Comment on Runaway Catwalker (ML Comic)

  1. Now that's a Nathalie I can appreciate ! Even if she seemed to enjoy hurting kids too much for my taste, I really hope she'll be more on Adrien's side in season 5, and finally come to understand the madness of what her and Gabriel did to accomplosh their goals as the serie goes on

    1. Yeah, Nathalie can get very focused on "I have to do this for Gabriel" and cross some major lines to do so, but she does legitimately care for Adrien too. My personal headcanon is that during the abandoned timeline seen in "Cat Blanc", if Nathalie hadn't been on the phone with Gabriel when she found out Adrien's identity (and thus had thought about it for more than two seconds), she wouldn't have told him who Chat Noir was, not unless it was necessary to protect him. The version of Nathalie in my comic has had this sort of wake-up call, but since she is focusing solely on how to toe the line so she doesn't have to hurt any of the Agrestes she cares about (which, ironically, will probably hurt them more), she won't seriously consider that the best path for everyone involved is to give up on Gabe and his plans once and for all.

      1. I remember someone saying that during the Chat Blanc Flashback, if Mayura wasn't by Hawkmoth's side when LAdybug and Cat Noir cornered him in his lair, it's probably because she disapproved of his plans to akumatize Adrien to achieve his ends. Although it is reassuring to see that Nathalie cares about Adrien's well-being more than his own father, she nevertheless remains in the image of her family name when Adrien and Gabriel are not concerned, Sancoeur = "Sans cœur" in french which means heartless

And you're right about Nathalie still being too focused on the Agreste wellbeing, Gabriel's included, to consider that "the best path for everyone involved is be to give up on Gabe and his plans once and for all." I believe the canonical version of Nathalie in season 5 will probably be in this same state of mind, because if she really seems to have broken her alliance with Gabriel and seems to want to keep contact with the Agrestes only for Adrien's sake, nothing is really preventing her from denouncing her former boss to Ladybug or the police at this point, and thus sparing innocent lives from more torment. That's why although I like the complexity of Nathalie's character, she's really not the kind of person I would apprecite --'
