue. It’s Niki’s blood, and he can’t get enough of it. Sunghoon loves the flavour it’s producing, and he wants more.

His hands now clasp around the taller’s cheeks, trying keep the younger’s in place, allowing him to have more access in the Niki’s mouth.

Sunghoon goes in for more, stepping forwards and leaning in nearer to the other, which doing this deepens the two’s kiss. It makes Niki stumble a bit, he places a foot behind him so he’s able to keep his balance.

The two carry on kissing, well, ‘making out’ as they fight with their tongue who’s in control, and right now it’s Sunghoon, the blood pumping up his energy. Niki doesn’t allow this, and uses some of his strength to hover over him, his back hunched over whilst the older’s is ached back.

It is a bit uncomfortable for Sunghoon, but he tries not to put too much attention to it, his mind focusing on gathering and consuming most of the blood that is coming out of Niki’s mouth. But Niki must’ve sensed how unpleasant his posture is, and decides to press his back onto the table.

Sunghoon feels more comfy now that his back is pressed against something, and he finds it is way easier to get blood, since it’s falling down from the other’s mouth. He wraps his arms around his neck, pulling the other in, which Niki complies to.

The kiss is too heated for them now; they’re practically panting into each other mouths. Drool seeps from Sunghoon’s mouth, and it rolls down. It’s a bit disgusting for the vampire, who’s been a clean person, never leaving a mess.

His hands fall from the lad’s neck and it slides to his chest, and he lightly taps on it to signal the younger that he needs to breathe. Niki understands and pulls away from the kiss, a string of saliva mixed with a bit of blood connects the two’s kiss.

The two look at each other dead in the eyes whilst trying to gather their breathe, and stay that way for a while, with Niki’s hands on Sunghoon’s hips, and with his hands resting on either sides of Niki’s broad and strong shoulders. They’re both in different mindsets, in a way that looks like they’re admiring each other’s beauty whilst they can.

Sunghoon is the first one to snap back to reality, and his face is flushed. He coughs to break the thick atmosphere before turning his head, adverting his gaze away as he hides his soft rose coloured face.

Niki stares at him boldly as he does so, and almost unconsciously, he smiles. Sunghoon is able to see him grin, and speaks up, embarrassed.

He lifts up from the table, sitting himself up as he sits onto the table, squished between Niki.

“W-why’d you do that?”

“To see if you really were a vampire.”

Shit, that’s smart

Sunghoon blinks, once, then twice. When has Niki ever been so smart to pull such a move?

“T-that’s… admittedly clever, and you’ve caught me. But why kiss me? You could’ve picked any other way to see if I was a vampire.”

“I got punched in the ring in the mouth and saw blood drip down, so I thought ‘hey, maybe I could use my blood as bait for Sunghoon’.”

Sunghoon sighs, he’s head down.

He gets up and walks to one of the drawers, inside is a first aid kit which has a pack of cotton buds, and he takes them out.

He takes out a piece of a cotton bud and walks towards Niki, holding it.

“Say ‘ah’.” He demands, his mouth in a ‘o’ shape for Niki to copy.

“Uhh, ah? Mhphm!” Niki is surprised when Sunghoon unexpectedly shoves the fluff into his mouth.

“Bite on that for a while.”

Sunghoon walks away to close the drawer. In the meantime, Niki turns to lean on the table, he looks around the room; he looks at items, tables, the roof, the lights, but his eyes automatically looks at the other’s figure, watching the elder.

Sunghoon feels his gaze on him, and knows for sure the younger is already bored. But he doesn’t do anything about it, and neither does he talk.

It’s awkward again. The silence fills the room, the tension between the two is unbearable and uncomfortable, so with a hand to the neck to scratch, Niki speaks up.

“I like you, hyung.”

It surely makes Sunghoon stunned. He whips his head to turn to the other, who’s already staring him down, but there’s something in his eyes that are shining. He.. looked sad? But why?

He stares back, unsure of what to say, but he’s not able to form words that are suitable enough to reply, so instead he says this:

“Will you tell on me? About being.. a vampire to the public?”

Niki’s head slightly lifted up upon his voice.

“Your not answering me though..”

“I said I like you.”

Sunghoon feel’s his heart beating, skipping a beat in the process.

“I-I don’t understand — what do you expect me to say?” He’s confused and is struggling to keep up with the younger.

“I want you to say it back.”

They continue to stare. The room is silent, and it sure is uncomfortable.

Sunghoon takes a breath and slowly exhales before saying, “I-I like you too.” And he doesn’t know what to expect next.

Niki steps forwards to get closer, and looks down at him once he’s at a good distance. His voice is low whilst he speaks.

“I won’t tell the public your secret.”

Sunghoon isn’t sure whether to celebrate — all he had to do is ‘confess’ to Niki so he won’t snitch? He doesn’t get it. He can’t tell if he’s happy or not, that Niki won’t tell.

“If..”

If?

Of course there would be consequences, for sure they wouldn’t have such silly demand and automatically Niki will oblige to him, it seemed way too easy.

Sunghoon raises his head.

“If.?”

“If you date me.”

Chapter 3: Decisions.

Summary:

Sunghoon’s not sure of how to reply, he doesn’t know if the younger is joking as well.

Chapter Text

What?

Sunghoon is confused, and doesn’t know how to react. All of this is happening way too fast for his liking, and he’s getting overwhelmed with questions in his head.

Date? You must be kidding, right?

Sunghoon looks away and lets out an awkward laugh. Niki stares down at him, his expression still, as if it were serious. He probably was, but it was really hard for him to tell.

“What’s so funny?” His voice blooms all of a sudden, and it catches Sunghoon off guard.

“It’s just — you want me to just date you? In order for you to keep your mouth shut?”

“If that’s how you want to put it, sure yeah, I guess.”

Sunghoon laughs to himself even more. This is a joke, right?

“Wow, I expected you to just ask for my money or something.”

“I’d ask you something way more..affectionate but you wouldn’t understand.”

