Armitage Hux didn’t just wake up one day and decide to sell out the First Order. It took Starkiller's destruction, losing his flagship, getting choked and humiliated by his ex… and drinking questionable home-brewed liquor at rock bottom with the Sith Archivist/Resident Weird Girl. Together, they return Vader’s helmet to Sith Archivists' Guild possession, drive each other mad (in more ways than one), and chip away at the absurd machinery of the orders that bind them—until treason starts looking like the only sane option.
He's a war criminal. She was a bit of a serial killer in college. Will love change that? Probably not. Someday, they might stop being the whole galaxy's problem. But probably not today.

She didn't need to ask what for, and it didn't need to be said; he thanked her for this new life and the outlook she had given him in loving and being loved by him, thanked her for this wonderful little family they had created. Thanked all the stars for them existing together at this point in time and giving him the chance to claim the life he'd always longed for.

The overworked, exasperated general vociferously returns the insults, but without the protection of Snoke, he has nowhere to run when Ren’s violent temper devolves into a psychosexual obsession.
Hux, a victim of serial childhood abuse, crumples when thrown back down the well of waking nightmares he thought he’d clawed himself out of. Meanwhile, the war rages on, and by the time Ren realizes what he’s done to what could have been his greatest ally, it may be too late for either of their souls…
Kylo falls into him, pummeling him relentlessly, embracing him, kissing his name into silken hair. “Armitage,” Kylo repeats, enjoying the tumble of phonemes no less the second time and temporarily withholding his ugly grunts to whisper into Hux’s ear: “I could fucking marry you.” He means it, overcome with the realization he will never want nor need anyone else ever again.

Summary
Armitage Hux is destined for something greater. He's always known it. It's about time, he figures, that the galaxy knows it as well.
Unfortunately, plans do not always fall into place. And he has found himself not only stuck serving beneath his long time nemesis, Kylo Ren, but a newly assigned Allegiant General Pryde, who seems to have arrived out of nowhere with a legion of his own men and secret work taking place within the lower levels of the ship they have all been indefinitely stationed at.
But with multiple disappearances of both prisoners and First Order officials, Hux's suspicions might be more than justified. And when he senses that Enric Pryde is seeking to destroy all that he has strived his entire life to build, Hux is forced to align himself with his new elusive Supreme Leader and a few former Resistance foes who have found themselves trapped within the hellish confines of Pryde's nightmare aboard the Menacer. All of them must work together to escape Pryde's psychotic plans for the future of the First Order, and Hux will finally realize his true destiny amidst a galaxy of heroes and monsters.
