Ford Prefect is not a brave carbon-based being, okay? Nor is he the sentimental sort. Nor the one to buy a spaceship to help his (best) friend recover after his daughter shot him right before the (second) explosion of the Earth.
But sometimes, life throws this kind of uncharacteristic stuff at you, and you have to take it like a champ.
Especially when an intergalactic oil tycoon pulls your spaceship in his orbit, and things get a terrifying turn. -

Meanwhile, Ford Prefect wakes up in an alternate dimension where tea never existed and the universe is under eternal Prohibition laws. As Hell wraps around him and he adopts a new name, a time traveller from the planet Arizona saves both him and Arthur, ushering in a brand new era of temporal investigations and illicit travel.
A Good Bit is a sequel that never was to a trilogy that refused to end, and somehow just keeps going. And, it has Marvin in it.
