Summary
A young Caitlyn decides to go on an adventure on her own to the one place in the world her mother has ever restricted her from, Zaun, more commonly known as the Undercity. Caitlyn, distracted by the ever changing streets, ones that hummed with voices that whispered sharply and eyes that shot daggers at her obvious Piltie origins, gets lost. Though attempting to get to the outer edge of the city, Caitlyn ventured deeper into the city.
Sat in a city circle catching her breath, Caitlyn meets Vander, a kind but intimidatingly big man, who happened to be sweeping the steps of his bar, The Last Drop, and offers his help. Caitlyn, though fearful of the stranger, accepts and is soon sat at the bar, sipping lemonade from a straw and talking with Vander and his partner about their kids. When Vander learns that Caitlyn is the same age as his second oldest, he offers up a solution to Caitlyn’s problem. Their daughter Violet can help her home.
Caitlyn accepts and suddenly she meets Violet. She could not have looked more differently from what Caitlyn had imagined up in her mind, she looked almost like a boy. Caitlyn has never liked boys. But she wasn’t sure she’d like Violet either.
