What happens when a person is pushed over the edge one too may times? They either push back or start pursing that edge, and Fundy's walking that line with the skills of a fucking gymnast. Eret must not like gymnasts, because they intend to get Fundy back on the ground, but he's falling fast and healing's slow and trust isn't easy.

Summary
He shook his head furiously, choked sobs forcing their way out of his mouth as he shuffled backwards, hands scrabbling on the gravel and cutting into his palms. He didn’t notice the pain, too hopped up on adrenaline and fear to recognise it.
Without his permission, a chirp managed to escape, almost masked by his cries and incomprehensible pleading.

Zephyrus paused in his approach, tensing at the sound and staring at Tommy, straightening up to his full height.
Tommy’s breathing became more frantic with the realisation that the man had heard. He knew now. That wasn’t good, that wasn’t safe. They were going to hurt him, they were going to kill him, Tommy didn’t want to die.
A coo reached his ears, the sound dancing on the wind. Safe-calm-protected.

Tommy is an avian hybrid training to be a hero. A wrench is thrown into his plans when he meets the Syndicate leader Zephyrus, and for some reason, his instincts seem to adore him. The feeling is mutual, so now Tommy has to try and live life while yearning for a family of supervillains that are actively trying to kidnap him.

“Will, you okay?” Dad asks.
I don’t answer. Hesitantly, I curl my fingers and twist my wrist. They move smoothly and make no sound.
“Why… why is my hand and arm… metal?” I question. While my voice gets slighter higher pitched from my sudden anxiety, it also sounds different, as if it has a slight echo to it.
“You were in an accident, Wilbur,” Dad begins to explain. The tear has dried up now. “You didn’t make it, but I assigned you some… prosthetics and Tommy helped to get you back. You’ve been asleep since then.”
I remember the cold feeling all over my body and with my outstretched arm, whips the thin white blanket covering the rest of my body off, letting it fall to the wooden floor that I can now see. I inhale sharply at the sight of more silver metal body parts.

Summary
Fundy looses his last life in the Las Nevadas explosion, but when he wakes up, he's not in his bed. Instead he's in a different world entirely, a world where hybrids are normal and players with powers aren't considered some type of "main character", though with this new world brings challenges, and what the hell is a "quirk?"
