Summary
A doctor steps in and blocks his way. “Sir, you can’t go in there!”
“No, no, no,” says Charlie, “you don’t understand—”
“Are you family?”
“No, but—”
“Family only,” he informs him sternly, disappearing behind the glass door. The doctor joins the throng of medical personnel surrounding the man’s body, and when they wheel the gurney out of sight, Charlie staggers back from the glass wall like he’s been punched.
Shock and helplessness coalesce within him. Inexplicably, he finds himself laughing, his trembling fingers lifting to his lips to contain the mirthless giggles that spill forth. “Oh, God,” he whispers. “I was going to marry that man.”
The nurse at the desk drops her jaw. “Oh, luv.”

Summary
Charlie knows he has no need to turn back the clock seven years.But his mind fights him anyway. Without music to distract him, all the energy he'd usually put toward listening to lyrics goes into stifling a pulsing undercurrent of ideas. A few too many of them catch his attention. Like the thought that he had a chance to reconnect with someone from his old life, but missed it because his parents didn't bother to set up a system that would forward their post to Spain. That the person who reached out never tried again. That that person was probably the only one Charlie has ever regretted cutting out of his life, even after all this time.
OR: Charlie receives an email from a charity shop employee who’s come into possession of a letter intended for him, years ago, from a life he left behind as a teenager.

Summary
Charlie lingers in the locker room long after all the other boys have left, almost as if he doesn’t want any of them to see where he’s going, and that more than anything convinces Nick that he’s got to do something to find out what’s wrong. So when Nick leaves the locker room, he turns a corner and then hovers there, waiting to see which direction Charlie goes.
He’s not sure what he’s expecting—maybe that Charlie’s sneaking off to see Ben again? But Charlie doesn’t meet up with Ben. He doesn’t meet up with anyone. Instead, he ducks into a broom cupboard and emerges five minutes later in pajamas with a rucksack slung over his shoulders and what looks like a sleeping bag tucked under his arm.
Nick comes out from around the corner. “Charlie? What are you doing?”

A closeted Charlie comes out to his parents after Ben assaults him. When his mum kicks him out of the house, Nick and Sarah take him in instead.

Charlie Spring has a bit of a… reputation at school. His friends are trying to convince him to have a positive attitude, start fresh, maybe get into a real relationship instead of “casual” hookups.
What they don’t is why he chooses to stay away from relationships. Why he chooses to keep his distance from guys. Why he can’t just let go and trust. And for his own safety, can’t tell them either.
Nick Nelson is a lighthearted, innocent, rugby lad who has recently come out at bisexual and has maybe taken an interest in Charlie regardless of what people say about him.
Maybe he could change Charlie?
Maybe Charlie could give him a chance?

Nick Nelson flies to Almeria for a planned family holiday meet up, only to find out that his dad and brother are a few days delayed. Thankfully, at Casa Primavera, they (mostly) give a warm welcome and, despite holidaying solo, Nick finds himself somewhat enamoured by it all; with Spain, with the hotel, and, most of all, with one staff member in particular.
It’s just a shame that summer flings don’t last forever…

This is it. Senior year. Year thirteen. Charlie’s almost out, he’s going to lift his grades, spend time with his friends, and then leave Truham far, far behind him.
One caveat: Truham’s “seniority program” means that he will be paired with an upper classman from last year’s graduating class.
