Cherry Natsumi didn't really have favourite children, even if his nightingale ever so lovingly pointed out his preference towards his blond children. He loved all of his children equally, even the older ones who didn’t know this new form he’s taken or the ones who decided to become Marines. As human and as small as they all were, he loved them all the same and more than they knew.
Which was why he was always sad to see them leave. Natsumi had sent his first children away for their own safety, unwilling to allow his brother to call upon his cannon fodder of a crew for a war he would not win. His children after them wished to be Marines, to help guide a new world beyond Natsumi’s beauty of a ship. He didn’t mind, so long as they were all happy. And after them came Natsumi’s proper pirate crew, no children in sight.
How he hated his crew and their barbaric ways, their excessive drinking and killing. And then to disrespect their newest son? Natsumi wouldn’t stand for it, not for one second more.
A vacation, his nightingale suggested when all was said and done, to the East Blue. The weakest Blue where few pirates and Marines would bother them. And why would Natsumi say no to such peace?
