Summary
A new case has landed upon Dirk Gently's doorstep, delivered by the last man he ever wanted to see again.
He knows he can't run from the Universe once it's decided to put him onto the playing field again, and he knows the importance of a case like this. Two former Blackwing subjects are attracting far too much attention, and it's up to Dirk to track them down before Priest does.
Accompanied by the man responsible for all the things Dirk would rather not think about anymore (as well as Todd and Farah), he takes the case and all the consequences that come with it.

Summary
It's been a bit since Dirk escaped from Blackwing for the second time in his life. He has his own agency now, his own friends. Theoretically, he has space to enjoy himself.
This is difficult to do when he knows that Blackwing is still out there, and Todd can tell that something is off. Dirk, however, has never been one to readily admit these kinds of things.
He's fine. He's coping. No need to worry at all.

Icarus had long ago decided that the safest place in the entire room was under the bed.
He had read story often about monsters who his under the bed to pray on unsuspecting children, but he found that under the bed was the only place the monsters weren’t. It was the only place where the doctors had trouble reaching him, the only place where the cameras can’t document his every move for research. Lots of people thought that there were monsters under the bed, but here there was only Icarus under the bed. So what did that make him?
Icarus was 70% sure he wasn’t a monster. And if he was, he was still less of a monster than the entirety of blackwing so he counted that as a win.
