  Summary

  “Hey! No, no, no, stay with me, Dani, look at me.” Kyana cupped Dani’s cheeks to keep her face tilted towards her.
  The captain coughed weakly, blood coloring her ashen lips. “It’s… f-fine, Kyana. I’ll s-see you in the… morning.”
  Tears welled in the monk’s eyes and she had to swallow back a whimper. She knew it was true. If Dani went out now she’d come back the next day.
  That didn’t make holding her dying body any easier, wouldn’t make seeing the life leave her eyes any less crushing.
