And there’s the crux of the issue, you realize. You press your forehead into Adrian’s, reaching around to grip the back of his neck, holding him tightly and reassuringly in place.
“Adrian Chase,” you tell him firmly, so he’ll remember this, “There is nobody I like more than you. There is nobody I will ever like more than you. Do you hear me?”
“Yes,” he agrees.
“Tell me you believe me, though,” you say, and he sighs, rolling his eyes behind his glasses and blowing a raspberry at you.

“On your phone, look it up,” Chris tells him. John sighs, but he does pick up his phone to look it up.
Or, he thought he was picking up his phone. Your phone, along with his and Adrian’s, were all laying together, and he lifted the wrong one.
For a moment, he just frowns, staring down at the lit screen. Then, he says, “This isn’t my phone.”
Your stomach drops.
