Before his eyes, Zhongli shattered into a million pieces of light.
It was blinding, and Childe covered his eyes in reflex. The light peeled away in layers, solidifying into three distinct figures.
One emerged broad-shouldered and frowning, with two horns atop his head that curled with amber tips; his very presence rattled the air. Gold kissed hands that looked more like claws, his white robes marked with dirt and ash.
Morax. The brutish God of War. From the beginning of Zhongli’s long life.
Another stepped out, with the same pair of horns as the other, clothed in regal finery, dark brown robes embroidered with threads of gold, similar to Zhongli’s current attire but far more elegant. His posture sharp, eyes cutting through the space immediately to Childe, lingering with an unnerving amusement.
Rex Lapis. The God of Commerce and Trade, the establisher of Liyue. A man for a taste of all things fine.
And in the centre, left kneeling and breathless, Zhongli himself—the man Childe knew—steadying his own balance, calm but pale.
→ In which, Zhongli is split into 3 versions of himself, and Childe is left to deal with the mess.

Scaramouche snorted, clearly seeing where this was going. He got rid of his own jacket, then of his hat while he spoke. “You believe yourself so smart to be capable of knowing what I think?”
“You keep speaking of me like I’m a lowly ranked officer,” Tartaglia answered, unbuttoning his uniform, “and not a soldier directly chosen by Her Majesty herself,” he tutted, and Scaramouche’s expression almost fell again.
Or, Scaramouche can't stand how loyal Childe is to the Tsaritsa, and thinks he would make a much better God for him to worship.