And he doesn’t seem to. He frowns his eyebrows and looks at the younger, and he’s clearly confused. The younger looks back, and his stupid little smirk reappears, like always.

He asks. “What do you mean by that?” And the younger laughs it off. “I told you, you wouldn’t understand.”

He walks towards the door, his hand resting on the handle to pull on, the door opening with the lights from the hallway entering part of the room. Before he steps out, he turns back to get a good look at Sunghoon — he’s staring back, lips parted at the slightest.

“If you got a text that said something about ‘not telling anybody’, then that’s me. Text me when you get home.”

The shuts behind him, a big ‘thud’ following straight behind.

Sunghoon stands in the centre of the room, alone now. He looks at the clock. 2am. I should go home now.

-

His apartment door opens up, light shining on clean wooden floor. Inside the apartment, it’s dark, with only a ray of light.

Sunghoon takes a step into it, he hangs his coat up on the wall, walks straight towards the kitchen. He opens his fridge up, nothing but only blood bags stacked up neatly inside. He reaches his hand into his beige bag, and pulls out three more pounds of blood baggies from the clinic to add to his stash.

After he makes a new pile of blood bags, he goes to the bathroom and changes, doing his daily night routine after having a lukewarm shower.

He steps out, the steam running out of the room only to quickly evaporate, he’s dressed in a loose plain white t-shirt and black shorts, with a soft towel on his shoulders to prevent the water from dropping onto his shirt.

He walks to his bed, falling back to lie down. He lets out a loud sigh, eyes shut as he’s fully relaxed. He’s spread out on the bed, looking like star fish; his limbs apart. His eyes stay shut for a while, and remembers everything that had happen recently - he drank some blood on his job, got caught by Niki. Next he starts his job to find Niki entering the room with blood coming in his mouth, then voluntarily makes out with him just to make sure he’s an actual vampire.

Ding!

His thoughts are disturbed when his phone gets a notification. Eyes are now open, and he leans over to grab his phone from his night stand.

The screen’s brightens is very high, and Sunghoon’s eyes can’t take it, he lets out a soft hiss under his breath, immediately turning down the brightness.

Straight after, he’s scrolling through his messages, and he finds an unread one.

Unknown
hey, it’s my Niki, text me when you’ve read this

It’s Niki. He remembers he is supposed to text him when he has gotten home. His fingers move, tapping away at the keyboard.

Sunghoon
hey, what’s up

Niki
hey hyung, just wanted to know if you’re ok

Sunghoon
oh? well I’m fine right now

Niki
hmm, that’s good

There’s a pause in his fingers. Sunghoon starts to chew the inside of his lips as he waits for Niki to start talking, why he suddenly texts him — but there’s no response.

Sunghoon
soo..
why’d you text me?

Niki
i wanted to talk about you dating me

There it is.

Sunghoon frowns, he’s tired of trying to avoid the subject about their relationship.

Sunghoon
your still on that?

Niki
well yea
ive liked you for a long time, ever since you started working at the clinic
and since you’ve got a little secret about yourself, i feel that it’s an appropriate
deal for us to exchange

Sunghoon laughs ou aloud, he’s joking. An ‘appropriate’ deal? That’s complete bullshit and he hopes the boxer is having a laugh. He’s instantly back on his fingers to reply:

Sunghoon
thats bullshit niki, me dating you is too much for a deal

Niki
for you, sure
but do you really want me to tell everyone your a monster?

Sunghoon’s fingers freeze again on the spot. Is Niki really threatening him all because he doesn’t want to date him?

Sunghoon
your being a dramatic dick now niki.
it’s literally just a secret, is it too really much to ask for you to
keep quiet?

Sunghoon
dating you is just well, weird

Sunghoon
we’re just friends niki

Sunghoon
and I wouldn’t want to get with someone who’s going to snitch
on them just because they didn’t want to be with them, that’s such a pussy move.

Niki
you say that like you haven’t just stuttered yesterday
you fumbled whilst gaslighting me that your not a vampire.
whilst mid-drinking straight up blood right in front of me

Niki
you begged, hyung, begged for me not to tell on anyone
i pitied you
and you dating me is the easiest deal made, you don’t even have to act like
your actually in love with me

Sunghoon
but still, I’m not fucking comfortable!
forcing me to be in a fucking relationship with you does nothing
but make me not want to be with you even more.

Sunghoon
you’d never catch me being with a fucking asshole
like your shit self niki.

Niki
ha.

Niki
if you fucking don’t, i swear make sure my people will
do their best to make you suffer your death after I tell them your a
fucking monster

Niki
but that’s your decision

Sunghoon bolts up from his bed, sitting straight up in shear panic. He mutters under his breath. “That dickhead wouldn’t dare,” and brings a hand up to comb back his clean fluffy hair away from his face.

He’s uncomfortable from the way the younger is texting him, and he’s stressed already about his future.

But surely Niki wouldn’t do that to him, right? The bastards got a fat crush on him anyway, so it will only pain him to realise he had killed his love.

Sunghoon
your fucked in the head if you do that
you can’t just force me into a relationship with you

Sunghoon
and even if you did kill me, your just making the situation worse for yourself

Sunghoon
don’t you have a crush on me anyway, you said it yourself
won’t you think it’ll be sad if you kept reminding yourself that ended your crush’s life?

Niki
your right, it would be sad

He’s confused. If Niki doesn’t want him to be killed, why is he threatening him to death?

Sunghoon
then why kill me if you want me to be in a relationship with you?

Niki
so after my people will try find more of your species of
monsters, they’ll realise that your kingdom’s fall is your fault
why they’re dying and suffering.

Niki
since every bad thing that had happened was because of you,
Sunghoon

Sunghoon drops his phone on the blanket beside him, and consciously, he brings his legs up to his chest, slowly curling himself into a ball. His head feels heavy and overflowing with held back tears. He sinks his head and he rests it on his knees, letting out a sniffle.

His tears are overflowing, but they aren’t able to roll down his cheek, so they stay in contact with his eyes.

