Summary
These crowns are awfully heavy for the heads of children. They are also too great a responsibility for Aja and Krel to entrust to anyone but themselves. It's a long road to reconstruction, and it looks so much longer when they can't travel it together.

Major Character Death in first chapter. Basically my ideas on what could happen to our kids after s2. Ignores Wizards about 85% of the time. Written as a story originally intended as a slow burn for Krel/Mary. I'm still quite interested by the idea and intend to come back around on this as life allows.

The search parties finally give up and Commander Shepard is listed as Killed In Action. Everyone returns to their own planets, to help with the reconstruction efforts and to move on. When a strangely intact body is found Miranda is called in as an expert, but if it is Shepard, no one would want to see her this way. She takes her to a hidden lab, not wanting to tell everyone until she is sure it is Shepard and that she will survive.

Miranda was devastated for Shepard’s sake, for the first time second guessing if she should have kept it a secret… if she should have tried to bring her back at all. Would she have been better off just slipping into the pages of history she herself had written? Shepard deserved a life of happiness after what she had done for the galaxy, but would she be able to find it without Garrus? -
