Ever since they rescued Wolfgang from being kidnapped and tortured at the hands of Whispers, the cluster had been having nightmares.
Sun wasn't sure what gave it away first- the fact that every single time, she would wake up with clenched and shaking fists and a rage that burned so hotly in her chest that she had to breathe deeply and slowly to rid herself of it, or the tigers.

Wolfgang has ears tuned to hear the ting of a metal bullet casing kissing the asphalt as it falls. It's been a year since the Cluster came together, they've defeated Whispers and his people, cleared all their names and are finally able to start living their lives again. But first, it's their birthday, and that's the perfect excuse for them to all come together in person finally. There are friends and family to meet and a party to plan. And maybe a couple of guys find they have more in common than they originally thought.

When they finally find and rescue Wolfgang, when they go back to the safe house and the blockers wear off, it's like a piece of them has been put back into place. Like a limb that was cut off has been reattached, like a missing piece of their heart that made them feel so empty and hollow has now returned and they can feel whole again. The feeling is like they were broken and were now put together and they all let that relief consume them from head to toe, fill each of their pores, each cell in their body. They finally begin to breathe again, after what felt like years.

College AU: Set at the University of Chicago, where Kala is a pharmacy graduate student. She can’t seem to avoid Wolfgang, the new transfer student from Berlin. He struggles to escape his past and is reluctant to involve Kala in the darker aspects of his life. For Will, returning to being a cop would be easier if his cluster-mates weren't feeling guilty about how their efforts seemingly resulted in better circumstances for everyone but him. It's like they don't realize how knowing them has made him a better cop.

He doesn’t think the rest of the cluster is coming to save him. Doesn’t think they should, doesn’t think they can. He knows if it was any of the others he would be packing his bags and booking whatever flight was needed to protect them, to fight for them, to be their source of relief just as they have all been for him. They’re his family, after all. But he hopes they aren’t, for their own sake. He doesn’t think there’s a way out this time, any chance of salvation, and he’s trying, and admittedly failing, to come to terms with that grim, bitter truth. -
