Summary
He can’t just leave the body here. There’s no peace to be found in a place like this, and he’s not sure he wants to see it in the morning light. So as always, the responsibility falls to Tubbo.
He takes a deep breath. Wilbur was a citizen of L’Manberg, right? It’s the president’s responsibility to look after his people. Or it should be, at least.
Even if they were violent and angry and blew up their own nations. It’s still Tubbo’s job to take care of them.

Summary
When Tubbo was younger, he never understood why anyone would struggle with the trolley problem. They'd talk about it like there was no correct answer, when there so clearly was. Save one life, or save five. Even when he heard about the interpretation where that one life was a friend or family, his answer never changed. It was always just numbers, in the end. One life for five. Limit the collateral damage as much as possible.
But now that it's come down to this- Tommy for L'Manberg, his friend for a nation- he finally understands.
He wants to be Tommy’s friend here. He wants it so badly that it’s a physical pain in his chest. But he can’t be. Not right now. Not when he has an entire country to look after.

Summary
At this point, it's only a matter of time before Phil goes off to join Technoblade wherever he’s retired to.
Because that’s the thing, Tubbo thinks as the Butcher Army stands around a table. Phil has always favored Techno. Brutally honest, painfully consistent Technoblade. He says he hates the government, so of course he destroyed a nation. You can’t blame the rain for being wet. It’s just nature. Technoblade never betrayed L’Manberg, Phil believes, because he wasn’t there. Sure, he saw the explosions and the withers, but he wasn’t there for the cold nights in Pogtopia and fireworks in his lungs and for Tubbo physically forcing himself to look away from Techno’s hands- to stop waiting for them to tighten around the trigger of a rocket launcher he was not holding.
Tubbo doesn’t think he hates Technoblade. Phil is right- it was always going to end the way it did. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t scared. He understands Technoblade, and what it means to be loyal to an ideal; that is exactly why Tubbo is so afraid of him.

“Look, I know why Tubbo didn’t tell me he married you, but what happened to tradition, man? Ever planning on asking for his hand?”
“I thought…” Ranboo says slowly, eyebrows furrowed. “I thought it was the dad you had to ask for permission.”
Quackity raises an eyebrow. “Your point?”

Summary
Snowchester is going to be safe. L’Manberg was supposed to be safe, but he drove it into the ground because he couldn’t stand up for himself. He bent to Dream and wasn’t strong enough to kill Technoblade.
He won’t make that mistake again. This time, he is going to protect himself. He is going to protect Tommy, and Jack, and Michael when he comes home, and Quackity if he’ll let him. He’ll protect Ranboo, too, even if he keeps writing in his book. Even if he won’t tell Tubbo where he lives.
He just needs the strength to do it. He is going to build something here; he swore as much when he found this place. He is going to build something good, and he is going to build something with teeth.

Summary
L’Manberg would never have gotten as far as it did if they weren’t stubborn as all hell. They’ve never been good at knowing when to give in. That’s why he loved this place, once upon a time. That’s why he has to destroy it.
Because they’ll never give it up willingly, but goddamnit, he can at least force them to build something new. Something that hasn’t been tainted by Schlatt’s fingerprints or Wilbur’s own frantic scrawl across the pages.
So who can he trust to do that?

Summary
Purpled has always thought of himself as something akin to a crow; the ones that follow invading armies. The armies go to war, and after the battles are done, the crows descend upon the battlefield and take their pick from the remains.
Because Wilbur Soot and Tommy go to war, and Purpled stays behind and watches and is careful to only make a move when it benefits himself.

Summary
“Ranboo,” Tubbo asks, after about half an hour of leaning against each other on the couch in comfortable silence, Tubbo tucked into his side under his arm. “Do you reckon that we’re in love?”
Ranboo immediately splutters. “Do I- what?”
He feels more than sees Tubbo’s shrug. “I asked if we were in love.”
“Why are you asking this now?” Ranboo asks in turn.
“Tommy thinks we are,” Tubbo says.

