It was in a place where the air was still fresh, well before man came to hold any true power… a land that still held magic and was full of life and ripe with secrets. Humans lived alongside many other creatures, evil and good. // The tower rose up from a great tree… a Rowan, a tree known to have strong magic. The tree was said to have been blessed to protect the tower and with it the tower was named the ‘Nematon’. It was the Beacon from which the small village got its name… Beacon on the Hill, and as history carried on, Beacon Hills.
~I have no idea how to summarize the rest without sounding like a loon, but basically there will be knights and evil plots, and general Lord of the Ring/The Hobbit-like elements.~ -

Summary
A Cinderella-esque AU. Bilbo, a lonely hobbit of the Shire in the valley outside Erebor, gets a job as a cook in the dwarf kingdom to pass the time and keep himself occupied after his mother’s death. One day he meets a regal dwarf, who he thinks is a thief and trespasser, and throws an apple at his head, never knowing he’s just assaulted the dwarven Prince. Thus begins the antagonistic and somewhat odd courtship of a hobbit and the next King of Erebor.

Summary
On patrol in Erebor’s northern reaches, Kili’s group is attacked by a fearsome clan of barbaric dwarves who live in the cold north. He is kept alive, barely, and taken north to be a slave of the clan. A golden-haired warrior, Fili, claims him. Trapped north of the mountains through the winter, Kili finds that he will have to rely on Fili for survival and protection amongst a cruel and hostile people. But the tribe’s Chieftain uses Kili as a pawn to get what he wants from Fili, threatening and harming the young prince. Fili, distraught by Kili’s suffering, must find a way to save him without bringing about both of their downfalls.
