    At the end of their adventure, the four heroes of the Four Sword must become one yet again. Unexpectedly, though their bodies became one, their minds remained separate. With sadness in their hearts over Shadow's sacrifice, they (primarily Vio) research ways to bring him back. They manage to bring him back, and they live a normal life together for awhile. That is until a portal brings them on another adventure with many other "Links" from across time.

    It was very concerning for the colors when suddenly, while walking with the chain, Shadow states, "something's wrong." before disappearing from their now shared body. It was even more concerning for the rest of the chain when Four collapsed to the ground a moment later, completely unresponsive.

    Where Shadow ended up though was definitely not what anyone could have expected. He appeared in a group of people who all claimed they were in a romantic relationship with a Link. Now, with no other known objectives, they have to search for the chain as they continue traveling through different portals across time.

    Everyone has their secrets, it’s just a matter of how well they’re kept. Some people hold onto their secrets like lifelines; others…try their best. Green has a lot of secrets to keep from his fellow heroes: from the existence of his brothers, to the shrinking abilities granted from Link’s first adventure, to the spiderweb of cracks that split his skin as they spread up his sword arm. However, as the adventure continues and he unwillingly gets folded into the mismatched family of heroes, those secrets might be a little more difficult to keep than he’d first anticipated. Especially as timelines get further intertwined, signs of a new powerful enemy begin to surface, and their understanding of magic itself is shaken to its core. With multiple eras thrown into chaos, and Green somehow stuck in the middle of it all, he might not be able to keep his secrets for as long as he’d like.

    This is a rewrite and reboot of my old story, Shattered Spirit. Some things will be similar, but most are wildly different and hopefully better. Feel free to read that one too if you feel so inclined, but this is different enough that there wont be a whole lot of major spoilers. Enjoy!

    Summary

    I wanted to do an in-depth character—and trauma—study, to explore the idea of a single hero for the Four Sword (Four from Jojo56830's Linked Universe AU is my fave because I love the Four Swords manga and Minish Cap) where his other selves aren't just arbitrary splits of his personality via the Four Sword's magic, but the result of a traumatized Link developing Dissociative Identity Disorder.
    So here are the stories of the Hero of Men, of Minish, of the Four Sword, and of Light.

    BTW, you don't need to have played the games to read, and I'm too gay to not ship the Colours. (Primary: Red/Blue, Vio/Shadow, Green/Zelda. Secondary: Everyone/Everyone.)

    [Note: Since Four Swords (the game with the second Hero of the Four Sword, who I like to call the Hero of Three Fairies for clarity) is mostly an oversized side-mode for aLttP's GBA port I'll reuse its story and dungeons for the sections of the series dedicated to the Hero of Men and the The Four-Who-Are-One—who have only been mentioned and do not have games—to poetically reduce the number of adventures from 5 to 4]
