When I was a child, I wanted to be a popular girl, but it never happened for me. I grew big and awkward too fast. I was heavier, stronger, and more of a tomboy than the other girls. I liked sports. But I also liked boys and I desperately wanted to go to a big school dance. Nobody ever asked.
That’s why I’m so thankful for Yelena’s friendship. We’re both deadly fighters, but we like to sit and watch trash television and drink martinis while we paint our toenails. A non-judgmental taste of sisterhood in my otherwise male dominated world.