Summary
It’s odd, Ranboo thinks, working so closely with someone that won’t admit they’re sick. It’s the worst kept secret in L’Manberg at this point: the bags under the president’s eyes, the pallor of his skin, the way his hands shake when he didn’t get enough sleep the night before. Everyone is aware of it, but no one seems willing to actually talk about it.
He wonders why that is. He wonders if it has something to do with the crater the nation was built on, or the dead men L’Manberg speak about like their names are curses. He wonders if maybe whatever made Tubbo sick can be cured. He wonders if maybe someone already told him these things and it all just slipped through his fingers like every other memory he forgets to write down.
“I was wondering if you know where Tubbo’s skin has gone?” Ghostbur asks, startling him from his thoughts.
Ranboo blinks, trying to wrap his head around the question. “His… skin? Do you mean his burns?”
“No,” Ghostbur shakes his head. “His skin.”

Summary
He’s amicably chatting with Ranboo when his watch beeps. “What’s that?” Ranboo asks.
“Five minute warning,” Tubbo says, glancing down at the timer.
Ranboo’s eyebrows knit together. “What happens when it runs out?”
“I don’t know,” Tubbo shrugs. “I guess we’ll find out.”
“You’re just going to let it run out? What if it’s counting to your death or something?” Ranboo’s voice is laced with concern. Ah, Tubbo thinks. It looks like Wilbur’s pet theory about the timer in the sky counting down to the end of the world is getting to him.
“It can’t be,” Tubbo says. “I’m already dead.”

Summary
Tubbo has work to do, he realizes. Work he can do as soon as Ranboo stops hovering and asking in tones too soft for Tubbo if he’s alright. He talks to Tubbo like he’s made of glass, like he’s about to shatter. And Tubbo supposes that would be alright for other people grieving dead best friends- gods know Niki probably needed someone like that after Wilbur died, but Tubbo isn’t Niki.
No, Tubbo’s made of sterling stuff. He doesn’t break like that. He doesn’t know how to; no one ever taught him how you’re meant to have a breakdown. So he just… doesn’t. Tubbo just isn’t meant for that kind of thing, and he’s better off for it. Because it means that when everyone else is busy grieving, he can keep busy and work on what matters: bringing whoever dragged Tommy kicking and screaming into this mess to justice.

Summary
The goddess that Karl seeks is a favorite of bards. She favors heroes and storytellers and artists. She’s the goddess of heroic exploits, of perfect timing, of narrative catharsis, and tragedies and happy endings alike. She’s prayed to both by those who want their stories told and the ones telling them.
She’s perfect. She likes an underdog story, Karl can tell. He’ll give her one for the ages when she notices him. He’s a storyteller himself, too! What’s not to favor about him? He’ll make her a story for the ages, he’s sure of it. All she has to do is give him her blessing so the rest of the world sits up and takes notice, too.

Summary
If anyone asks, Tubbo hacked his governor module entirely by accident. He was just curious, and an assignment was dragging on with nothing to do and he had to keep himself busy somehow, to make sure he didn’t get so bored he stopped watching his clients! He didn’t mean to hack it, he just… wanted to see how far he could push it. It’s not his fault it actually broke.
That’s what he’d say if anyone asked, at least. And if someone asks, then something has gone horribly, catastrophically wrong.

Summary
When he finally stumbles home, the first thing he does is drop the bag of Ranboo’s stuff by the door. It lands with a clatter. Usually Tubbo would wince, afraid of scaring Michael. But Michael isn’t here and Tubbo will have to remake his bed later tonight- he would be devastated to see all his toys tossed to the floor like that.
After that, Tubbo takes six steps into the living room. Puts Ranboo’s ring on the table beside the sofa. Takes a seventh step. Eighth. Ninth. Then, he sinks to his knees. He doesn’t cry, doesn’t scream, doesn’t tear anything apart. He just… he sits there, shivering, and clutching Ranboo’s book in a white-knuckled grip.

Summary
“Why are you here?” Technoblade asks. “I haven’t seen you around the server before.”
Grian merely tilts his head. “What makes you think this is your server?”
Tubbo’s head spins as he sits up. He should’ve taken it slower, he knows, he’ll have to check if his head is injured later, but first- “It’s not.”
Technoblade blinks down at him, not saying a word.
“It’s not our server,” Tubbo says, slower. “We’re somewhere else.”
“Oh, this is going to be interesting,” Grian breathes, with all the awe of a scientist on the brink of a discovery, or of an artist on the edge of a masterpiece.
