Summary
Sirens have evolved alongside humans for centuries. They are perhaps the only species that has evolved specifically to prey upon humans. Just like humans, though, there are sirens that cannot function the way that nature intended.
Krory is one such siren, and his family's long line of disabilities has left them without the support that social creatures like sirens usually rely on. As a young adult he is the last of his family that is still around, and he cannot hunt for himself. This leads him to reside closer to humans than any abled siren normally would, and it leaves him in a unique position when he witnesses an act of human cruelty that nearly kills a man named Noise Marie. Rather than leaving an ill Krory to die, Noise's wife Miranda finds an unconventional solution to help him. She fills the bathtub with sea water, and drags an unconscious sea monster into it so she can nurse him back to health.

First, that Allen was a little shit and liked to tease and fight, which was extremely annoying but —though he was never going to admit it to him, it was fun.
Second, laughed and smiled a lot, sometimes more honestly than others, but he smiled, nonetheless. Kanda hated the fake ones, but he noticed they did not appear as often as they did when they met.
Third, he got too happy by stupid things. Like a bird on the rooftop or clouds with weird forms in the sky, he would also get excited by certain things in his food, his face lighting up in a smile.
It was... nice to see. Cute.
Yes, that's what he was. He was cute. Annoying, but cute.

He freezes mid-step. Turns slowly, as if trapped in molasses.
"Hah?" It's the only word his mouth will form. Allen opens his mouth, looking as lost as Kanda feels and then closes it. There's despair trapped in his silver eyes, fear that tastes like ashes on Kanda's tongue.
"I'll be off. Thanks for coming after me."
His smile is warm but brittle like shattered glass. Kanda sees the way his lips tremble from the effort of keeping it on his face.
One day, we'll come home to the Order together.
But this feels like a final goodbye. Kanda hates it.
Something feels like it dies in his chest when Allen turns away from him.
