Day 31: Trick or Treat
(Jack Sullivan x Quint Baker) (The Last Kids on Earth)
This is going to be the first ever Halloween party ever on Wakefield, Massachusetts…well, the first ever Halloween party ever on Wakefield, Massachusetts after the Apocalypse; but that wouldn’t stop Jack Sullivan and his friends to celebrate it; and considering the town is run by zombies and monsters (some more sentient than others), the mood was more accurate than ever, and the plan of the quartet was to bring a party that can be felt and heard all across town.
Earlier in the week, the group managed to salvage a DJ turntable station and speakers in the old mall; the plan is to set the community center for a Grave Rave that the sentient monster community could enjoy. June del Toro was checking snacks and decoration while Dirk Savage was outside, checking the area security. As for the team’s resident genius, Quint Baker was giving the final checks to the sound station, all the while dressed like Nikolai Tesla.
“Is the Grave Rave Station ready to go, Doctor T?” Quint 's ears managed to pick a familiar voice, as he turns around and sees Jack Sullivan, leaning on the wall in confidence and looking like a mighty knight from the RPGs that he loved to play.
“Ah yes, all looks optimal and ready for the party, if I say so myself.” Quint replied, all the while trying to to do an Austrian accent, earning some playful chuckles from the brunet boy as he approaches Quint.
“That’s good to know! I don’t know about you…” that’s where Jack puts his arm around the young professor “…but this is gonna be our greatest party yet!”
“Yeah…I guess.”
“You guess?” Jack raises an eyebrow, “But you seemed very excited about it…what’s going on?”
“…Jack, can I talk to you for a sec.”
“Sure.”
Quint took Jack and guided him outside of the field where the part will take place, on one of the hallways of the place.
“Something wrong?” Jack asked
“Jack, I can’t lie to you…I still feel that this is a terrible idea.” Quint replied, quivering a little
“What are you talking about? We’ve all agreed that we’ll do this halloween party.”
“I know, it’s just…I feel this is going to go belly up, I just know it”
“Relax, Quinster; it’s gonna be a good time! Just like we used to have before…you know” Jack said as he tried to calm down his brown-skinned friend, but Quint was still insecure, that made the brunet boy give a soft look to his friend.
“Look,I know that you’re scared that our party might get a little bit too loud and can attract some ‘uninvited guests’, but the reason we’re gonna do this party is unwind a bit, after all we go through, we have earned ourselves a moment of R.I.P: Relax, Interact and Par-tay!”
“Heh…OK, I’ll take your point.”
“And besides, you’re not gonna party alone…you’re gonna party with us! What’s better than that?”
“Well…since we’re on our own right now…” that’s when Quint goes on and holds onto Jack’s body into a nice warm hug.
“H-hey now…” Jack chuckled at the sudden display of affection from the black-skinned boy
“Sorry Jack, can’t help myself.” Quint replied, feeling a bit
“Nah, don’t sweat it…I really like it when you’re this cute with me.”
“Heheh, right, nothing wrong with some affectionate physical contact, especially if it is between two boy friends.” Quint replied as he was blushing.
“Yeah…nothing wrong with that…” Jack gives a sweet peck on the cheek to his best friend
“Heheh…Jack.” Quint pleaded innocently, but Jack wasn’t listening, he was happy nuzzling his best friend; it was a sweet moment between the two, but it was only until a couple a minutes before Quint’s alarm clock started sounding.
“Oh, I think we better bounce for the mic check and call on our host.” Quinn commented
“Don’t worry, the host is more than ready to bring the R.I.P! That stands for-” Jack boasted, before his friend interrupted him
“We get it, let’s go.”
And the two boys went on to join his other friends and the coming guests to the party as the night was about to start.
As Jack predicted, the Halloween night party went on smoothly and it was an all-around great time, Quint has to quietly thank his best friend for the small confidence boost and that point of assurance made that night special for him. As for Jack, he wouldn’t mind to get closer to his genius friend once the two have an alone moment on their treehouse base.
Truly, this was a Halloween night to remember.
