In which a baby is acquired and Maedhros and Fingon fall in love a little more every day.
“He’s beautiful,” Maedhros said suddenly into the silence of the car nearly twenty minutes later as they drove off in the direction of home, and Fingon squeezed shoulder, both of Maedhros’s hands white knuckled on the steering wheel as he drove more carefully than he ever had in his life down the highway.
“He’s--” Fingon broke off, waving his hands through the air, apparently entirely lost for words in the face of Gil-Galad’s perfection, “He’s perfect. He’s beautiful. He’s-- oh Valar, Russo, he’s ours.” And Maedhros understood. Suddenly it felt entirely overwhelming to be trusted with such a small life, lucky beyond measure and yet utterly terrifying.