He reminds himself he’s grown, he shouldn’t cry. But those fucked memories keep reminding him that indeed; it was his fault.

-

Rays of sun passes through the windows, and it lands on the white covered walls. The house is quiet, silence with nothing but the birds high chirping outside being heard, as they flap their wings above the house.

Inside, Sunghoon is playing with his younger sister, Yeji, who’s six, and he’s playing with her toys in her room. The two are laughing, smiles that show clear joy and happiness that erupts out of their throats as laughter.

Their giggling is heard across the room, which is opened by their mother.

“Come on you two, it’s time for lunch.” The mum say.

They ignore what she said, but she isn’t angry enough to shout, instead, she can’t help but smiles as the two continue to play with each other.

They’re just kids after all.

“Mama, come join us!” Sunghoon looks at her with a teethy smile.

“Yeah! Come play with us mama!” Yeji joins in, her high pitched voice too adorable for the mother to not refuse.

“Okay you two, but straight after, we eat. Is that a deal?”

She laughs to her children eagerly nodding their heads whilst they both hand her their figurines.

Going forth, they play, their laughter combined as they speak. Oh, the kids were really enjoying their time, and it makes the mother smile to herself; she thinks her kids are adorable, and mesmerises the way they laugh together, their smiles are wide, and it makes her think of how much she loves them.

The three had a great time bonding with one another, but it is now the time where they stop.

The mum stands up slowly, and stretches her arms, raising them up to the sky before letting a relieved sigh. She looks down at the her Sunghoon and Yeji, who are still in the middle of playing pretend, and states,“Okay you two, it’s time to eat. You can play afterwards.”

Expected, the kids go and argue back in a complaining tone. “Can we play some more?” They beg, but the mother doesn’t allow that.

“No, we already have for an half an hour. You two can continue playing after we eat, is that okay?”

In defeat, the two of them nod their head, which hang low, facing the floor as they pout their lips out. The mother smiles. “I promise we can play straight after.” She leans down to grab one hand from Sunghoon and Yeji, holding them in her hands as she lead the to the table to sit.

They sit comfy on the chair, and start making jokes to one another, each joke making the both of them laugh, once again their mother smiles to herself, the giggling from her children warms her heart.

She holds two bowls that carry warm steamy soup noodles, and he hands them over to the table where her kids sit, gently placing them.

“Be careful now, it’s hot. Make sure to blow on them.” She warns before walking away.

“Thank you, Mama!” They exclaim, grabbing their spoons and scooping a spoonful of steamy soup before blowing on it a few times to slurp it up. It’s delicious. It’s seasoned just right, and it tastes superb on their tongue.

The mother comes back to the table, two glasses of water in her hands. She places it on the table, one for each of them. They carry on eating as she gives them a drink.

“Mama, wheres Papa?” Sunghoon asks, he looks up at his mother, who looks down on him and smiles, reaching a hand on his fluffy hair and she begins to stroke it.

“He’s at work, love. He’ll be back soon, don’t worry. Carry on eating, otherwise it will get cold.” Her tone is soft as she reassures him.

Sunghoon goes back to eating, just like he’s told, taking another spoonful of soup to swallow up.

-

It’s late now, and curious Sunghoon wonders where his dad is at right now. He thinks he’s still and work, and hopes too, because it’s 11 o’clock right now, and he’s laying on his bed all nice and comfy, staring at the ceiling.

The room is covered with the night’s light which comes out of his blinds, joining his star-shaped night light which shines over his room. The wind howls pasts his windows, with the trees swaying loudly.

It doesn’t help him sleep, and he tries everything to sleep but he doesn’t seem to succeed; he tosses and turns in his bed, and it causes the bed the creak and shift.

He’s facing the wall now due to his attempts at trying to fall into sleep, and the feeling of tiredness finally takes over him with his eyelids forcing to close.

Finally, he can get some rest.

But he hears something.

His closet door slowly creaks open behind his back, and Sunghoon refuses to look over. Instead, he pulls the cover over his head and tries to ignore it.

He’s wide awake now, and he’s scared and afraid.

Consciously, he thinks it’s a monster in his closet, like the ordinary 7 year old would think it would be. His eyes are shut tight, and his breathing becomes faster under his breath.

Tears roll down his face as the closet door continues to open, he thinks the monster is going to come and get him, his only safe place being under the duvet, and he begs whatever the thing is opening the door doesn’t look under.

Finally, the door stops creaking, but it only means that the door is fully wide open.

In a second, his blanket is ripped away from him, his body exposed and is now vulnerable and cold.

It scares Sunghoon more and he lets out a scared cry, which is soon muffled by a large hand covering his mouth that pulls his face to force him to look at whatever is grabbing him.

It’s a guy with long hair and bright red eyes. Sunghoon thinks it’s his father, but no chance his father would do this to him. So he looks closer and , finally, he sees it.

Fangs.

Sharp long fangs which are peaking through the older male’s lips, which are grinning.

“Huh, you don’t look like you have enough meat on you, boy. Say, you know anyone else that has more flesh than you?” The guy’s voice is rough and deep. Sunghoon doesn’t know whether it’s a compliment or not, but he still answers.

“T-they’re i-in the o-other- ..r-room-“

“Speak properly you little shit!”

Sunghoon cries as the grip on his face soon strengthens.

“They’re in the other room! The rooms next to mine!” He manages to answer, his small tiny hands wrapped around the large wrists of the man.

The man laughs as he looks down on him. “Oh you have no mercy for your own family do you? Thanks kid.” And he takes off, leaving the room to take a left.

Sunghoon places a hand on his cheek where it bruises from the rough handling, dried tears stain the purplish marks.

He freezes.

He can hear screaming from his mother’s room, and roughly, a cry for help. Sunghoon jumps up from his bed, pushing his door open to run to his mum’s room, tripping as he does so.

He holds the handle and turns and twists it, but it’s not budging.

It’s locked.

