Chapter Text
To Evangeline Athanasia Katarina "Kitty" McDowell,
Greetings, and howdy!
We write this letter on behalf of an immortal who needs to join UQ Holder.
We were recommended to write this letter to you when we met you, incarnated inside the soul of Touta Konoe. We are gods, of a sort, from another universe, and we owe Touta Konoe dearly, for he saved us both.
At present, we are inside the body of a girl named Kirie Sakurame, and are controlling it to write this letter as she sleeps. We can not survive in this universe independently, and her unique power allowed her to provide a shelter to us; now, our hearts beat as one, though she is unaware of our presence.
Here, inside her soul, we plan to sleep, because we are tired, from the weight of our pasts and our sins. But in our sleep, we will dream without regret, and with hope for the future, because of Touta and UQ Holder. We owe him, and through him you, a debt we can never repay.
Please take care of Kirie. She has had a hard life, and does not yet fully understand her power. Our presence increases her soul's determination, and empowers her potential for magic, but we are too weak in this world to guide her - and we would not want to control her even if we could. For her sake, please come save her, before she falls into despair and madness. She will be a valuable member of UQ Holder, we are sure. And please, don't let Kirie panic and kill herself before you can explain things. She has a small knife tucked under her sleeve she could cut her own throat with, and a poison pill in her jacket pocket, and she will use them if she feels even slightly threatened.
One day we may decide to awaken again. Or not. Even if we never again leave Kirie, know that we think of ourselves as immortals and as Touta's comrades, and dear friends. Even if he is a huge idiot.
After all, it's because of him we know that the world is more than just kill, or be killed. It's because of him that we know...
Anyone can be saved.
Asriel and Chara Dreemurr, Gods of Determination
