Finally, the door creaks open. A figure looms in the doorway, blotting out the light from the lantern behind him. At first, the man is just a blur of white robes, but Wei Wuxian doesn’t need to see his face. That rigid posture can only belong to one person.
“Lan Zhan?”
Lan Zhan pauses for a moment with his hand lingering on the door, then steps inside and shuts the door behind him, closing them in darkness.
“They sent you?”Or Nie Huaisang invents Seven Minutes in Heaven. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are the first victims.

"I do." Lan Wangji looked absolutely tortured, staring at the cave wall. "So long as there's a heat source and your clothes are no longer soaking wet, you can put them back on."
Wei Wuxian made a face. "But I just got dry. I don't want to put damp pants back on."
"Wei Ying!"
"Alright, alright, fine! But just the pants."

"Ooh, this is fascinating." Wei Wuxian lifts his hand and—Heavens help him—Lan Wangji's hand follows. Because they're stuck. They're stuck. Their fingers are interlaced, and they can't pull them apart. "You know, I wasn't expecting this, but isn't it odd? It's obviously a curse, but so far, it's not harmful."
Oh, it is harmful, Lan Wangji thinks through a spinning head as he feels Wei Wuxian twist their hands this way and that, testing the limits of the curse. It is most certainly harmful.

A curse brings Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji together—literally.
(tl;dr a curse makes teen!wwx and teen!lwj hold hands. lwj, who is very much in denial about his feelings, tries his best not to panic and wwx decides that Operation: Make Lan Zhan My Best Friend is a GO. hilarity ensues)

At sixteen Wei Wuxian is—through some strange twist of fate, or a nick in the layer between parallel universes, who knows—out of the blue confronted with that one incense burner dream one night.
While his curious mind is left unable to stop poking at this new perspective on Lan Wangji, circumstances in the Cloud Recesses begin to change and Wei Wuxian is suddenly presented with life-altering opportunities.
Maybe Gusu isn’t so bad after all?
(Or alternatively: The fic where I get to give Wei Wuxian the academic scholarship he deserves while simultaneously getting him hitched early on.)

Right when he finishes signing his name on the last page, he hears someone call out, “Mo Xuanyu?”
The familiarity of the voice gives him a strange tingle in the ear, almost like a tickle, which then turns into a full-body shudder when he looks up to see the face of the speaker.
In a split-second decision, he swiftly removes the red ribbon in his hair and stuffs it deep inside his shorts pocket. Forcing his wide-open mouth shut, he raises his hand and tries to sound as unsuspicious as possible when he answers, “Yeah that’s me!”
Oh god this can’t be good. Of all the physical therapists he could have been sent to, it just had to be Lan fucking Zhan.
(Or, Wei Wuxian wakes up from a 13-year coma as Mo Xuanyu and is referred to his best friend Lan Wangji for physical therapy. Therapist-patient relationship gets a little ~unprofessional~)

It is a difficult time for Lan Wangji, who is used to the regimented lifestyle of the Cloud Recesses. He meets Wei Wuxian, who grabs him by the wrist to drag him to fun places, or to row boats down the lazy summer river, or to shoot kites. He grows closer to Jiang Wanyin and Jiang Yanli, and learns of their charms.Most of all, he learns about Wei Wuxian, who is thoughtful and bright and nothing like anyone else Lan Wangji has ever met before. He has a brilliant mind and a smile that rivals the sun, and Lan Wangji falls in love with him gradually, over bowls of too-spicy soup and lotus seeds.
