This is a story that takes place a little over two years since Dallas and Max went through the portal.
In Roswell, Michael and Alex are happily married, and so are Isobel and Kyle. Rosa moved back to town with her "friend" Heath. Maria and Bonnie have become business partners and Liz has her own lab at Deep Sky. Actually, she, Michael, AND Kyle have their own little workspace at the facility.
Things start with a terrible loss but then, maybe, things might not be as lost as they seem.
This is how Michael and Alex found they way back to each other yet again, but not only that, found something else much deeper along the way.

Ever After AU - based on the 1998 movie
Prince Michael is set to be wed to a noblewoman, an arrangement made by his late father. He can't stand the idea and so one night he rebels, running from the castle on horseback.
Alex is all but a prisoner in his father's house, forced to work and wait on the man and his brothers to earn his keep. When he stumbles into some money he uses it to take to court and try to buy back one of the other servants and does so by impersonating a noble.
While in court, he speaks out of turn and Prince Michael sees him, letting him plead his case and becoming instantly intrigued by the sharp-witted stranger.
All Alex wants is to get back, but Michael is persistent, and somehow Alex manages to call him arrogant, which only spurs his interest on. But Alex can't give Michael his name when he asks, because then he would know that he was a fraud, as Jesse Manes is someone known to the monarchy.
So Alex gives him a false identity and leaves Michael to dwell on thoughts of him, thinking he would never need to see him again.
Only, fate seemed to have other plans. -

The next installment of "The Red Crayon," an AU where Michael got adopted instead of Max. Michael's name is Max and Max's name is Michael. This is Part 4 of the series which focuses on the events of Season 3. Officer Max Evans is in love with Alex and cowboy Michael is in love with Liz. Events unfold differently from there. (Each chapter title is based on a song from my Malex TSwift playlist.)
In RNM 2x09, we learned from the Sheriff that in the group home, young Max was screaming and drawing all over the walls with a red crayon. Michael tried to calm him down and took the crayon from him. Then, the Evans' came in and saw Michael, assumed he was disturbed and so they adopted Max and Isobel. This is an AU- Canon Divergent- where Michael never takes the red crayon and instead, HE gets adopted. Their personalities and powers are the same, but their names and life experiences are different.
