For each day, I will note the challenge word(s) I included in the snippet (We were given a choice of three) - and if the snippet is from or related to something bigger.
I've labelled this 'chose not to use archive warnings' simply because two of the thirty snippets (Chapters 4 and 15) do involve major character death. None of the other snippets would require a major content warning.

On Lesuia I had weighed down on Kip with magic, inadvertently, to unfortunate effect. This time it was intentional. I needed to follow where the curse had gone, to cut it out by the roots and ensure that not a single stray thread remained. This meant looking through his eyes and gaining direct psychic access to his mind.
To save Cliopher's life, his Radiancy performs an emergency magical procedure. The consequences are both less and more far-reaching than anticipated.

It took me a few minutes after waking to realize that something was wrong.
At first I could not place what had woken me at all, head hazy enough with sleep that I could not place where or when I was. My mind bounced off the stillness and quiet of the air, ricocheted against the too-soft cushion beneath me, and pinged against the distant, muffled sounds of voices and eventually, helpfully, told me inn. Only after that did I place Kip’s breathing, and even then I thought, stupidly, foolishly, that he had only moved around a bit and woken me.

He had learned, later—not been told in as many words because the taná listens to more than words—that Eritanyr had asked for Uncle Lazo. More boy than man then but known as a rising taná. The priest-wizards had come West and demanded him, and Tovo had gone with them, refused to accept anything less because the taná always takes care of their people and his Buru had long been tana-tai.
(The priest-wizards ask for Gaudy, for precious newborn Gaudy, to raise into the image of an Emperor’s concubine. Like the tana-tai before him, Cliopher goes in his nephew’s stead.)
