Summary
The room spun again, but this time it wasn't just in his head, as when he opened his eyes he was facing a different direction. He was being tilted up, forward, until he could see through a window a similar lab set-up, the center area bare and empty. Titus didn’t understand, so he waited for someone to say something. Was that the lab for the volunteers they wanted him to test? Were they scanning again? There was murmured conversations in the background, maybe jokes, but no one spoke to him.
Instead of words, the silence was broken by the door to the other lab opening. As he half-feared, what came through were soldiers dragged in an unwilling volunteer. But they weren't dragging another soldier or even a villager. It was Nyx.
In which Nyx is tortured horribly, and Drautos does his best to get them through this the only way he knows how, by trying to stay in control as much as he can.
