Being stuck and tortured endlessly in prison for 3 (or was it 4?) months did have a toll on a human being. Dream was no exception. But it’s not like there’s anything he could do.
So after trying to revive Wilbur, he expected to see Ghostbur gone.
He didn’t expect to wake up in a different world where the Dream SMP was just roleplay for fans.
And in his place was another Dream who didn’t expect to see his own server come to life.

“Michelangelo?”
Mikey’s head snaps up like a rubber band, so fast it hurts his neck. His father is standing in the doorway, whole and unharmed and strong. He tilts his head, taking in the probably dumb way Mikey is just standing there staring up at him.
He’s alive. In this moment, in this memory, he’s alive. But just a minute ago he was dying, he was choking on blood and then he was gone, and no matter how many times Mikey cried for him he didn’t come back.
Mikey’s chest feels like it’s closing around all his squishy insides like a fist. It’s really hard to breathe in a way that isn’t just desperate gulping gasps for air, so he holds his breath. It’s a good and useful thing that aquatic turtles can do it for a long time.
“I thought you and your brothers had left already,” the rat says mildly.
“We did? I mean, uh, yeah, we did,” Mikey says. He watches Splinter’s expression tighten in tiny inscrutable ways, and knows he didn’t do a very good job of sounding normal. So he clears his throat and finds a lopsided smile and tries again. “I just had to come back for something.”

It happens fast. Luffy is by her side and then he isn't, the chains are shredded in his fist. His other hand is red and wet at the knuckles.
"Sabo," he says, hoarse. It wrecks his face, leaves him raw like his eyes are an honest wound.
The World Noble hits the ground, dead.
(When Luffy finds Sabo again, there is a collar around his brother's neck.)

He’s pinned on his front, his shell having taken most of the hit, Donnie can’t see much of the damage but there’s a thin line of red slick against his shoulder, a paper cut really. Nothing too noticeable. Nothing too frightening.
“Stay there,” Donnie tells him. Not the smartest choice of words, and Mikey must realise that too. He doesn’t make his usual remark that he’d usually poke him with, but he laughs, all air rushing out of him at once, his eyes sliding shut ever so slowly.
“Hey.” Donnie places a hand on his shoulder. He had a bruise forming around his wrist, a little puffy and swollen and suddenly now that he’s seeing it, he feels the pain creep in. A bad sprain, most likely. But he doesn’t let that falter him. He nudges his brother and watches as his eyelids flicker back open again.
“Hey,” he says again once he has half his attention now. “Don’t go to sleep. Stay awake, hm? I’m gonna try and call the others, okay? See if they can get us outta here.”

“Get lost, kid,” one of them snarls, flashing with teeth at him through the dimly lit alley. “This ain’t your fight.”
There’s the sound of bated breath, sucking in air desperately, and Mikey’s gaze slides away from the goons to the guy currently slumped over in a pile of split trash cans.
Mikey pulls his gaze back to the three guys. “Is it his?” He asks, feeling the corners of his mouth twitch.
The guy in the middle, a dragon tattoo crawling up the side of his neck, ink faded and blotchy almost, he grins manically.
“If he don’t turn out his pockets like we’ve asked, then sure it is.”
Mikey takes a step forward. A mugging in New York. Nothing new, but still. A fight was a fight, and it’d been some time since Mikey had found himself in slab dab in the middle of one.
“Then I guess that makes it my fight then.”

“It’s fine. Tommy always cries when he doesn’t get his way,” Wilbur shrugged dismissively. Well, Ghostbur guessed that he shrugged. He couldn’t see the man in limbo, but it sounded like a sorta shrug-ish tone, “He probably just discovered one of his cows wandered off or something.”
“I don’t think so,” Ghostbur objected, shaking his head. Sure, Wilbur could see through his eyes if he chose, but he didn’t peek through enough to know about the weird vacation that Tommy and Dream were on or the peculiar rituals they did. “Look,” he continued, gesturing to the fresh burns on Tommy’s legs and arms. The wounds were weeping; it looked like the young man hadn’t even bothered to try and bandage them. They looked like they hurt.
“I think he is in pain,” he murmured.

Izuku tries to hold it in. He digs his nails into his palms and bites down on his lip hard enough to bleed. Stares at the side of Kacchan’s face and maps out every beautiful feature to imprint on memory—the line of his jaw, the divot right below his lip, the deep red of his eyes. If he looks hard enough at all the good things he can forget about Kacchan leaving, he hopes.
But when the departure hall calls for his flight, something inside Izuku snaps and he utterly, utterly breaks.
Right then, the distance between New York and Musutafu—spanning over ten thousand kilometres—doesn't feel as far as the distance between their dreams.
Kacchan leaves to New York for two years. Their long distance relationship takes a toll on Izuku.
