Summary
Stumbling back along the riverside, Jimin’s foot caught in a tree root. The basket, and all its contents, were tossed into the river as he lurched forward. He gasped in horror - an entire afternoon was just thrown away.
Scrambling to collect at least his basket, he struggled to focus on the dark moving water. There was a sudden glow that revealed the basket just under his nose. Quickly snatching it, his eyes turned heavenward to decipher what the illumination was. All around the horizon were separate warm glows, at various sizes and intensities. The accumulated affect lit up the night warmly, glowing like the dying embers of his hearth – something he had never witnessed occurring like this at night. Keeping an eye on the glowing horizon, Jimin stumbled home, eager to escape the dread the view settled in him. Once his house was in view, he realized the brightest, closest, glow was coming from the direction his family had left, toward the village. Maybe when they return, they can tell him what this was all about.
Except they didn’t.
