Summary
At least the guy in Groundhog Day had a whole town to traipse through and twenty-four hours.
Clover's got decidedly less.
Or:
This is Clover's second, third, fourth, fifth Nonary Game, on and on with no end in sight. She can't help but end it with an axe in her hand. Until her brother is brought back from the dead, Clover has no interest in a life outside this game.

Summary
Clover Field is a professional who's been trained to handle a variety of stressful situations... but she's also REALLY stressed right now, so who can blame her if she were to decide to solve her problems in a more immediate way than she normally would?
This is, essentially, a Virtue's Last Reward Axe Ending AU that has since spiraled WILDLY out of control. I originally declared that I'd write an axe ending if VLR didn't have one, though this idea wildly spiraled out of control as I beat VLR. I then binged ZTD and just HAD to add it to the fic and, thus, Clover's VLR Axe AU!
MASSIVE thank you to Vampirebadger for both introducing me to Zero Escape in the first place and listening to my live reactions to the games, as well as talking this fic's plot through with me. Those chats have helped a ton in boosting my confidence writing these characters down and this wouldn't have been possible without them!

Summary
Instead, Light tried to imagine a different scenario: how exactly would he react if he thought Clover was dead?
...He would pry open the gates to hell, drag the bastard responsible down into the depths, and force them down into the fire, holding them to make sure they burnt. Such was the strength of his love, such would be the force of his rage.
Was he to imply that Clover loved him any less?

Summary
Santa and June went into one room. She followed Seven into the other.
“Alright,” he announced, giving the place a once-over. “Doesn’t look like there’s much here, so we should be able to make quick work of this.”
“Yes…” she replied quietly. “This’ll be over quickly enough.”

Summary
The first thing Clover Field felt when she woke up in the second Nonary Game was relief. The night before, she'd been invited to a party, and hadn't been able to come up with a sufficient excuse to ignore the it and spend her eighteenth birthday at home, alone. Waking up at an unknown time in an unknown location was better than having to spend a night attempting to socialize with her peers, pretend that they had the slightest bit in common, and conform to some standard of normalcy that she could never manage to get a grip on.
The second thing Clover Field thought, slowly recognizing the room around her―one from hazy childhood memories and vivid nightmares―was, Oh my fucking god, no, what the hell am I thinking?

"Listen to me, Clover. No matter what happens, you can never lose hope. You have to remember what's most important, and that's to have faith, and to have love. If you can remember all of those, that'll bring you good luck.”

The thing is, Clover isn’t stupid. She’s top of her Calculus class, planning on majoring in Biochemistry, too (or maybe poetry, or anthropology, or something hippie like that. She’s allowed to be nuanced.)
Or: there's a little girl in a cave with all the lights turned on.