He’s scared, is his mother hurt? He starts banging on the door and he cries: “Open the door! Please, sir! Stop hurting my Mum!” His lip is quivering now, tears already falling and he’s now scared for his mother.

He sees a figure from the corner of his eyes, and sees that someone else is about to go into his sister’s room, their hand wrapped around the door’s knob.

“No!” He runs forward to grab the person’s forearm, desperately trying to stop them. The figure turns around and just stares at Sunghoon, who grasps on their arm with snot and tears staining his face.

“Don’t hurt my sister!” He yanks and pulls on their arm, but it does nothing.

The door opens, the two still their movements, and Yeji is standing there at the door way. She’s barely awake, and she rubs her eyes innocently, not knowing the situation her family’s in.

“Sunghoon, what’s going on?” She mumbles quietly.

The figure yanks their arm away from Sunghoon , only to wrap their own around Yeji’s shoulder, his attention fixated on her, especially her neck. She surprised, and she doesn’t like the sudden contact, trying to pull away, but nothing works. She’s struggles to pull back, letting out a cry.

Sunghoon lunges forward to pull the stranger away from his younger sister, crying and begging them not to hurt them. But, he’s suddenly pulled back by another stranger who is locking their hands around Sunghoon’s upper arms, and it holds him in place.

He tries to run away, but doesn’t have enough core strength too-

There’s a pause.

It’s not quiet nor silent, but in front of him, he sees the stranger he tried to stop desperately from getting his sister, rip a chunk of flesh from her neck. And she’s screaming and crying, she’s in pain.

“S-Sunghoon!” Her voice is high as she begs for her brother to help her, and he’s trying desperately to do so, but he can’t.

She looks at her brother,“Sunghoon- I-it hurts!” And it really does. Blood is oozing out of her exposed insides, it’s gory and gross.

“Yeji!” He shouts back, and all of this is too much for him. He is legs are weak, and they bend.

A blood curdling scream is heard, and then a thud.

Sunghoon looks up, and it’s his younger sister on the floor now, eyes are just widened, but they don’t blink. The figure is kneeling above her body, sucking her blood, which pools under her unmoving corpse.

She’s dead.

His mother’s door finally opens too, and falling onto the floor is his mother, and she’s in the same state as Yeji is, her eyes staring straight at him, dead in the eyes.

Sunghoon burst out crying now, and he’s scared he’s next. His tears drop on to the floor, and it makes a huge mess underneath him.

The figure behind him comes closer to him, and whispers to him: “Shh, don’t cry boy, you gave us a good meal. We’ll take care of you now.”

Last thing heard is his own scream, feeling two sets of sharp canines sinking into his neck.

-

Sunghoon let’s out a sob he didn’t know he had held. His eyes a shut tight, letting tears are finally going down his crying face, which is covered by smudged tears and snot. His tears drop onto his baggy pants, and he notices a large mess of it, like he’s been crying for a while now and he hasn’t even noticed. He’s also shaking, he doesn’t like it. But it’s uncontrollable.

He hears another ‘ding’ pop from his phone, and he looks down at it, sniffing his nose before wiping his tears across his arm, which makes more space for another round of crying to start.

He reads his notification:

Niki: why would you sacrifice your sister and your mother first?

Sunghoon’s not only overwhelmed by the memory, but he’s now pissed. He knows damn well Niki is saying this to take the piss, like it’s a bloody joke.

Sunghoon

Chapter Text

Once again, he’s back at the club.

But it’s pouring cats and dogs right now, and Sunghoon’s completely soaking.

But thankfully he brung an umbrella from a nearby mini shop who a nice young man offered him one, and Sunghoon gratefully thanked the gentleman.

So far, his hair has dried up, but not fully. Little droplets of water drop from his mid-dried locks from time to time. But as for his clothes - they are completely wet, and it was really uncomfortable for him to walk in. Not only was he wet, but he was cold, as the way he took a sigh whilst he walked, fog would come out from his mouth, which makes sense as the autumn days were now over as we transitioned to winter season.

Stepping in with drenched shoes and a shivering body, Sunghoon arrived at last. He let out a shaky breath out from the air’s coldness before moving, his steps slow as he walked down the stair case.

Sunghoon expects to meet Jay when he finally crosses paths with the front desk, but is taken back as he didn’t see the other vampire in sight.

Is he in the ring watching?

He wonders as he looks around, but immediately shakes his head.

He never watches the matches though.

He doesn’t have enough time to think any longer, or he’ll be late for his shift.

He opens the door and walks towards his clinic room and his hand reaches to grab the metal knob, but he is abruptly stopped by a large strong hand wrapped around his delicate wrist. He turns around as sees that it’s one of the boxer’s coaches.

“Hey kid, you look drenched, and it’s getting really cold these days, are you not freezing, you’ll get sick!” The coach exclaimed, he brung his hand towards Sunghoon’s forehead, checking it’s temperature.

He’s taken back by the sudden gesture. He laughs it off and backs away. “Oh-h I’m fine, please don’t worry sir-“

“Please, please, I insist you take some off my trainee’s clothes. We always bring spares just for these situations.” The coach speaks before he can, and Sunghoon gives it another go.

“Thank you for the offer, but I’m really fine-“

“You’re going to get sick young man! Please I insist!”

Sunghoon closes his eyes and sighs, he gives up, and gives a little nod to the man. “Ok sir, if you insist.”

The older man smiles as he finally accepts his demanded offering. “Okay! Stay here and do not move.” He looks Sunghoon dead in the eyes before turning his back swiftly to run off into the crowd of people who surround the ring.

Sunghoon takes his phone out of his pocket, and goes to Jay’s contact.

Sunghoon
yo bro
you missing work?

Sunghoon
broooooo pick up your texts fuck ball

Sunghoon
jayyyyyyyy pick up the damn texts

He lets out an annoyed ‘tsk’, his thick eyebrows scrunched up as he shoves the phone back in his pocket before crossing his arms around his chest, his face in the direction of where the man had ran off too.

