Summary
Stephen Strange leaned back in the comfortable armchair in his private room, the soft light from the table lamp shining on the book he had just snatched from Wong. A triumphant smile appeared on his face as he flipped through the ancient pages, smelling the scent of old paper mixed with a bit of magic hidden in each word.
But that smile soon disappeared when he stopped at a torn page. And like the Dormammu incident, he opened the Eye of Agamotto to restore the page.
This time no one stopped him, the torn piece of paper was recreated. But as soon as the complete page appeared, a powerful magical power burst from the book, spreading throughout the room.
The book fell to the floor with a heavy "thud". The green light from the magic extinguished, leaving the room empty. The wind from the window gently blew through, shaking the pages of the book.
The restored page opened, displaying ancient writing that automatically translated into modern language, reading:
“Companion.”
Just below the title was a note:
“When the time spell is activated, the caster will be sent back in time to accompany their destined companion.”

Tony’s soul mate is fucking stupid. This idiot used the name ‘Stephen Strange’ and ‘Dr. Strange’- both of which made sense- but then the final tattoo that liked to appear sometimes was fucking ‘Sorcerer Supreme’. He decided from the moment he saw that embarrassing name he was one hundred percent never, ever going to give two shits about his dumbass soul mate.
Stephen had rolled his eyes so hard when ‘Iron Man’ flitted across his arm for the first time. Well, the first time he could read it. But the other names were interesting too- namely Tony Stark.

Everyone assumed things started to fall apart during their Civil War, but Tony could tell dynamics were off way before then. It started after Ultron. Tony was trying to hold onto the pieces just as much as everyone else, but maybe the team didn't want to as much as they thought they did. Tony just hoped that Steve and everyone else would get over Ultron.
Then Tony found out about a certain Winter Soldier and December of 1991. Tony wasn't irrational. He'd give Steve a chance to confess, but there were a lot more things wrong with their team than secrets. It was time for Tony to realize that.
