Satou Matsuzaka—a girl hiding violence behind perfection—and Mitsuboshi Tayou—a boy haunted by temptation and fear—both cross paths with the small, quiet child on the same day. Their mutual distrust keeps each other in check, yet neither is willing to walk away. Their lives become intertwined by necessity and denial, bound by a child neither of them deserves, yet neither can let go.
As they awkwardly become caretakers, their rivalry simmers beneath the surface, masked by forced civility in front of Shio. Slowly, they build a fragile home. With the help of Satou’s friend Shouko and Shio’s brother Asahi, who eventually reenters her life, the group begins to resemble something like a family—even as secrets threaten to unravel everything. They form a dangerous balance, pretending peace in front of the child they both guard but loathe each other in secret.

Shio was then struck with the sudden idea of informing Satou about the door. As soon as she does, she’ll lock the door and sit back inside. That way, not only will Satou-chan know that she is safe, but she can check if Satou is okay too! Yes, it was the perfect plan!
Smiling at her intelligence, Shio pushed the door open, ready to greet her lover. “Satou-chan!” she called out happily. “You forgot to close the-”
Upon catching sight of the scene in front of her, the words she had briefly rehearsed died in her throat.
