Summary
No, Bucky was all kinds of comfortable touching Sam; and Sam was all kinds of comfortable letting him. Sarah could not imagine any other scenario where the moody former assassin would take it upon himself to invade someone’s personal space and start yanking off their clothes. And she couldn’t imagine Sam just standing there taking it from anyone else.
That level of comfort with one another didn’t speak volumes, it damn well screeched it!

These two dumbasses, going around sharing a suitcase…and clothes…now Bucky had her dumb brother packing for his dumb ass. She noted Sam’s tight expression. Apparently he wasn’t so oblivious that he didn’t realize how this looked. That was progress at least.

As far as Sam was concerned, it was totally 100-freaking-percent Sarah’s fault. He blamed her completely. Would die on that hill, his last words an accusation volleyed her way if it ever came down to it. “It was you…you did this…” he’d gasp in the face of her unimpressed smirk, feet firmly planted on the wavy green grass of ‘I did nothing wrong. You started this shit.’
Not that he planned on it ever coming to that, planned for her or anyone else to find out the madness that had taken root in a head that was fairly level most days.
When it came down to it, Sam could be depended on to be thorough…thoughtful. To not resort to violence or the quick fix…to not unnecessarily complicate things. That he was even considering what he was considering…

Except this morning.
The foreign sensation of not freezing from the inside out tickled his eyelids open as the cozy feeling chased him to the here. The now. A muscled arm thrown over his chest, a firm thigh draped over his hips, surrounding him in security. Sam’s familiar scent enveloped him. Spicy, sweet and earthy, hints of honey, saffron, and the woods of Delacroix.
“Mmm…grah,” Sam jabbered against the curve of his shoulder, that glorious thigh flexing then tightening around Bucky’s prone body. Bucky tried not to react; he really did. But he felt rested, safe, and so wonderfully warm that his body had no choice but to immediately tense at the unfamiliarity of it all.

Every so often, one or both of them would do something so telling, Sarah didn’t know how they kept from acknowledging the truth. Sometimes she even wondered if they were secretly together and just messing with her for kicks. But then she remembered that Sam had zero poker face, and Bucky admired her too much to do her that way.
Which brought her back to the inevitable conclusion that they were both just really, really dumb.
This time it was Sam making things dicey. What else was new? It was almost always Sam throwing out some outlandish suggestion then looking at her all wide and doe-eyed like it wasn’t a gamechanger.

“This won’t make things weird, will it?” Bucky halted a breadth from his lips with that bit of babble; Sam damn near screeched. He wasn’t having it, not when the countdown was already down to five.
“Weirder than what? Weird is the foundation this entire relationship was built on.” Inside he could hear the celebratory shouts and cheers of a new year as he soldiered on. He yanked the front of Bucky’s shirt, pulling him flush against his chest. Set in his course. “We met when you jumped on the fucking roof of my car and ripped the steering wheel out. We turned to literal dust and somehow ended up fighting side by side five years later. Shit’s always gonna be weird for us. Aliens, hulks, now we got vampires in the mix? Just fucking kiss me all right?”
OR: Sam and Bucky are just friends. Right? Right?
