Summary
Alastor laid awake in bed, it was the night before the extermination, and he’d been planning the day for weeks now. He brought his hand to his neck, the weight of the invisible chains feeling nearly tangible. He was going to die tomorrow. His dealer had given him a choice, a new layer to his deal, and he couldn’t deny that it was a very good layer. His dealer had power of executive decisions with heaven, and had offered something that he couldn’t resist. His life for all of the hotel residents being spared extermination. If not, they would all die, and he would be spared and let go.
The mere thought made him feel sick.

Extermination day happens and Alastor has to make a choice.

Every single time all he could see was Charlie’s determined face as she fulfilled Alastor’s wishes and their deal.

Summary
Angel wasn’t nearly as good as Alastor’s job of recontextualizing and actually setting Charlie’s plans in motion as he had hoped, and the fact that he still had his job at the studio to think about didn’t help with that either. It probably didn’t help that most of Charlie’s recent plans were also rushed and involved a very very dead man.
Yeah, it definitely didn’t. And neither did the atmosphere of this stinking office, but Lucifer and Charlie both refused to so much as move anything, and Niffty went off on him the last time he turned an action figure thing to face another direction by accident while opening a drawer. In the back of his mind, he noted that Niffty had been pathologically cleaning everything about twice as intensely as she did before Alastor’s death.

Summary
Husk had searched the entirety of Alastor’s old room, even the creepy-ass murderer cabin he kept in his weird swampy pocket dimension thing. He couldn’t find anything at all, not even so much as a fucking will, and Husk knew, just fucking knew that he had to have one. Alastor must have had a plan going into that last extermination if his strange behavior beforehand said anything. Frustrated, he stormed out of the radio tower, having found nothing there either.
His tail swished against the floor, kicking up what very little dust was on the floor. He itched for a bottle that he didn’t have, not wanting to put up with his boss’ bullshit anymore, and his boss was dead for fuck’s sake! And he was still bothering Husk from beyond the double grave! Double grave! Husk growled and hated his past self for saying he’d stay sober while looking lest he miss something. Why was he even looking again anyway?

Summary
Alastor’s fall into oblivion was interrupted, and his chest tightened in anticipation and utter annoyance that it was. It was like he was suspended mid-fall, not like he hit something, but he was simply halted for a moment.
Then his chains were being completely splintered and he shot up off the ground with a sharp gasp and a hand to his neck.

Charlie was adjusting alright, it’d been a month and she’d gotten better about recognizing emotions and good ways of coping. For most of the time, she’d been caring for her dad, trying to get him out of his room when it got bad, trying to get him away from the grave site, trying to get him to eat, trying to get him to do… anything really regarding his hygiene. Right now, she was preening his feathers while he read another book.

Niffty, with help from Angel and the dreamcatcher, was beginning to sleep much better, but she was still stressed thin and couldn’t keep her mind off of bugs and cleaning messes, helping Angel in the kitchen, and making sure that Alastor’s rooms and near abandoned home were completely spotless. On occasion, she even checked the little cabin he had in his bayou room, making sure that it was clean of blood and any other nasties.

Summary
Alastor was getting dreadfully bored and, though he loathed to admit it, a bit… depressed. Day after day of watching his family ever since he tested the limits of his power and figured out that he could in fact do so was starting to wear him down, seeing them grieving was reminding him of his own grief and he found himself frustrated that he couldn’t so much as send a message to them to let them know that he was alive.
The day of his own funeral was the day he stopped watching, though. He was dead and buried in their eyes, none of them so much as holding out hope that he could possibly come back. Why would they?

Something very odd happened that made all of his hair stand on end like Vox was having a hissy fit nearby. Lucifer looked paralyzed with fear, his wings all puffing up as well. That was the only warning before his ears were ringing a little after the loud boom that echoed across the pentagram. One hand shot up to his head as he ran to Lucifer’s side in an attempt to ground him.

Angel had no idea how he’d been talked into this, but here he was, going to work with Alastor’s shadow attached to him. Never in a thousand years would he have believed anyone who told him that he’d be walking into work at the studio with the express purpose of an assisted murder on Valentino, but it was way too late for second thoughts now. He hesitated at the door, looking down at his shadow, which grew eyes and blinked at him before giving him a thumbs-up, much to his mild horror.

Summary
Vaggie would be the very first to tell someone that she didn’t know Alastor very well. Hell, all that she could (or would) tell someone about him if they asked was that he’s a good cook, he works at the hotel, and he’s a murderous, cannibalistic, psychopath who somehow scored the king of Hell himself. So it was a little startling and concerning when he went out and died for everyone, and then even more so when he came crashing back to Hell with crow characteristics.

She shook her head to clear the thought as she returned to pacing.

Lucifer could tell with no doubt in his mind that Alastor was getting both antsy and jumpy. He knew why; he wasn’t an idiot, but that didn’t mean that Lucifer was any less nervous and anticipatory about the very real problem breathing down their necks, and also the very important discussion with a very important component of said problem.
This wasn’t going to be easy for any of them, was it? Of course not, why in the seven rings of Hell would it be easy to talk about something so sensitive? Lucifer gritted his teeth together, rubbing his arms soothingly as he paced back and forth, barehooved on the carpet of Alastor’s room.
