But when Alec meets Magnus Bane, powerful warlock eternally youthfull and handsome, he is pushed outside of his comfort zone and must deal with the jumble of his identity. Magnus leans up to kiss him, just soft, light, Alec’s hands still in his hair holding him in place. His hand comes up to wrap around Alec’s wrist, and Alec’s sure Magnus can feel the way his pulse picks up, thumping against his fingertips. He wonders if Magnus knows how the simple touch makes his heart feel like it’s going to burst into Magnus’s hands, how the brush of his lips—salty, still, with his tears—as he deepens the kiss makes something so large and bright grow in his chest that he doesn’t think even the two of them would be able to contain it.
From the way Magnus looks at him as he pulls away, Alec thinks maybe he does know.
“Thank you,” Magnus says, cupping Alec’s cheek in one hand, “for holding onto me.”
Alec takes that hand in his own. “You never have to thank me for that.”

Summary
Magnus lets himself wallow a full hour before he decides he really doesn’t care if Alexander is a nephilim.
Magnus has slept with his fair share of enemies. Has killed and had others try to kill him during romance and sex alike and Alexander is hardly as bad as any of that.
He is a nephilim, but why shouldn’t Magnus gain something from this war. If the Council of Elders dislikes the lover Magnus is going to take for himself, then they can fight without his power.
Magnus will take those who follow him and his nephilim and keep them safe somewhere else.
