"Eddie ran us this one-shot once," Dustin says, and Steve startles. He startles because he was just thinking about Eddie fucking Munson and how he stupidly wishes Eddie was alive, was here at this moment. Startles because Dustin’s voice is low but he speaks right at the respite between faraway booms, and it’s a bit like a lightning strike, splitting the silence in a flash.
"What’s a one-shot?" Steve asks.

Summary
Bumped to the lowest step on the social ladder after his fight with Billy, Steve gets roped in with the cheer team. What starts as a favor to help them out when one member breaks her leg in turn for protection from the brunt of the bullying, sets the universe on a different path.
He befriends Chrissy and grows as thick as thieves with her. Over the summer he adds Robin to his friends as well. Meanwhile Eddie seems to have taken an interest in the fallen king, but Steve can’t figure out quite yet why Eddie is talking with him. Flirting with him?
AKA a rewrite from after season 2 till after season 4 where Chrissy survives and Steve and Eddie get together that explores Steve's fall to the bottom of the social ladder and the what if he was gay and knew.

It’s been a long road getting here. Steve’s been pitching for the Cubs for three years, and Eddie’s been by his side through it all. They came up together in the minors and were lucky enough to both get snatched up by their dream team. The Dynamic Duo they’ve been called. Both young corn-fed Indiana boys, making it to the majors together, and working as the perfect pair. They’re completely in sync with each other. They have each other’s backs through thick and thin. Nobody works as well together as they do.
