Though, everytime he catches himself staring with a bit too much interest in more than just work chatter, the other would open his mouth and dissolve any of that attraction.. Or so Xia Fei convinced himself. That wasn’t working this time, maybe it was the alcohol in his system or Liu Xiao’s or something about how he was speaking but even his voice, his words, didn't get rid of that feeling

The mer twisted in the water, ruby eyes trained on him. For all its beauty, Liu Xiao couldn't help but note how dull his eyes seemed.
It wasn't overly cautious or aggressive, like he'd expect of a wild predator locked inside what was essentially a giant cage. More so... he wasn't sure how to describe it.
