Zahhak had always been a perfectionist. A meticulous planner, always outlining his plans with flawless execution. He knew to pay attention to even the most miniscule details. But there were some factors that Zahhak refused to be distracted by.
Ran was the most significant factor here. His presence was all-encompassing and a little suffocating. But he chose to ignore how Ran’s body, so muscular and decorated with scars, was flush against his own. He chose to ignore how Ran’s breath tickled his lips. And, of course, he chose to ignore just how close their lips were to each other. One wrong move, and the gap would be closed.
But none of those factors mattered. What mattered was finding an opening to slip out of this predicament.
(Or: Zahhak finally comes to terms with the emotions he's suppressed all these years.)