He waits for a while, before slowly day dreaming about random things then, out of nowhere, what happened the day before.

Something about Niki and his shared kiss stayed active in his mind, his smooth thick lips placed Sunghoon in an unescapable trance that he had always broke free of (barely).

But the way their tongues moved around each others, any the way Niki’s one explored the caverns of his mouth, leaving a trace of his taste mixed with lust and desire to start lingering in Sunghoon’s mouth always made him have rosy cheeks.

He specifically remembers how the younger’s tongue traces every detail inside of his mouth, feeling every teeth of his, feeling his pointy and sharp canines, and how he shared his own blood willingly for him to drink from

Sunghoon’s back to reality, and the heat crawls up his neck and to his cheeks, making them look red. He mentally slaps himself in the head and tells himself numerous times not to think about Niki.

He’s a bastard, never fall in love with the things he does.

He’s fucked us in the head, I shouldn’t like him for that.

He breathes out slowly, his eyes shut to become more calmer. The memories soon faded away, they aren’t important at the moment, he needs to focus on his job being a doctor.

His eyes reopen as he can hear the faint sound of rushed footsteps coming his way, barely muffled from the screams of people in the nearby crowd. His attentions follow the cause of the footsteps, and it’s the coach running back to him with spare clothes.

His running becomes slower as he approached the vampire, and he eventually came to a halt. His breathing was heavy and slow as he panted, he hunched over to place his hands on his knees to balance himself from falling.

“H-here young man, take these.” He manages to say out loud, his words fitting in with his loud pants. His hand reached out the folded up clothes to Sunghoon, who gladly took it.

“Thank you, sir.” He bows low in respect before turning to open his clinic door. He places the clothes somewhere on the counter and his bag on the same chair he usually places it.

He turns to lock the clinic door so no creeps or accidental visitors could come in whilst he changed.

He slid off his jacket and then his shirt, which were all soaking wet from the rain, and it left him half naked; shirtless.

He reaches out his free hand to grab the shirt from the pile he was given, and taps on the surface of the counter, but he doesn’t feel any clothe like material. Sunghoon whips his head around and he is stunned - the pile of golden clothes was gone.

He crouches to open the cabinets under the counter, but there’s nothing.

He checks under the sink cabinet, but there’s nothing.

He even unlocks the door and looks out around to see if he mistakenly forgot to bring the clothes inside with him, or if he placed them on a near by seat near the entrance of the clinic; but there’s nothing.

He stops peaking outside and closes the door, locking it as he does. He remembers receiving clothes and holding them in his hand, and he definitely remembers that he brung it inside with him. There is no chance that it could go missing-

“You looking for this?” A low, slow and steady voice is heard clear right next to his ear, and it sends shivers down the vampire’s neck and all the way down his spine.

He turns around as fast as he can and sees a tall, nice built figure and it kind of resembles..Niki?

He looks up at the male’s face.

And indeed it was Niki.

Sunghoon is mad. And he swiftly reaches up at the collar of Niki’s shirt, his grip on it quickly tightens as he harshly yanks it down, forcing the younger to be at eye level with him, with his back slightly hunched over.

Niki lets out a surprised choked sound as his neck is pulled down all of a sudden, it surely caught him off guard.

His hands immediately wrap around the hand which is linked with his collar, and he tries to undo the grip on it, but it’s so strong, it actually surprises him.

“H-hyung, would you mind?-”

Who the ever loving fuck told you it?” Sunghoon growls, his voice sharp. He looks Niki straight in the eyes and Niki watches his irises turn from a soft, chocolate brown to a violent, blood red colour.

He doesn’t want to admit it, but there may be a chance he is slightly taken back and is scared for once, but his mind goes back to the subject - “Who told you it?”. And he laughs a bit.

“Ohh, we’re still on that?” He grins as he looks at Sunghoon’s angered face, which practically is about to become red if he angers him any more.

The vampire huffs as he roughly yanks Niki unannounced, which forces out a quiet but pained grunt from the younger.

“Agh! At least tell me when you’re gonna yank on it!” He exclaims, but Sunghoon is not falling for any hilarious jokes anymore, he’s pissed.

“Don’t fucking change the subject! Who told you it?” He leans in closer to the human in front of him, his eyebrows bunched up.

Niki snickers quietly to himself. “You know, you’re quite hot when you’re mad.” He smirks as he brings his hand up to tuck in a hair strand behind Sunghoon’s ear.

“I like it.”

Slap.

The impact with Sunghoon’s palm colliding with Niki’s cheek echoes through the room, and both become a soft shade of red, plus, there’s a stinging sensation that can be felt for both of them.

Niki’s face is slapped to the right, and his face is all serious now; his gaze is now focus, his expression show no emotion at all, and his breathing is slow and deliberate.

He slowly turns his head to look at Sunghoon, and he doesn’t admit it but it frightens him. Actually, not frighten, but creeps him out since Niki looks like he is about to devour him.

He frowns, eyebrows scrunched up in a way that showed he was confused, but still pretty mad.

“You gonna tell me or not?” He lightly shook the collar, causing Niki’s quiet body to shake as well, bobbing it back and forth.

He doesn’t say anything, but just stands still and mute in an unsettling and uncomfortable way it freaks Sunghoon out, and it makes the atmosphere around the two either still or tense.

Sunghoon looks around the room, and then back on Niki’s figure, who still stares deeply into his soul.

He’s confused.

He jolts back a bit when Niki’s body is suddenly active, but there is still a lingering sense of tension between the two men. The taller pulls back as he begins to stand up straight, his gaze slowly shifts downward on Sunghoon, partially because of their height difference.

He leans his body closer to his, their chests almost touching each other, and Sunghoon is eye level with his nose which is insanely close to him, almost making contact.

He looks up to the taller, and looks him in the eyes, and the other leans in, his nose near his neck.

“I could have you beaten right here, on the spot,” he whispers, his hot breath tickling his skin.

