Summary
Misty Quigley is just trying to survive as a “weird girl” in the 90s, and what’s more normal than being in love with the most popular girl on the soccer team? But when the plane to nationals goes down in the middle of nowhere with no hope of rescue anytime soon, Misty is forced to assume the role of pseudo- nurse and background leader. She tells herself it’s all for the team, but her main concern is Jackie.
Jackie Taylor is going to snap. She’s spent her whole life pushing her feelings down and coping with her obsessive mind. Jackie always wanted a way out, but a plane crash wasn’t what she wished for. As team captain, of course, she was chosen as a leader, until better leaders step up and Jackie is replaced and left with nothing. Expect for Misty.

Yellowjackets if more of it went right and the aftermath of the crash was (a little) more like summer camp. Tai and Lottie don’t have their supernatural connections leading to a tamer wilderness experience.

A mysterious accident sent the plane crashing into the Canadian mountains. 22 passengers were on the plane, killing 12 passengers, but leaving 10 alive, despite the plane being torn to shreds. A day later, they were found, but something about them had changed. They weren't the same people they were before. not just with the trauma of the event but with the strange abilities that they gained in that crash. To this day, neither the authorities nor experts fully understand what happened...

This is an AU I've been wanting to write for a while, inspired by the song I Believe in Magic by Halsey. This one shot sort of explores what might have happened if the Yellowjackets had never crashed, and Shauna's Wilderness Baby, whom I've dubbed Jackson, had survived. The main plot is older teen timeline JackieShauna, but this fic was imagined because I wondered what it would be like if Shauna's son had lived.

Laura Lee woke up hyperventilating from her nightmares, not exactly an uncommon occurrence. Normally flashes of either planes or fire were all she could remember. Laura Lee could feel Lottie's arms wrapped around her waist, her mate's scent calmed her. Laura Lee forced herself to flip around so she could nuzzle into Lottie's chest. Lottie’s eyes fluttered open at the sudden movement.
“Morning, ‘mega” Lottie murmured, glancing at the darkness outside.
“Not today,” Laura Lee mumbled, her head pounded, the large masses of burns across her skin itched. It seemed like every other day, for the past 2 weeks she just didn't have the energy or the pain was just too awful to take.

The hum of the engines deepened, vibrating through the cabin. A glow bled in from the windows, white light consuming everything, brighter and brighter until Jackie’s smile was all Shauna could see.
Her last thought was relief, or maybe surrender, before the light carried her away.-
Shauna dies in the adult timeline and of course her last vision would be Jackie. But something happen, the white light she assumed would be the end was the beginning. She was back on plane, crashing into the woods with Jackie by her side.
This was her chance to fix the worst mistake she ever did. And she would.
Shauna Shipman would not lose Jackie Taylor. Not ever. Not a second.

"Sometimes we gotta believe in something, but it’s better if that’s something is good. You had hope she was alive, and she is. So…”
“Can I believe in you?”
Akilah flinches visibly, “…That’s–No, Lottie, too much–”
“Sorry, yes, sorry.” Lottie squeezes her in a hug and promptly steps back, her eyes finally seeing Akilah, even though they shift and wander around in something akin to shyness. She kisses her hands in reverence before running back into the cabin.
“What was that?” Akilah asks to the flutter of wings she hears somewhere between her throat and stomach.
Can’t be butterflies, they all gone for the cold season, they all have trouble finding bugs, can’t be that; but the bird is gone and Akilah is trying to move her legs without tripping over her own feet.
