Ikaruga wakes up temporarily blinded in a cave with a wounded Kaguya after they jump from a cliff into a river to escape a monster horde.
After sending a messenger shikigami for help, a little time passes. Then Ikaruga discovers just how bad her injuries are, and has to pray a rescue team will reach them in time… assuming his message made it to its destination.
Kai has to race to reach his injured Bondmate before she dies as the rest of their Bondmates fight their way to them.
But more than one of the other gods is possessed... and out for revenge.

Fubuki watched as Kaguya, the town's beloved Earth Dancer, came back to Winter Village injured with an unknown Mystic that had apparently fought her. Due to the fact that he is a government official, they have no choice but to let him stay, but what will that cause for Fubuki, the kindhearted God of winter and water, who is willing to give the newcomer a chance to integrate into his village?
AKA, basically just making Ikaruga have an actual introduction where people actually seem to care that he attacked the Earth Dancer, and he and Kaguya won't bond immediately, because realistically, they wouldn't.
So warning for arcs 1 and 2, and for Ikaruga and Fubuki's bonding events, because they basically do each other's events the way I think they would.

Something like a smile tugs at the corner of Ikaruga's lips. He quickly presses his mouth to his palm, obscuring it. "You truly consider us friends?" The statement is baffling.
"Yes," Fubuki insists, as if adorning him with such a fond title is a simple act, rather than a miscalculation that should immediately be reconsidered. "I don't only assist you because of my divine duties," his ears twitch, "It's...more than that."
Ikaruga is prideful of the fact that he is self-sufficient. He rejects the idea of people growing close to him. Caring about someone - it's too risky. It gives you a weak point, makes you soft. And that is something he cannot be.

Kai felt useless. He’s an idiot only good for kicking ass, and his is weaker than your average toddler. He can’t even lead his people. The Celestial Collapse already happened, the world’s gonna end, and he planned on drinking himself silly until it comes.
Both of them hide their deepest secrets from the world, and it kills them. Yuko finds herself terrified of everything, while Kai tries to drink himself to death. It’s hard to tell people they care about that they’re struggling, but it’s not so bad to tell the woman who kicks you out of the bar when you’re hammered.
Dangerous secrets lurk beneath. Danger wants to find them, and destroy them at every turn. It’s Yuko’s job to protect her friends, and Kai’s to face what made him such a drunk. Both of them grow, change, and learn that love is an equal exchange.Series