Sunghoon finds, well thinks, he’s in a vulnerable spot, and places a foot back to take a step away, but he is unable to do so when he feels a stinging grip on his hair, which forces him to look up, his head forced to look at the ceiling.

The heat from Niki’s breath is now insanely close now, too close for Sunghoon’s approval, and like a reflex, his hands on either side of Niki’s strong shoulders.

He lets out a little whimper, which stays stuck at his throat as the grip on his locks stings more, his neck forced more to the point when ever he gulped, his adam’s apple became more defined as it bobbed up and down.

“If you ever slap me again, you’ll suffer the consequences,” he leans nearer to the ear.

“For example, I could touch you like this,” he feels that annoying grin show on his face.

He yelps out loud when two large hands are immediately placed onto his forgotten, but now remembered, unclothed chest. They land near his pecks, and he struggles to push the younger away.

He grips onto the large wrists, and yank them away, before stepping a few steps away, not wanting contact from the other.

“Haha, look at yourself, your fucking scared! What happened to Mr.Tough guy over here? Huh?” He laughs at his panicked face, which swiftly turns into that original raged expression.

“You’re sick, you know? You’re sick, in that fucked head!” He shouts, his voice loud. He grew angrier as Niki laughs, making mockery out of his own rage.

“Hmm, you’re fucking funny hyung. Oh! What was the question you asked me? Uhhh oh yeah, who told me? Anyways,” he coughed as he sat down.

It was unexpected to see him suddenly go back to the topic but he wanted answers, presumably now, so he got real comfortable and leaned on a nearby table, his stare focusing on Niki, who sat at the table he leaned against.

“So it was Jay hyung,” He said out aloud.

Sunghoon’s eyes widened.

He knows Jay?

“Want me to explain the whole thing, right? Alright then,” he knew Sunghoon would say yes, so it felt kind of stupid to ask, but either way, he answered his question.

“Me and Jay were really good friends, we grew up together practically as we were kids. We went to the same elementary, same high school, same college and what not. We both relied on each other most of the time,” he shared.

“Everything went great going forth, we were in most of each other’s classes, and we were best known in school.”

“Everything in our childhood life was great, and we were happy, but, ” the volume of his voice became quiet.

“On the 20th of April in 2009, his 7th birthday.” He breathed out. Sunghoon felt the atmosphere shift to something that he was not familiar with.

”It was the day his mother got abducted by a bunch of men. We didn’t know what they did to her, and we tried the best we could to find her, my parents filed the police as well as his dad did, but we got no info on her disappearance, and she was clarified as dead the next week. Jay got depressed after her ‘death”, which I can’t blame him for,” he sighed.

“He didn’t show up to school the following week, and barely messaged like he usually did, and his father informed my parents he was just scared, and said he won’t be in school for a few weeks, which turned into a few months.” He began to fidget with his fingers as Sunghoon crossed his arms, focused.

“Later in life, he slowly became more active, and on his 9th birthday, he invited me to a sleep over that day after his birthday party, so I stayed at his house for the night, obviously. Things went great, we ate, we watched plenty of movies together, played board games with his family, until when we slept.” His voice became deep as he spoke, it sounded natural.

“It was until dead midnight, and I was woken up to glass shattering somewhere near the bedroom we were in. I had also noticed Jay was missing from the bed, so being the average 6 year old I was, I searched for him, he wasn’t in the bathroom, and I knew his dad was in his own room asleep. I decided to look downstairs, and I found him in his back garden, climbing the fence, saying how he was going to go ‘find his mom’.”

“I wanted to also come with him but I was scared we’d get caught, but he insisted I go with him too. So, we made it to a nearby forest, and he gave me a flash light. He told me it would be faster if we searched for his mother separately and I said sure, but deep down,” his fingers pointed at his chest, indicating his heart.

“I was scared to go alone, but I never got the chance to protest. I ended up making some progress, maybe I walked for 3 miles or more, but yeah.” He paused.

“But I froze, for then I could hear him scream for help from afar.”

“I ran and ran for god knows how long, but it was so long, that it began to rain hard. Still, I ran through the rain, and I hoped and wished for him to be ok in the end, but those blood curdling crying never helped,” there was a silence following him.

Sunghoon’s stare was blank ahead as he imagined the younger’s point of view, but his attention turned to the other. He noticed his gaze. He stared ahead, as if in a trance, but it was somewhat indescribable, yet it showed something dark.

“I eventually found him, though, not in the best state. I found him caged around his mother’s arms on the floor, and she what a firm grip on him to make sure he’d stay still.”

“But, I watched his mother sink her teeth into his skin.” He took a deep breath in.

“But, in the far distance, we’re people, and they definitely didn’t seem like a human. No, they seemed more like a vampire. It was just the way they stood as they watched Jay get caught by his mum.”

“But before I even knew it, they ran straight ahead and sank their own fang on Jay hyung’s skin. And I could’ve done something, but thank goodness his father came and banished the filthy monsters.”

Sunghoon’s gaze stayed latched on Niki. He saw how tan the younger was, and how plush his lips were; the way he listened to that calm, yet deep voice was soothing for him.

“Now, back onto your question.” Niki sat up all of a sudden, and it immediately tells Sunghoon to stand up as well.

“After a while, when Jay finally got comfortable with me knowing that he’s a vampire, he told me that every night, after his transformation, he’d always see a boy in his dreams, the same exact boy in every dream. And that boy was either crying, or laughing.”

“But it eventually stopped after he met someone who worked at the same place as him, someone who was you Sunghoon.”

His eyebrows turn into a frown as he placed his bare hands on his hips.

“After becoming somewhat ‘friends’ with him, the same re-appearing dream finally changed. He saw the boy crying again, but this time, he was fighting someone, it was a tall guy, who held another little girl hostage to take bites off her skin, before letting her flop on to the floor. Then, there was another guy behind him, and he too sunk his teeth into the young boy.”

His breathed hitched as he realised.

Jay dreamed about my childhood life?

“So, you’re telling me, that after Jay’s transitioning from a human to a vampire, he just suddenly had dreams about me?” Sunghoon asked rather confused.

