Keith stared at the man in his arms, blue armor stained red, bleeding out all while keeping a incredulous smile on his pained face. He looked peaceful, resigned to his fate, and Keith just couldn't let that happen. He wanted to wipe that stupid softness off his stupid face.
"What the fuck, Lance," he said barely above a whisper, tears dotting Lance's freckled cheeks. "You told me you didn't remember."
Lance laughed. How could laugh at a time like this. "...I was lying, mullet. Of course I remember."

Lance flicked through all his apps, playing Altean games he didn’t really understand, fooling around with a mobile version of the Altean language lessons, and using space twitter to send out a few ramblings to his adorning fans before returning to stare at the last message he’d sent to Keith:

Lance hasn't quite settled into her new existence. Even the name she thinks she's going to stick with, she's barely been testing out. She knows the team is supportive, but is worried they won't like her name or tease her. But Keith is coming for a visit and she is NOT READY!

All of this was framed with hair that Keith noticed immediately was about two inches longer, making him realize just how long it had been since he left.
...that's...oh that's...Keith now understood why Lance was so scared. The make-up might not have thrown him off if it had been only that, as Lance had been a theater kid. But the whole package together? Keith wasn't the brightest bulb, but it wasn't rocket science to figure out what was happening.
“...hey...” Keith prodded, reaching up to move some of Lance's hair away. He didn't speak again until he caught Lance's gaze with his own. “Did you believe I'd think less of you or something?”

Summary
Lance has made a good life for himself, being grateful while still yearning, and is reminiscing as he takes his daughter on a walk to buy his husband some time to finish making her cake. But this was certainly not what Penina expected for her birthday.

He was going to keep it that way and did what he felt he needed to do. Knowing she was intelligent and their property wasn't that far away, nor were they terribly far off the ground, Lance managed to position himself to drop her safely to the ground, just outside the tractor beam's range.

Keith, who had helped Lance through his healing between therapy sessions. Being with Allura had felt so weird. So surreal. Lance couldn't understand why he hadn't been happy with her. He got the girl; he won, right? Then why had it felt wrong?

"I think I'm the palest I've ever been, actually. It's been what - seven months in space now?" Lance wondered.
"About, yeah," Keith murmured beside him.
“That’s a long time,” Lance said, throat suddenly dry.
Lance saw Keith turn to look at him out of the corner of his eye - but he didn’t look back, instead continuing to squint up at the sky.
"I guess I just missed the sun," Lance admitted.
Or, the Castle lands on a planet with a lot of sunshine for a supply run and Lance is determined to enjoy it
