Zuko and Azula weren’t sure of the hurricane they just walked into. Mother was angry, her eyes hard and her lips thin. Father was smug, like he had won some great victory and expected applause. Grandfather looked torn between trying to calm Mother or applaud Father, though the look in his eye promised pain to whomever interrupted or talked back.
“Children,” Mother began, her voice on the edge and tense, “we have some news for you.”
Zuko, ever timid and unsure if this was a good time to speak, kept his mouth shut. Azula, ever overconfident in herself and arrogant, blurted out, “Did our fuddy-duddy uncle finally kick the bucket?”
“No, and don’t speak of your family that way, young lady.” Mother glared at Father. “It’s worse. Much worse.”
“You two might want to sit down,” Grandfather said, unusually kind to them. “It’s very serious, and it might impact the both of you.”
Zuko was sure that whatever the news was, he wasn’t going to like it.
OR
Julieta’s win in court means Ozai has to register as a sex offender. When the family learns this, things go downhill fast, with Ozai and Azula fighting against Ursa and Zuko, respectively, about the results.

Then, it had been constant calls and texts at all hours and constant attempts to get into the hospital to see her again.
Then, expensive gifts kept coming to her office, all accompanied with a stylized O on an embossed card.
All that she could handle. She could block numbers and emails, send the gifts back or throw out the flowers, and have security ban him from returning. She could even have Agustín come with her as insurance he wouldn’t try anything.
But propositioning her in front of her family, trying to kiss and grope her in front of Mirabel?
He’d gone too far. He was going to meet her in a court of law, and he would pay.

Summary
Disowned and branded by his father, at the age of 21, Ozai is stripped of his titles, his family and his nation and sent to the Southern Water Tribe to serve as a concubine at the newly appointed Chief Hakoda's side. Just when Ozai thought he could achieve his freedom away from Azulon's abusive control, and seize his life from this point on, his father had one final cruelty up his sleeve for his unbeloved son.
Inexperienced as he is, Chief Hakoda is surprised by the extended offer of a trade deal with the Fire Nation. The rather generous offer was accompanied by a gift. A concubine handpicked by Firelord Azulon, serving as a living symbol of their future alliance and the prosperity of both their nations. Unaware of the true identity of this man, Hakoda is simultaneously disturbed and surprised by the concept of keeping such a person at his side.
As he grows to know Ozai more, the truth of his presence in the south is revealed and the lines of trust are put to the test as the former Prince seeks the freedom he's craved away from his father for so many years. But with nobody to trust and no allies to lean on, Ozai faces the very cold reality that he may just die here as Azulon expected.

Summary
Cruelty does not come naturally to (most) people, we learn it somewhere. Azula is a great example of that. Iroh talked about his childhood with Ozai and Azulon, and everyone realizes just how messed up it is. Zuko, realizing just how fucked his uncles and fathers relationships with their parents had been, sets out to see if maybe, just maybe, he can save his father like they did Azula.
When Ozai is transferred to the Palace for, "Good Behavior," In the avatars words, all he can see is a golden cage. It doesn't help the avatar is older now, almost 18, and has grown even above himself and Zuko. But then he meets Hakoda. And learns that maybe life doesn't have to be just cruelty and Manipulation.
And in Hakoda's defense, he never expected to fall in love with the man he was trying to help rehabilitate. But thats just life for you.