“Pretty much.”

Oh.

They stay quiet from a few minutes in the room, filling it with nothing but awkwardness, only controlled breathing can be heard.

Sunghoon eyes trail at the younger, and he takes a closer look at Niki’s face, maybe too admire his features, but his gaze spots a reddish looking mark on his neck.

He looks closer, as realises it’s a bruise which has been concealed over with concealer. He doesn’t know it, but Niki can sense his gaze when he isn’t even noticing.

“Any who,” he spoke, and it makes Sunghoon’s attention switch from the mark to Niki.

“We made a deal yesterday, about you dating me,” he grins as he looks at him.

“Ugh, right,” he groans, slapping his hand onto his face to rub it stressfully. “What do you want to tell me?”

“You consented, correct?”

“Uhh, yeah?”

“Great! I just wanted to check if you remembered our little deal we had.” He smiled. He got up slowly and walked to Sunghoon, reaching a large veiny hand to pat the older’s head. The feeling is slightly moist, the hair not properly dried up from the rain.

“I’ll be going now,” he said, his hand sliding down to rest under Sunghoon’s chin. He looked up at the taller, dark brown, innocent looking boba eyes staring at fierce ones.

“I’ll meet you after the match, you get changed. You must be freezing,” he gives the vampire the clothes he had snatched away from earlier.

Sunghoon suddenly remembers; he’s half naked right now. So he takes it from him, before lifting his head back up to look at the other.

“Bye babe.” And with that, he walked off, opening the door before leaving.

Sunghoon stares at the door for a moment, then after, he shakes his head and puts the clothes on he was supposed to be in already, slipping the shirt past his neck.

But the phrase doesn’t leave his head.

Babe.

Chapter Text

Fucking finally.

Sunghoon lets out a loud groan and he leans his head back, leaning further into the seat. He had finally finished his work, having more patients than usual and it really tired the poor boy.

But on the other hand, it also means more blood for him to take home.

He has 8 blood bags in total that he can take back home, adding them to the 5 others in his mini fridge, he’d have 13 left. He can decide whether or not to take them. If he doesn’t, well that will simply mean he’d have a shortage of blood way quicker.

He comes to the conclusion that he should take 4 back home, savouring some inside the clinic in case he forgets to drink blood before work, so it’ll be an emergency blood bag.

He stuffs the other 4 into his work bag after placing the rest in the mini fridge below the sink, he has a struggle fitting the 4 in.

Creak.

His head swiftly lifts up and sees Niki opening the door, shutting it behind him as he enters the room.

He wears that same sly smirk, the one that easily ruins Sunghoon’s day, but yet, it creates something that bubbles in his stomach, kind of like the sensation when people say they got ‘butterflies’ in their stomach.

“You need help with that?” Niki points to his bag, noticing how he is in the middle of shoving blood bags in.

Sunghoon looks down abruptly and takes his hands away for the younger to help him with stuffing the bags.

“Oh, yeah, yes please.”

Niki comes closer, and Sunghoon moves back for him to create space. He doesn’t realise it but he attentively watches how Niki’s veins slightly show as he makes space for each bag, and the way his muscles flex a little makes it more, well, ‘interesting’ for Sunghoon to watch.

He blinks, and realises he’s been staring at Niki’s hands and arms longer than he should’ve been, and looks up at Niki, who has already caught him staring for a while now was grinning.

“You like what you see, babe?” His voice is flirty towards Sunghoon, and easily enough, it causes the vampire to heat up at his cheeks.

He frowns to himself and looks away, huffing.

“Can you stop with the names please?”

Niki pouts. “Aww, you didn’t like ‘babe’? What about ‘sweetheart’?”

Sunghoon groans in response. “Ugh, no.”

“‘My love’?”

“Stop it.”

“‘Cutie’?”

“Ew, god no.”

“‘Honey’?”

“No!”

“‘Sexy’?”

“I’d rather not be in this kind of conversation!” He can’t bring himself to look at Niki without looking even more flushed than before.

“What about ‘Hoon’? It’s cute.” He insists.

“Just shut up help me with the blood bags!” His voice progressively gets more louder as he yells. Deep down, he actually doesn’t mind the nickname, ‘hoon’, and he does agree that it’s kinda cute.

“You didn’t say no.” Niki looks at him mischievously.

“And I didn’t say yes- look, are you going to help me with the bags or not?” He turns to Niki impatiently, angered and pissed off, and Niki finds it hilarious.

“Okay, okay, I’ll help.” He chuckles as he carries on with helping Sunghoon with the blood bags, slowly but surely, he eventually manages to create enough room to fit all the bags into his bag.

“There you go baby, all of the bags fit.” Niki stands up straight, and places his hands on his hips proudly.

“I told you to stop with the names!- Is this all because I agreed to dating you?”

“Basically, yeah. We gotta make our relationship feel like a real one.” His hands land on the smaller, gently rocking his forwards and backwards lovingly, but the older doesn’t enjoy the skin contact.

He attempts to scramble away, but it only ends up with him being even closer to the boxer’s figure, and he gives up prying his way out off the other’s grip.

“By the way, have you seen Jay anywhere? I haven’t been able to find him today.” He asks as he looks up at the boxer.

“Hmm? Oh Jay? Yeah he didn’t come in today, he thought you’d be mad about me telling you about, you know, earlier.”

Sunghoon figures Jay has always been this childish, despise how hes the younger one in his and Jay’s relationship, but he finds Jay’s personality adorable. He slightly smiles to himself, but he doesn’t chuckle out loud.

“Ahh, okay.”

“Why’d you ask?”

He thinks: why did he ask?

“Uhh, you know when you told me earlier how he dreamed about my childhood, do you know why he dreamed about me?”

“Agh, that, I’m not fully sure. I’ve tried asking him about that but he doesn’t seem to know himself. Apparently that happens all the time whenever he meets new people and becomes friends with them.”

