Ooo lord the betrayal... that cold shoulder is strong, I felt it. Rejection is the worst feeling person can feel, especially a teenager. This hurts even more now than we know canonically from season 3 that El and Max make such good friends and have amazing chemistry. Then again that’s what makes the anticipation even better now. I love slow burn soooo frriggin muchhhh. Also that bit about Max relating the feeling of waiting at school early in the morning to childhood, being the last kid being picked up by her dad *chefs kiss* brilliant and so heartbreaking. It truly conveys that underlying loneliness, that feeling of being different, and not in a “good way”. It’s just one of those feelings that hit you straight in the gut with how real it is. I love Max, I want good things for her. Great chapter.
AGH, again with the analysis, you’d do so well in one of my literature classes, I swear! I hope I can keep up with conveying all the ‘real’ feelings that I wanna put in this book here. I’m all for Max and El’s friendship too and I was missing it throughout the new season so I hope we get to see at least something in the last episodes, fingers crossed!
