Seto could admit he could be reckless at times.
It didn't matter; being reckless was what had gotten him and Mokuba out of the orphanage, with all its consequences.
He never threw himself into a situation without knowing the costs and benefits, and the benefits were always worth it.
Yuugi (no, Yami, at this point he could even admit that there were two, but only to himself) hadn't gotten the memo.

"Stop using your tricks, Pegasus," Yuugi said, this time harshly, "You just want Seto to become like you, so that the Eye can control him better. You won't succeed. Seto is not a monster."
Seto looked at him, confused. Why did he defend him? Did he really not see the twisted creature that Seto was?
Pegasus chuckled, "So much faith in Kaiba-boy. Be careful that it is not misplaced. See... if dear Kaiba is not really a monster... who knows what he will decide to do..."
Yuugi just looked at him, confidently. He was convinced that Seto would do the right thing. Where that trust came from, Seto had no idea.
However, he found himself wishing he deserved it. What a silly thought, who knows where it came from.
But that silly thought, coming from who knows where, from who knows when, gave him a minimum of lucidity, and he moved away from Pegasus.
"Take me to my brother," he said to Yuugi.
(Because of the Millennium Eye, Atem and Seto, at different times and in different lives, risked losing themselves to the darkness within them. And each time, they were each other's salvation.)

"Kaiba," Ishizu said again, approaching him. Seto walked away, refusing to be touched by her (or anyone for that matter). "What happened? What did you see?"
"Nothing," he lied with a straight face, his heart not stopping pounding. "I got distracted by all the nonsense you were saying."
She stared at him for a long, obnoxious minute. Then he said, "You remembered something. Something from the past. And yet, you refuse to believe."
"Magic doesn't exist."
"And yet, you continue to deal with it," the woman remarked with what he could only call a derisive smile. "You can't go on in denial forever, Kaiba. Not when your destiny is waiting for you."
"I don't believe in fate," he said confidently. "Go waste someone else's time. This does not concern me."
(In which Seto relives the most smut memories of the high priest and would rather pull out a tooth than admit that he has feelings for his rival.)

Sirens.
Those are for ambulances, Izuku dimly remembers. And police cars and fire trucks. Izuku always hopes it’s a fire truck, so he can go to the window and watch it zoom along the street below. He has one, in fact. A fire truck. It has a ladder you can move up and down. His mom got it for his birthday. It’s red and white, and the light on top flashes when you put the batteries in.
“Izuku! Where are you?”
Hands reach under him and turn him over. Big and gentle, lifting him off his back, into the air and out of the dirt. He’s folded against someone’s chest. They smell like cologne and smoke, heartbeat steady and slow against his ear. Slowly, Izuku blinks tears away and looks up. It’s a man. With half his face missing, so all that’s left is a smile. “Hello again,” he says and presses a kiss to Izuku’s hair.
Izuku, ears ringing and limbs weak, opens his mouth and screams.

Mama’s nice. But she’s nice in a way that makes Izuku want to be nice back, because she worries about him and gets sad when he cries. Hisashi’s nice seems like he’s always thinking about the best thing to do. He’s trying to get Izuku to like him, he thinks. Trying to be as good to him as possible so Izuku will think he’s a good dad. Mama wouldn’t like that. If she knew how many sweets Izuku’s had just this week, she’d drag him straight to the dentist.
This fic is unrefutably amazing. I was initially a bit bummed that neither of the universes involved in the dimension travel seemed to be the canon universe and that I didn’t get the sweet sweet dramatic irony of them encountering Hero! Izuku but I’m glad I persisted because oh boy is this fic wonderful. It presents such a creepy yet sad version of All for One who clearly is hurting but is still an unsettling creep through the masterfully crafted perspective of kid! Izuku. All for One is literally tearing apart the universe to get to them, willing to do whatever it takes. Baby Izuku is so adorable and well portrayed and the interactions that he has with the AU heroes are so interesting and bittersweet.

There were two situations where Ed woke up without his arm and leg. One: Winry was working on them overnmight and he was safe in his room at Granny Pinako's. Two: a sociopathic murderer had knocked him out and removed them.
Considering he had just been doused in ice cold water and was most definitely tied to a chair, he was pretty sure which of the two situations he had fallen into.
A fun crossover fic with a short but engaging storyline. Ed was a little genius bastard as is standard and the Avengers are his beleaguered babysitters. Had a good couple of pithy phraselets.

A fun functional outsider POV of the DOS universe from canon!Temari’s perspective. There were a couple of places where the dialogue felt stilted but otherwise good character interactions and writing. I’ve probably read this fic a good dozen times and it never gets old.

Reigning in his palpitating heart before Konoha finds itself a new Hokage, Madara deliberates the beautiful lines of Tobirama’s neck. Such delicate but strong lines, as if they were personally sculpted from clay by the Sage himself. How easy it would be to just sink his fingers into his supple skin and squeeze.
“Hashirama,” Madara begins with a grave expression, “I don’t think I’ve ever told you how indebted I am towards you for healing Izuna back in the war. I don’t think I’ll be able to express how grateful I am or the profound regard I have for you, and – Hashirama, put your hands down. This is not a genjutsu.”
Wary, Hashirama lets his hands fall with alarm. His eyes flicker across the room. “If you say so,‘Madara’.”
A hilarious dimension travel fic. It’s got the wildly AU Madara and Tobirama traveling to the canon universe so it’s necessarily a bit OOC but otherwise it has fantastic characterization all around. The MadaTobi is very blatant but it has incredibly amusing character dynamics. A fun romp of a fic.