Sunghoon listens quietly, and whilst he does, his eyes trails back onto that little reddish bruise that rests permanently on Niki’s neck. There’s something that tells Sunghoon that the little bruise is not quite right.

His eyes go back to meet Niki’s, who looks down at him too.

“What was his dream when he became friends with you?”

Silence.

Niki stays quiet, and Sunghoon begins to think that whatever he had said was too invasive, too personal, and that he should’ve been more careful about what he said.

“L-look, you don’t have to tell me-“

“It’s.. it’s just a bruise from fighting. Nothing else.” All of a sudden, the voice he had heard earlier — joking and smug, heavily hinted with energy — was now serious and monotonous.

It seemed to catch Sunghoon off guard, but it didn’t show.

He coughs into a closed fist. “Uhm,” he starts, he feels awkward. “Was I being too.. invasive?”

“You weren’t, don’t worry.” Niki says in a flat tone. He picks up the bag and gives it to Sunghoon, who takes its gratefully.

Niki heads to the door, his back turned to be facing Sunghoon’s face, but he pauses right before opening it. He turns to the older, his face cold, an expression Sunghoon has never seen before.

His voice is low, and it sounds mumbled. “Goodnight, hyung.” He turns and walks through the door, clicking the door closed.

Well, that was weird.

Sunghoon’s stares ahead, unsure of what had just happened. He has never seen Niki act so unusual before, his normal behaviour being teasing and clingy, maybe annoying too, but never quiet or anything.

He doesn’t think anything of it, and he believes it has got to do something with puberty, he knows most teenagers would act like this.

He turns to grab his bag, ready to go home, but sees in the corner of his eye, another bag; it’s grey and black, dark and large - a bag he has never seen before.

He walks closer and inspects what’s inside - there’s clothes, a towel, a half drunken water bottle and two boxing gloves, with a slight scent of manly cologne he has always smelt before from a certain someone.

Its Niki’s bag.

Sunghoon figures Niki must of left it behind by accident, and grabs the bag with him and heads out of the boxing arena, and outside the club.

It’s still pouring, but it’s more of a sprinkle now. The nights moon glows in the dark with little lights of stars surrounding it, the sound of cars driving by with motorcycles roaring over passes them.

He walks quietly in the darkness, passing the streets, his hands tucked in comfy in his pockets, his shoes splashing into tiny puddles of water.

He looks around the area he is in and hopes he is in the correct neighbourhood; it’s sketchy and sends shivers down Sunghoon’s spine.

Plenty of houses have no lights on, and it has loads of alleyways, with the street lights flickering on and off, some fully turned off. Honestly, it looks like a place where you can easily get kidnapped to Sunghoon, and the thought makes him scrunch up his face a bit.

He hears a voice, a loud and angry one from one of the houses, and he decides to walk towards it to have a better hearing. So far, he understands nothing, just angry yells and shouting, but he hears another voice, it is quiet, low, and sounds somewhat in pain?

He hears the voice speak, and it sounds maybe weak. “I-I’m sorry, coach-nim.”

“You never listen to me! You were supposed to win that last match, but you didn’t, you useless piece of shit!”

Smack!

Sunghoon’s eyes widen as he slightly jolts from the sound. He can only interpret the noise as a loud hit, and he assumes it’s the sound of hitting someone, considering the pained groan he can hear follow after.

“O-ow! That hurts!” The cry sounds pained, like really pained, and Sunghoon has no choice but just to listen to it.

“You can’t do anything right! Ugh I can’t stand you -just go to your room!”

Rushed footsteps are heard going into another room, and soon become more quieter, unable to be heard.

He’s not sure about it, but he can hear soft sobs from the other side of the house. So far, he’s 95% sure whoever is in there is being abused by their coach, not sure what the reason is, but it’s bound to be something stupid.

He looks at the front door, and slightly hesitates to knock on the wooden door.

Knock.

Knock.

He steps back when he sees the door opening, the light inside glowing in front of him.

At the door is an old man who holds a cigarette in his mouth, which is covered by slight white hairs from his beard. His clothes are a mess, they’re dirty and slightly stained.

He wore this expression that made him seem bitchy, or someone with attitude, and Sunghoon felt an off putting energy straight after.

“Hmm? What do you want?”

The voice is raspy and puts him off. He stands up straight and replies:“I- umm, not sure if this is yours but yeah, someone left it.”

“Oh, yeah, um thank you. Say — who are you?” He raises an eyebrow.

“I’m Sunghoon. I work as a doctor at the same boxing arena you regularly come to.” It feels awkward now between them.

“The doctor?— Oh, you! Yeah, thanks for dropping this off for me boy.”

“Yeah no problem.”

The door clicks as it closes, and Sunghoon walks away, his shadow dark under the street light.

-

“Haah,” he flops on the bed once he gets home. He’s exhausted, his limbs feel stiff and tense, and he tries his best to relax them.

He goes on his phone and scrolls on Insta, he likes a bunch of reels, before getting a message from Niki.

Niki
hyung, have you seen my bag?

Sunghoon
yeah, you left it at my clinic and I was going to drop it at your place but I heard a bunch of noise there.

Sunghoon
I figured you were busy, but your coach, I think, took it just on time.

Niki
oh.

Niki
thanks hyung

He found it odd that Niki sent him such a dry message, and it gave off a strange vibe. He remembered what he had heard at ‘his’ house, and he’s 80% he was hearing Niki’s voice the whole entire time, but as he thought of it more, he thought he was losing his shit.

The room was quiet, just like its usual; it being dark in his bedroom, setting a calm and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for him.

His eye lids felt heavy. He puts his phone onto the white wooden table next to his bed, the light automatically turning itself off.

He shifts around his bed after, the cover keeping him warm and comfortable in the cold breeze. He stares at the ceiling for a while, completely still, just taking in what he had just heard at the houses. He thinks it’s a decent idea to check for any differences on Niki’s figures tomorrow, just like he did last time with that bruise Niki got from ‘boxing’.

I’ll figure it out tomorrow.
